I really enjoy the setting of dark souls employed in jarpigs and was looking for moar games. I really enjoyed enchant quest and ASYLUM so far, also did black souls and even though I enjoyed it it didn't get the feel I'm looking for quite right.

Liberty Step, by the same maker as Asylum, plays similarly in terms of combat and one big map you're exploring, but in terms of characters it's more like Etrian Odyssey where you build your own party of character classes. I'm doing a solo run for the heck of it and I enjoy the need to dodge enemies, the feeling of dueling the bosses, etc.
>>
>>3616747
I thought Asylum was a far better game than Liberty Step even though they're the same concept from the same author. LS is just too bloated. Too many trash mobs, too many of the same annoying quests, too much grinding, and it's just too long.

>>3616627
These are good suggestions, moreso Demon King Chronicle which even has estus flasks.
>>
>>3616627
I tried nepheshel.
I'm really liking it for the most part bar the constant grind because balance is wack. Doesn't really have the feel I was talking about but that's fine, will try your other suggestion next.
>>
>>3619402
I haven't run into any grind yet personally, but I think its because I sequence broke by accident and picked up the rapier in the temple at the start, and basically every enemy gets cooked by it.
I am having some trouble navigating the areas though, how the fuck are you supposed to progress through the coastal grotto? I found a hidden shop there but I unironically got so lost I can't even find the shop again. Fuck the game for not having a quick warp system you can use anywhere.
>>
>>3620063
Game doesn't really have a sequence as far as I understand. You're supposed to get into places and loot&avoid until you get stronger. Thing is that after the castle you just get btfo by everything with no further places to loot so you just have to grind levels as an unavoidable boss 1shots your main attacker based on elemental attributes -I'm still stuck there-. The sea area and later a part of the castle are miserable to be in, I found myself lost there for hours and still can't make sense of either of them, no real need to bother with the shop either. Unless there is a secret I'm missing the only unique non consumable item it offers is the rabbit armor which gets outperformed almost immediately.
>>
>>3620333
I thought Nepheshel got less and less pleasant to play as it went on. The enemy density is especially stupid in the later dungeons. I love this kind of game, I've played Asylum and Demon King Chronicle like 3 times each, but I don't think I'm going to replay Nepheshel even though it does have its good points.
>>
I find myself stuck on bosses in asylum and nepheshel and my progress in demon king chronicles is extremely slow considering each area has you grind hard before considering tackling it as everything destroys you if you don't. I don't usually have trouble with games like these so I'm on the fence on whether it's a skill issue (aversion to grinding like It's a job) or bad design I'll have to push through.
>>
>>3623681
I think only the first dungeon in Demon King Chronicle is grindy, after that there are enough resources to march right into each area after you finish the last. It's been a while since I played Asylum but as I recall you don't need to grind at all before the postgame stuff. If you know where the familiar upgrades are and rush them, that will carry you a good long way. Nepheshel is probably going to be a grind no matter what.
DKC and Asylum aren't grind heavy if you choose your equipment well and get good at sneaking past enemies in higher level areas to grab good stuff. I'm sure to some extent that's also true of Nepheshel but the late game is a grind no matter what.
>>
>>3623696
Whoops. I rewrote that post and then forgot to delete the original version. Oh well.
>>
>>3623681
Yeah, Nepheshel can get pretty grindy. It's fun to sneak past enemies but the bosses in that game can easily filter you if you're not leveled/geared up for it. There's a certain boss near the end that's only weak to a very specific type of weapon and has this completely ass attack that drains your MP. I ended up just pulling out a save editor and giving myself the items I needed to make the weapon for that boss because the drop rates are abysmal.
Demon King Chronicle is a lot more fair in this regard and considerably less grindy until you reach the late game. I did have some trouble in the early game but it's mostly smooth sailing once you get past the start. It's very easy to die in that game if you don't know what you're doing.
>>
>>3616342
didnt read your post i saw windi and came to say "WINDI BEST GIRL"
>>
>>3620333
In Nepheshel there are tons of hidden doors, like every area has several of them. And they usually have very strong unique gears. So you can cut down on the grinding by avoiding enemy while searching for these doors.
>>
>>3620333
I'm gonna talk about Enchant Farm in this thread.

How do I kill these bitches

Also: does anyone have any suggestions on moving the 10000 images in the game to mobile? Running EasyRPG with archives does slow down the game, but actually extracting or moving all those image files takes forever and sometimes just doesn't transfer
>>
>>3623865
Are phone file managers really so bad they can't handle moving files around like that?
>>
>>3623865
What gear do you have? IDK if Poison is good enough against bosses who have an innate resistance to status effects
What are you struggling against specifically? Are you dealing not enough damage, or the enemies simply burst you down before you can take out one of them?
>>
>>3623865
iirc Cold Pasta is ice and steel type and double weak to fire. Give Windi a scorching staff (wooden catalyst + esper shard + flame gem) and she and Flamei should be able to burst her down in short order.
>>
>>3624033
>>3624071
Took three tries but I did it. The Spirit Curse blast at the end was what did me in

