How does the jewelry box system work?
Do I lose all the equipment I equipped on my party leader if I finish their story, put them in the box and then start with another character?
>>
>>3637410
It stays on the leader, you might not get it back for a while. But it is a good idea to have them equipped for later.
>>
>>3637410
Equipment on the character stays on the character, and if you try to put the gear in separately on future laps you'll be blocked from doing so because it's already in the box (on the character)

Ok did Lavie, Natalie and Shiki's stories, dunno how but the order I'm taking is also delivering the reveals in a very satisfying order.
I'm not sure what happened to Dora and her sisters tho, they went to a puppet show and...? Some modern mascot horror bs happened? Also how does Chris have a hat if she still has a body? Can her hat even eat her?
>>
>>3638930
They're both mad scientists
>>
>>3638969
Dora's older sister died of the hattening iirc. Chris ambiguously may or may not be susceptible to getting hatted. It doesn't come up. There are advance warning signs so I'm sure she could just unplug from the system if that's what it came to.
>>
>>3638969
First thing is never further elaborated on within the game, unless there's a clue that went over my head. Enu might've mentioned it in a blogpost like Lavie cutting her arms
For Chris, her hat can't eat her, for reasons that will become more clear after the other routes. From the routes you've played, you can infer that there's loopholes to use or unleash hats without being their Keeper, with the Keeper being the one affected by it.
>>
>>3639222
I see, so a bunch of addendums are in the Dev's blog.
Does he mention anything about who was the keeper that Julietta wanted to help in the magic master tournament? My theory is that it was the former earth master since pumpkin girl is not a keeper and Julietta uses earth magic in the battle tournament. Considering the halloween theme of pumpkin, girl it could have even been the keeper of autumn, also because there is a keeper of spring and a keeper of summer, pumpkin girl could have been a former friend of said keeper.

Janice's character is somewhat lackluster but her story is carried by the final fight and extra focus on secondary party members.
The fact you can get both Kelly and Primrose very early also makes it quite easy, and hat unleash trivializes magironika.

Fun facts, aside from their special arts, the cafe girls actually have unique gem sets!
Most characters have Defense UP capped at lv 3, but Minmin can bring hers all the way up to lv 5.
Likewise, Julie has Resurrection lv 3 whereas everyone else is stuck with lvl 2. And of course, these can also be amplified by the Master Gem as well
Polly doesn't get shit. But she is cute. No idea about Audrey

Sis your Jewelry Box??? Like, you have the opportunity to grind if you need it, but you had six playthroughs to get resources and level up different girls. Not every group has to be optimal, but you should be able to field a solid team with whoever you have.
And don’t worry *too* much about the self eaters - Janice by herself is still just an absolute monster of a unit. As long as you’re going in with a little bit of a plan and not at max values you should be fine
>>
>>3641047
Lower Janice's Values. Even if you didn't jewelry box everyone, their base stats and equipment on that route is good enough to pull their weight for the first part. Trying to solo the wolf at max Values is just gambling on block luck, and the odds aren't remotely in your favor for it.
>>
>>3641075
The biggest problem on phase 1 is the goddamn fetus who sponges damage even though all my heavy hitters are stationed on it and if I leave him alone he starts munching on Mel like a Kit Kat bar.
>>
>>3641087
Dreams is definitely the most dangerous one outside of the doggo.
DESU I would not leave that fight until it's settled.

Some potential strategy nonsense if you want to look at it instead of figuring out your own stuff - Use Independent for tactics - it lets you deal very solid damage on the baby without cranking up it's Anti-Combo OS. And then when you're close enough that you'll finish it in max 2 turns then you can run Combo Lead and do big damage that way. I'm also a fan of the Fire Grand Magic here - if you get the attack buff on Janice she'll keep it while she hops around fights (not for the last one tho). Once you've taken down the baby, feel free to throw a soul pill or two on Janice so she can keep Moon Scarpering through everything. Love and Despair Magic are really cracked, so Life and Toys shouldn't be nearly as much of a problem.
You should probably have Resurrection Gems on pretty much everyone in the fight, especially the other main girls. Antikythera Mechanism and Buddha's Remains OOParts go a long way on Janice, you have some leeway on the 3rd choice, but those are basically must-haves.
>>
>>3641087
It won't use Combo Counter unless you do a combo yourself, which is the main thing that results in wipes. I generally save it for second and burst it in two turns after Mel's group chips it a bit.

What's your favorite version of the Big Mama fight?
>>
>>3641216
It sorta passed by me? By doing Mel's route last, the fight was much easier than it should have been, so it didn't last very long, and the same general deal happened with Yoko's route too. I think I'm a bit more of a fan of Mel's fight just for the story impact of it, but that doesn't really say anything about the fight itself.
If I wanted to give a better opinion on it I'd probably have to do a fresh route.
>>
>>3641145
>>3641180
Yeah I managed in the end, trick was to alternate between Mel and Lavie (Dora solo'd its self-eater) and make sure to switch into non combo tactics against the baby, Dahlia would also buff me in between visits to the reaper so it was convenient. Also fucking hell it's yet another JRPG where they ass pulled a final fight with God, you cannot make this up Time to do all these sub-events first tho, I really hope this frozen orb I was given triggers some frozen four gag.

I got curious after I came across an old blogpost where enu said he didn't even abuse metal slimes when playtesting bosses, since he didn't want to require the player to do that. Hubris led me to think the final route without jewelry box wouldn't be much worse, but no ooparts, formations, time magic, accessories, or even recipes for consumables above C sure cut out a lot of things I would've liked for Matryoshka. Didn't help that I probably should've made some maces or spears before going in and forgot to keep a save at the base to fix that, but it was nice having to apply strategy beyond mashing the strongest attacks in Last Stand for once...even if it was 15-30 minutes per attempt