Another question, what's the downside to high rank? Is it just that Rank 3s have fewer unique skills? Looks like Quake III has all the skills he would ever need though
>>3624021
its not just extracting within the phone, but when i have the phone connected to the PC. And this is a Pixel 7, its still recent stuff. I fund some alternatives so I'm gonna try those out
>>
>>3624230
Lower Rank units also have more slots for EX skills
>>
>>3624230
How is EasyRPG on mobile? On my machine it stutters on menu transitions and some MIDIs are completely butchered like the HIKARI Palace one
>>
>>3624246
the midis play fine. The stuttering is what I'm talking about. Everything is an image, and half of them are bitmaps. If you're running it from an archive, that'll cause the stuttering
>>
>>3624246
I beat the game multiple times on my phone, works perfectly fine. It takes a little while to load when you launch it but no slowdowns after that.
>MIDI

>>
>>3624230
>Another question, what's the downside to high rank? Is it just that Rank 3s have fewer unique skills? Looks like Quake III has all the skills he would ever need though
That and they get fewer EX skills. 8 for rank 1s, 6 for rank 2s, and 4 for rank 3s. The character balance is pretty good overall, there's an argument to be made for using each of the ~30 characters in the game.
>>
Also using this as the pseudo-Enchant Farm thread. Have any of you done the postgame arena stuff? I'm trying to beat it. I got far in enough to unlock Ice III and Tornado III, and the former seems promising. Her handgun attack does untyped damage and is always 300 to a single enemy, is that right? Seems worth taking even if she does have the worst defensive type. I'm running a team of Water I, Starlight I using a Yami hatchling body, Spirit Bless as my tank with a sacred shield to give the full party regeneration, and Ice III. All magic users. Are there any particular pitfalls I should watch for in the arena?
>>
Try looking into Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance?
>>
>>3624296
Oh yeah and only rank 1s can use the evolutionary stone accessory that gives +50% to defense. But the powerful ruler blaze spell is stronger in the hands of a high rank elemental.
>>
>>3623865
How do stat buffs work? Are they time-limited so you have to refresh them? And how much do they boost you? Does a double boost (From a Magic Needle for example) double your MAG stat?
Also god fuck boss resistances to status/attrib effects
>>
>>3624253
>>3624254
I finally had the patience to let the entire thing finally extract itself. The game runs SLOWER now. Amazing, I guess the problem is with EasyRPG. I guess I'll just bare with it. It's really not that bad, and the only reason I noticed in the first place was because I looked at a video of skills popping up instantly when played on PC
>>
>>3625136
I believe the way stat buffs work is that they're permanent, but they only go as high as the strongest single use buff. A stage 1 buff improves the stat by 1/4 while a stage 2 buff improves it by 1/3. Basically the opposite of the debuffs, except those do have an expiration limit. Having it be identical to Pokemon and giving you a potential x4 stat would be pretty OP.

Bosses all take status effect damage no problem, they just often cure it at the end of the round. The only time they are immune is when it is due to type, like fire type doesn't take burns.

It stacks twice. This can be confirmed easily by checking the variables that hold this information and using any stat booster that +1 stage twice. Stat boosts are a "packed" decimal where the 10s place digit is "stage" and the 1s place digit is "duration."
Whenever the 1s place digit clicks down to 0, the whole variable sets back to 0.

How to stop being skillissued by this fight?
>buffs get reversed
>debuffs get reflected
>every single attack from the mage does enough damage to instant kill anyone regardless of type resistance
>reflector shield seems to only be able to work once per turn, so I can't wide guard both ice attacks with spark 1 unless I use flame 1 to put reviver on her then heal her next turn
My team is sl200 so I should be pretty strong but I've changed up my strategy quite a few times and still can't win. I'm not sure if there is anything I can craft to have an easier time with this fight.

I wanted to try the dogma series but unfortunately my moon isn't that good yet, is it as good as they say or is it a schizo meme? I think it was also mildly hard to find due to the name.

>>3627953
If you're having trouble there the final boss is going to mess your shit up hard. For the most part I used wind 1 (main), eggplant + dark 3 for damage and stone 1 for tanking, almost exclusively a melee focused team overall. Wind 1 is almost unkillable and you want everyone to have revive maxed and you can bash (almost) eveything given enough time and luck. As always, when in doubt just level up -just know it won't always be enough-.
>>
is there any way to have loadouts for different units? I hate spending 10 minutes just moving items around because I want a new team
>>
>>3627974
How do you get wind I evasion high enough to just sit on the fight? Even with max agi, boosts from quick move, scarf, evasion ex, and dodge lethal attack ex, every boss seems to have a fair shot of killing her. And this boss gets 3 chances to kill her per turn because all of them act twice.
And the mad king was WAY easier than this. Even ruler of death and flame ruler were easier for me.
>>
>>3628018
I don't think I bothered too much with postgame stuff. Skipped flame as got into the zone where jrpgs get way too autistic about minmaxing and it's not something I enjoy and I missed the secret final boss so I can't comment on that either. Wind 1 on the back position is nigh unkillable when others are on the field -and that is usally the case as someone pops revive every 1-2 turns in the case I don't care to use items- even without maxing her evasion stats, that's why the mad king fucked me up as his companions consistently hit her and crit the others way too much. I'm guessing it's a matter of different playstyles having different strengths and weaknesses.

you can always attempt "reverse intended order" except that you're gonna have one rough time. it's basically down to luck and timing for getting clean hits in on the back row, as well as not getting set too far back by her miracle drop.
trying to optimize every turn is just such a pain in the ass for this fight, that something is gonna go wrong no matter what. you just have to deal with it and pray a bit for things to go your way. the dragon crest shield is honestly a meme since it gets you killed as often as it keeps you up, but that fire null is hard to disagree with...

Big majority of Dogma series and other games made by the dev is on VIPRPG wiki, except for the first game which has dead links but it should still be somewhere on the Internet. And yes, they have a LOT of weird schizo shit, religious and philosophical ramblings in it.
Here is a mainline:

>ドグマの箱庭 (Dogma)
The first game is a very crude DQ parody/love letter with no actual cursed content or schizoid ramblings or NSFW visuals (except for semi-secret lake cottage and Leg Island). It suffers from FF1's "I don't know where to go and what to do in this giant empty overworld" problem but it is not the worst thing ever. It has some fine moments too. Unfortunately to get all the plot of the series, it is kind of required to be familiar with this game because there are going to be a lot of references to the events and characters in the later games. Has very hard and long final boss fight.

>引き裂かれたバダール (Badar)
This is the game which kickstarted the fame of the series. You play as a sparrow and you need to assemble the party to climb the giant tower called Badar. Each layer of a tower has multiple dungeons, overworlds and its own setting. Prepare for a lot of weirdness, philosophy and outright offensive stuff. This game has Xenogears vibe to it in a good sense. It has a lot of QoL in comparison with the first game too, like having bestiary, visible mook encounters on a map and a way to skip any random encounter if you bored of fighting said mooks. Unfortunately the game is not balanced at all so from the midgame you can comfortably autoattack anyone if you correctly setup your party and equipment. It also has a lot of semi-hidden stuff and small stories which encourages you to return back and talk with people. This game also introduces Ixtab, my beloved. Has unnecessary kino final boss fights.

>ポイズン・セレクション (Poison Selection)
This is not an RPG but a shitpost-walking sim-tragicomedy about the small guy called Poison who is forced to be a hero so he could still get payed welfare. It is filled with Japanese-only Internet memes and VIPRPG jokes and references while also having the heartbreaking story.

>アリスの標本箱 (Alice)
Imho, the best game in a series. It combines the events and characters of three previous games into one sequel (technically it is a sequel and a prequel to Poison Selection at the same time). The game returned to being a classy DQ clone but it is a way better game. The difficulty is more balanced, overworld is compact and filled with a LOT of stuff to find. Features a lot of VIPRPG jokes and references while also having cursed stuff (using bloated corpse of a guy who wanted to die as an improvised boat for example) and philosophical ramblings. Has even more unnecessary kino final boss fights.

>シューニャの空箱 (Shunnya aka Sunyata aka Insubstance)
The sequel to Alice and the final mainline game with a LOT of plot and Buddhism. It is very difficult to talk about plotwise without context but as a game itself it is worse than Alice. The game is more linear now, party members have odd and unbalanced skillsets and some boss fights at the beginning are too much without preparation. The game is still cursed and offensive (especially the main menus) and it has excessive amount of ramblings too. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross were huge inspirations for it, so the plot is complex, requires familiarity with all previous games (including sidestories) and it also adds dubious lore to things which didn't require it in the first place, but at the grand scheme of things it is an amazing conclusion with the coolest final boss fight of this series.

Other notable games by Motarou which I played:

>さらばケゴール島
>おいでよ自殺者の森
>もぐれケゴール島
Kegor Island Trilogy. Three short games centered around the island where people conceptually can't die. Full shitpost games with some drama here and there. Technically, all of them count as Dogma 4.5 because of Shunnya's plot additions. The first game is about Windy refusing to die so she could get a lot of money, the second one is about three goobers looking for the goddess of life and death so they could actually die and the third game is a comedic golden ending AU of Alice's game with unforgettable Monty Python-esque scene of "Orc's train car" and the dev room where Motarou talks about his IRL life, hopes, dreams and losses.

黄昏残遺譚 (Remnants of Dusk)
The only MV game by the dev is a short but good RPG about the granny with no chill, mysterious girl in a poncho (and only poncho) and a talking ghost gorilla on a roadtrip. The game has no connection to Dogma at all except for a couple of references but still a solid game with a lot of rambling, jokes and QoL which may be a good starting point if you are curious about this games. The plot has a lot of drama (in a good sense of that word).

エピタフ―相対の相対― (Epitaph)
Motarou's magnum opus. Features semi-autobiographic elements and family archive photos, Arthur Schopenhauer with lightsaber and Golden Gun, Peter Pan outBlackSouling the Black Souls and a lot of ramblings. Dramatic but unfortunately, very linear. Difficulty is just right, has QoL and very spicy visuals and drama.

I thought you were talking about the dragon where I was also was stuck at. After reading your post and upon further inspection I found out some enemies drop more than 1 item so I went out and farmed dragon fangs for what seemed like forever. Barely managed to kill it even with everyone being max level after the endless battles, then I came across another boss that drains your mp while at the same time nuking everything and causing multiple ailments on top. Dragon crest and dragon god shields give complete immunity to fire which overrides stuff like ruler's gaze. Having one of those in each character to switch to will help a lot. Brian's metal burst reflects the damage you dealt to him that turn, but very slow characters can get around it. Enchant up your shields, they reduce physical/magic damage as a percentage even when not defending.
>>
>>3627974
>If you're having trouble there the final boss is going to mess your shit up hard.
The final boss is a joke compared to Brian, especially on tactical which seems to be what anon is playing on.
>>
>>3627953
>>3628656
Oh yeah, and my tank of choice is Spirit Bless who reduces damage to your whole team by 30% when she defends in the front row. Less powerful but more stable than the barriers' tank skills. I like to set her up with an enchanted sacred shield for full party Regen and have her defend every turn throughout the entire game.
>>
>>3627981
The new unit will have the same equipment as the one you are switching out. Switch then into the same slot that the previous character was in so you only have to redo their equipment and not the whole team's. There's no loadout function
>>
>>3628018
She should also have the AGI up ex skill. Don't put her in the front spot unless she's defending which doubles her EVA. Keep shrug it off up as a top priority.
>>
>>3628659

It's pretty situation-dependent but you want to have good shields in any case. Spirit Bless is good in any situation except she does nothing for Windi, but she can't outright stop damage from reaching your back lines like Darkness and Leaf/Electric Barrier can. If your back row is going full glass cannon, you might want one of those three so they don't get touched. Personally I don't know how you're supposed to keep the barriers alive against the stronger aoes. Maybe you're just supposed to revive them every turn.

What's the deal with Chaos Gomez, anyway? I thought I fought him in the ship, but the wiki doesn't mention him being there, instead mentioning him in other places that I haven't seen him in (I just walked up and picked up Aubergonath, for instance). But the wiki also says that if you ever fight the Chaos version regular Gomez won't give you a certain item after recruiting the eggplant dragon. And I'm just confused. Honestly that's just my tale with the game; I've just been kind of stumbling through the maps not knowing how much I need to get my Agi up to avoid every fight being a whiff fest or what weapon/shield upgrades I should prioritize with my handful of elemental shards, et cetera et cetera.

You fight him if you find the dragon in the cave when you either have a small or large number of recruited characters. Off of the top of my head, I think the range is 3 or less character in your team, or else 12 or more to encounter him. It's particularly worth fighting Chaos Gomez in tactical difficulty, since beating him raises your level cap by a lot. You can still reach tactical's cap of 200 without fighting him thoughbeit.

I'm trying to jump in the hole where The Coward ran to in King's Chronicle but I get killed even when I have more HP than the dmg displayed after jumping. I fell in another hole and I got thousands of damage so I translated that as "not this way" but dying in this one doesn't make much sense.

That is the postgame dungeon. Jumping down the hole near where you defeated the coward takes you to the beginning, of the dungeon, jumping into the bigger hole in the ice zone takes you to the end of it. Both are survivable but you need a lot of HP. If it killed you despite displaying damage beneath your health then that is strange, it should do what it says.

God damn, this was the hardest fight so far in Enchant Farm, easily worse than Super Flame Ruler. Wind I was both brutal and nearly immortal and Darkness I's provokes and tanking are borderline unfair. Had to bring in Leaf Barrier even though she had no EX skills and it was rough. Probably would have only been half as hard if she had EX skills. Burned through like half of my soul returners here.

Laplace No Ma (SFC) is a good RPG, albeit rather short, heavily based off of the works of HP Lovecraft and Call of Cthulu (MP reduced to 0 means the character goes insane (AKA Berserk)) with its dark atmosphere, though music is very repetitive at times, and is quite grindy. There are other versions but the SNES version is the only one that got a fan translation and the other versions are quite different than the SNES.

I'm making so much more progress now that I know what weapons/armor actually do what and where to get spellcasting weapons for Windi and co so they don't get walled by everything. The synth system is kind of a pain in the ass, though at least I've gotten to Colt and can just buy shards now. Surprising how rare electric weapons are; the only one I've seen so far is an upgrade for the broken katana at the lighthouse.

Just killed the final boss in demon king chronicle. Really loved the ending and the watercolors were beautiful. I found a secret boss that destroyed me and I'll debate whether I should bother finishing the underground caverns. Are there any worthwhile secrets there? Grinding even more to get a sword after having already finished the game doesn't really motivate me.
>>
>>3632497
I usually wouldn't, but it felt like it would have worked well in this situation given the boss's type. It did not. Usually in these games I try to build around developer intent, so that usually means going hybrid for everyone even if its not the best case for any situation.
>>
>>3632497
It's a strong weapon that weighs nothing and at SL 200 Windi gets super strength, but you lose out on damage if you aren't in the front row which is often not great for her, and she won't have any special attacks with it, and there aren't too many good low weight backup weapons when dragon type isn't ideal. It should be perfectly usable but I think she's better off sticking with magic.
>>
>>3632328
Here's a Confuse build:
HP up - Should go on everyone except Windi
STR up - More damage and and some more physical defense
DEF up - Mostly to cover for Confuse's poor magic defense
Blunt damage up if you're only going to use fists
Attack skill damage up since Confuse himself and most fist weapons have a lot of attack skills

For the last one I'd take either AGI up, auto revive, or HP regen
Auto revive is really useful and has won me many victories I did not deserve
AGI up is good in general, you can't have too much. Confuse's accuracy is not bad and fist weapon accuracy is good so might be a little overkill. It also improves your evasion which is always good
HP regen is always good on the front row

For weapons a good combo is cestus and drill knuckle. The cestus is weak and can't be enchanted, but it's the only fist weapon Confuse can STAB with, and good fighting type attacks are hard to come by and hit some good weaknesses, particularly dark type which is only weak to fighting and esper and includes a bunch of dangerous enemies. Drill knuckle is strong, can be enchanted using Quick Move or Stone I, and covers the elements fighting type damage is bad against pretty well. No single element will resist both.

Give him a steel type shield to cover his innate weaknesses to wind, light, and esper attacks. Kite shield and bromia shield are both good options. Dragon crest is a good backup shield in general.

>>3632838
The postgame dungeon is cool. You don't need to do more grinding than you would for the main game dungeons. You get to visit Middle Earth and travel from the Shire to Mount Doom and the superboss of the postgame is an incarnation of Zelphie Eluonto, the dude responsible for most characters' problems, in his prime. You got the third protagonist right? And unlocked the mirror room ability for the final battle as planned before confronting the final boss?
>>
>>3632923
I got as far as the paid save point where I found what I guess is the boss you're talking about. At that point I'm not too high on potions considering the drop taking half and random golden enemies dealing too much damage. The fact I can only get gold by farming random drops is ok if it's for getting skills but wasting money to save is pretty meh. I'll try again and if I find a normal save with a recovery spring it's a done deal.
Of course I did the extra protag, the "cutscene" with the MC casting the skill was great. Is he supposed to be Aeritz and you are the one who was talking with the writer, having returned 10 days later as you said? I know multiple interpretations are the theme but I wonder if and how Aeritz and Sera appeared.

>drill lance to hit the mage consistently w/ skewer
>ignore weight just use evo stones on the supports
>spirit bless can buffer her atk buff so that it triggers right after the reverse, cast it when she uses ice
>use undead rapier because it gives you magical fire attack+free revive
>tank differential cut with immunity (fuuma shuriken, merril ur sword, ryugu dance spam with quick move at the front) because that move does 999 damage.
I'm going to grind everyone to max level then go into the postgame.

The island is a place where stories or the imagination or something like that seem to have the power to affect reality. The final battle as planned ability causes your characters to embody the characters from the story they represent The heroine Sera was inspired by Ares, who was the person speaking to the author of the Demon King Chronicle in those flashbacks. However Ares is dead and Camil/Himari has inherited her will. Those .txt files the game generates say that she is wearing a will stone which in context must belong to Ares. Will stones seem to be able to record or be possessed by a person's will and memories. So Camil becomes Sera for the final battle. The second character, named Randolf was based on Randolf's father figure Hrodnar, and Hrodnar named the party member Randolf after that character, so his name doesn't change. I might be getting the names wrong a bit, it's been a while. Anyway, Randolf becomes his character. That final battle ability also causes the weak rat slayer sword to become the powerful dragon slayer sword Randolf used to imagine it to be. Mr. No-Name was created using the will stone of Aeritz who was murdered by the coward. The character Ritzea from the Demon King Chronicle story was based on Aeritz, so he becomes Ritzea. The primary goal of the game is to finish the unfinished story, so by becoming Sera, the other Randolf, and Ritzea, and defeating the demon king as was supposed to happen in the story, that goal is achieved.
As far as the superboss goes, even though he appears halfway into the postgame dungeon, you don't want to mess with him until you've cleared the rest of it.

>>3632971
Oh yeah and by the way, this is really late for you, but maybe it'll be helpful and maybe someone else is playing DKC. The game doesn't really explain what your stats do, but they work like this: attack affects the damage of normal attacks. Both attack and skill affect the damage of spells and attack skills, at different proportions depending on the skill. Agility affects your chance of multi attacking, but the maximum number of attacks is limited by your equipment. If you wear the dagger with +2 attacks, you can attack up to 3 times. I believe 50% agility means a 50% chance to get each extra attack, 100 agility means you're guaranteed to get all extra attacks, etc. Each hit in a multi hit combo will be weaker than the last, it's not worth going for huge combos longer than 3 or 4 hits. The absolute best damage dealer in the game stacks multi hit, agility, crit rate, and attack, and uses the holy sword to make your crits brutal. The best skill attacker stacks attack and skill. I like to go combo attacker Camil, skill attacker Randolf, with Aeritz mostly on support.

>I'm going to grind everyone to max level then go into the postgame.
If you're going for the arenas, make sure Leaf Barrier and Starlight I are EX skilled up even if they aren't in your main party. Make sure you have the fae greatsword that can prevent resurrection.
>>
>>3632994
How do I grind up EX skills lategame? Even with knightsword and the growth ex people don't seem to get EX skills that easily. I'm in an awkward spot with leaf barrier because I raised her to be a wide guard and aromatherapy bot on a few fights I was having trouble with, but barely used her outside of that so she's relatively high level but got little EX.
>>
>>3632998
>How do I grind up EX skills lategame?
Unfortunately you either can't or it's very tedious. EX skill learning rate is based on comparing your party's average level to the enemy's level, so if you've got a few level 25 guys sitting around, you could throw them into the party and see if that works. 1 enemy level = 5 soul levels for your party.

But if it was me I'd probably just start another run. Game seems super long the first time, but that changes when you know what you're doing. I did a leaf barrier solo run the other day and it took somewhere in the 5-10 hours range.
>>
>>3633002
I know that some stuff in the postgame is unlocked by clearing the optional bosses, do I actually have to do all that again in my 2nd run or is it done as long as I did it once? And I know the stuff you can carry from run to run is limited, so will I end up needing to fully explore the map and clear the optional bosses again anyway just to regear my level 3 magicite crafts?
>>
>>3633021
You can optionally carry over levels, magicite, ex skills, and worn equipment. There are boxes where you can drop off items from one playthrough into the bonus room and pick them up in later playthroughs. I don't remember how much of that stuff you have to unlock. But you keep your unlocks between runs, you won't have to beat flame ruler again, for example, but you might want to keep flame ruler's weapon in one of those chests if you can.
>>
>>3633031

>>
>>3633105
I figured it was to give Auber an extra oddball trait to show her as unusual compared to Elementals, and maybe to share MC's uncraftable trait if that's coded by slot
>>
>>3633032
Just load up on magicite before finishing the game, carry it over, and sell it off. Won't help on Hardcore though.
Not that you really need to since getting a working party up quickly is extremely easy with a few minutes of pre-game hunting for big soul pots and knocking out a few easy early bosses. Especially if you're already carrying over strong equipment.

I had never checked the glossary before so that was useful, thanks. I still don't get how we know what happened to Ares,Flodnar and Aeritz. They all supposedly disappeared someday but we I didn't catch more than that from what I saw. Maybe the body in the cave chronicle behind the ship is Sera's? Maybe I'm missing context clues from the post game dungeon? Some questions I have for your post. How do we know that Laylaria killed Aeritz? Where is it said that Himari carries a will stone (it wasn't in my .txt)? How do we know the flashback speaker was Ares? Diester tells the speaker that he (the reader) will fight the Demon King along the 3 Heroes, so unless he was unaware of who he was speaking with it doesn't make sense to talk about 4 people in the flashback unless he was suddenly speaking in general. Also didn't know about the sword transforming, that's pretty cool.

Besides only having 21 slots on the swap screen, maybe it's so that she doesn't count towards character milestones since her free recruitment window is pretty broad? Most other chars require a fight once you have a team of 5 guys.
And aren't all the other characters based on stock spells (Though I read that the original RTP didn't have Barrier spells)? Having a personification of a monster in that list maybe sticks out, so she got shoved to a secret code character.
>>

All characters with their own spot on the select screen are required for the good ending, none of the shift select characters are.
>>
>>3633215
You get this glossary entry if you get Camil to level 50:

■Camil
This story's main character.
She carries the Yellow Will Stone so it is
her destiny to guide the story to its ending.

Whenever Ares is speaking, whether in the flashbacks with Diester or through her will stone, yellow text is used, just as blue text is used for Diester, whose memories are contained in the blue will stone. I don't know if we ever found out what happened to Ares or Flodnar, but the other active will stones contain the memories of dead people (Diester, Aeritz) so presumably she bit the dust at some point. If she was alive she'd probably be doing her own dirty work instead of getting Camil to finish the story.

Regarding Aeritz, Laylaria has this line:
"There was someone staying here until a little while ago... Unfortunately, The Coward took care of him... So, now we have a vacant room. Please, make yourself at home."
Contextually, the person would have to be Aeritz and Laylaria would be an authority on the Coward's crimes. Kumo and Aeritz came to the island together and Aeritz is gone. Also iirc the sword zenigalas which Aaron Aaron sells once belonged to Aeritz. And all throughout the game Aaron Aaron steals the property of dead or disappeared characters so he can sell it.

There isn't a fourth character who is going to fight the demon king. The person Diester is speaking to, Ares, is the inspiration for Sera, or looking at it the other way, Sera is a fictional stand in for Ares. She and the stand-ins for Flodnar and Aeritz are going to fight the demon king, who is Diester. As I recall, Aaron Aaron's notes mention which story character is based on which real person. iirc Ares's conversations with Diester either imply or outright state that one of the characters and chapters in Demon King Chronicle is based on her own story.

Both of those are available around the dwarven forge. To get the steel key, you need to use a shining crystal key to open the door to the golem manufacturing room. Talk to the foreman, fight him, and take the key. The pirate key is in the termite area which can be reached from the northeast corner of the dwarven forge. When you get to a path split, head south and you'll find it. Unlike crystal keys and soldier keys, both the steel and pirate keys are reusable.

>>
>>3636724
I think form 3 is the best since she's capable of reliable monster damage and is pretty durable while other forms, especially form 2 and blood water, are glass cannons. Form 3's auto hit is especially useful in the postgame arenas which have a some nasty evasion enemies. But all four versions of wateri are solid for their own reasons. If she's your main character then blood water can only get the bad ending

Wateri's basic spell gets upgraded to 120 power in the late game, which is exceptionally good and another argument for the magic form.

I just use physical attacks on Camil to work around the special attacks thing, other main characters have spells they can use at full health. Not being able to run away is harsh with how dangerous it is to get mobbed but I like it that way. You can revive with one of the two estus flask items, the one that restores 25% HP and 100% MP iirc.

Risk/reward. Doing the equipment switch every fight is too inconvenient for me too. Some of the abilities are really good, buffs in general are great in DKC. But the absolute strongest attacker possible uses normal physical attacks.

Starlight I can both cancel enemy buffs and prevent status ailments from hitting your team in addition to having the best stats in the game and 8 EX skill slots. She's the best character in Enchant Farm and a must have for the postgame imo.
I don't remember how to deal with Heal III's self healing. I think you might just have to burst her down. According to the JP wiki she cycles through 5 sets of actions, and on the 4th set she casts Heal III on herself if she's at low health. She casts quake III on the third action, so you can get her almost to the point where she heals, wait for quake III, and then start bursting on the next turn.
>>
>>3637773
a lot of the postgame bosses (sort of) require you actually pay attention to their turn cycles. their strongest action usually only occurs every 4-5 turns, though it gets quicker at last lifebar. you gotta burst harder at that point, or keep them on 2nd lifebar until your burst setup comes off CT
>>
>>3638206
>that image
You've got to be kidding me
>>
>Destiny's Defeat
>can heal **all** status ailments
>haha just kidding bro, it doesn't

Sorry, but this game is really retarded when you can't fucking get rip of the separated status on the final boss
>>
>>3638376
But it does?
>>
>>3638376
Are you trying to cure a buff? That's not a status ailment
>>
>>3638404

It didn't

>>3638407

How is it a buff if I can't use a party member at all?
>>
>>3636202
Holy shit, I actually went there first because I couldn't find the steel key but I never found the hidden one.
>>
Hey in Enchant Farm can anyone remind me where I'm supposed to look for Dorothy, I didn't right it down and can't remember. Talking to Colt again didn't give me another hint.
>>
>>3638522
She vaguely mentions that she's stuck somewhere up north past the drawbridge.
Where she's actually located is the Hikari Villa once you've beaten the Hikari Palace and gone to the very end of the Stalactite Hollow.
>>
>>3629033
how? I can never make progress no matter what I try. hp bar never falls from the black, feel totally stumped
>>
>>3638532
Are you against the one that looks like Flame III or the one with a ton of forms that looks like a dragon?
>>
>>3638466
Oh, when you said "on the final boss" I thought you meant it was a beneficial special effect the boss gave itself. It's been a while sorry. I know the boss sometimes gives you debuffs that get worse if you don't fix them in time, like it gives you foreshadowing debuff that becomes instant death. Is it one of those maybe?
>>

>>
>>3638680
I made one main team and one backup team that was only really good for stalling, but switching teams and stalling is still useful since your other team recoves in the meantime. You can't realistically resist everything it can throw at you with its one million forms but giving your main team dragon crest or dragon god shields for fire immunity and other resistances is a good idea as usual. Since its resistances change drastically throughout the fight it's best to give each character multiple attack elements, possibly even if that means you have less raw power. If the tactical mode switch is turned on I believe that does affect bonus room bosses so make sure that things is off. You can leave the bonus room, set the difficulty to easy, and then head back into the bonus room which should give you a better crit rate if you want to be cheap. I had Spirit Bless in the front of my team defending with a sacred shield on 95% of turns which both reduces all incoming damage to the team by 30% and gives 10% HP recovery to the team, that might help you endure longer too. I also had Starlight I to switch to the front position to block any status ailments attacks. If Lighti isn't in your A team maybe throw her into your B team just to stop ailments? I s any particular thing killing you?

You're in luck then. The dev promised +10 playable characters for the sequel. I don't really care about autism as long as I can ride pic-related.
>>
>>3639045
Oh yeah, the final phase drains SP and auto-kills you if your SP gets too low, so ideally your team should all have a dragon crest shield, not dragon god.
Make sure to look at its next action every turn and switch to the best shield for that attack, of course.
>>
>>3636724
Form 3 Wateri lets you skip leveling AGI which is a pretty big deal if you're playing tactical
>>
>>3638654
Darkness I is so good I always rush to get her at the start of every run. You benefit a lot more from having her right away than playing half the game to set up the power up.
>>
>>3639193
I feel she's right on the cusp of being amazing. She needs more agility to be a reliable attacker, and for a tank her HP is garbage. Ex skills bring those stats up to a barely acceptable level. Her high STR, 8 ex skills, and built in attack skills give her brutal physical damage potential.
>>
>>3639215
She works great as a tank for a lot of the game when the rest of your team is very fragile and most attacks are single target.
>>
>>3639193
>>3639215
>>3639227
I chose her as my starter and her tanking is amazing. Not having her would have made the beginning way harder.
>>
>>3639045
so there's really no trick to it? it's just a disgustingly long bullshit fight? why does his HP bar never go below black? I usually fail when it gets to form 5 (loops back to the lava background) because my parties get overwhelmed by that nonsense. I felt like I was never making any progress. is there a certain end form that starts actually losing HP?
>>
>>3639254
You got to the second last form. Dragon crest shields stop the passive lava damage btw. The final form is a gimmick fight and it has the space emperor's deathmatch ability that instakills you and him below 25% HP or SP.
>>
>>3639270
oh. man. yeah, I have plenty of dragon crest shields. that's annoying how close I was. I felt like I was doing something wrong or missing some trick. thanks for the help
>>
almost forgot to ask. which boss is the "naked golem"? I've done a few playthroughs but I don't remember that name. am I misremembering or did I miss something?
>>
>>3639335
That's the one in the ice cavern in the left area, across the invisible walkways/chains.
>>
>>3639321
Also remember to switch your dragon crest shield away to something else if it uses a dragon type attack because dragons are weak to dragon
>>
doing a Windi solo run even though i've never played it before bc why not. this Basil guy can hit her easily even with the choice scarf on and idk how to deal with him. dodging is your whole thing, Windi

enchant farm. where has this game been my whole life?! god bless this thread.
>>
>>3639748
She does seem to fall off in the late game and postgame when enemies with 100+ AGI become more common. Congrats on the solo win
>>
Windi is god in the early game and so ass in the late game
>>
>>3640698
She's still good late I just wouldn't put her on the level of top tiers like Watri and Lighti
>>
are there any games on steam that scratch the same itch as enchant farm? the IWD games are the closest i can find because it's just dungeon crawling, but i still find there's too much questing/dialogue.
>>
>>3641570
Crystal Project. Pure exploration + combat with almost no story. Though the platforming kind of blows, and the combat system is much different.
Romancing SaGa 2 seems like one of the main inspirations for the game with its nonlinear exploration and a similar combat system - learning skills in combat, formations etc.
>>
>>3641816
those are actually both good recs for me, haven't played any of the romancing games either

Plot = hack.sign + drakengard
Status effect works on bosses
The world is really huge
Quirky chars and based dialogues (no LGBT stuff despite it may seem so in the beginning)
Your own town + town management
Backrooms influences
Most of the music tracks are made by the dev

Minuses:
Has some 4chan vibes (text logs about niggers/commies/homosexuals/christian stuff)
Has an exp level cap, it's high but may get annoying if you're a perfectionist
The plot is somewhat a schizomess, most of the charm comes from the characters and NPC

Mind you, the price is only high for USA/Canada etc, it's VERY cheap in Russia/Ukraine/Argentina and other shitholes.

From searching a bit on Japanese sites a little bit, I've found that there is a subgenre known as ネフェイスト, or NepheHist games, based on Nepheshel and Histoire.

Here are google translated names some games in that genre, for the most part I don't know which are playable in English:

Histoire
Alice Hole
The Labyrinth's Disease
UnExist ~The Clowns Who Can't Make Their Dreams Come True~
Fanastasis
Wizmaze
The Mysterious Miasma Tale
Kyorakutengai
Dark Malice
The Distorter's March
The Mad Fall Canopy
Dolls Quest
Dolls Quest 2 - The Castle of Ten Thousand Demons and the Silver Princess

Ones that I know are playable in English:
Nepheshel
Enchant Farm
Demon King Chronicle
Liar Jeannie in Crucifix Kingdom

Any of you know about any of the ones in that first category or any other good Nephehist games?

Shame Histoire is not translated since it's actually good. Nepheshel is just a prototype for the genre and is really ass to play.

Holy and Lightning are op (Lightning paralyses enemies, and holy is strong against most of them). Radiation is tricky but fun to use. Trip (or whatever it's called, the purple Luck based one) for easy mode (bombs is the strongest weapon the game, better don't touch the infinite ones unless you're desperate).

>>3642058
Wooden Ocean is about art and it's usage of AI art is about the removal of the artist from art.
>>

>>3642057
its a schizo game about making games. it doesnt waste a second on pretending it isnt schizo. main draw is the exploration and progression. including getting drip fed more of the author's mental breakdown. combat is OK to decent. not brainless but a step down from hat world and enchant for sure
>>
>>3643739
>not brainless but a step down from hat world and enchant for sure
you literally can't even compare them because HW and EF are free, while for some ungodly reason WO asks $20 while being worse than actual free games.
if they were all free and on equal footing, you might have an argument, but no one should pay for that shit. not $20 goddamn us dollars.
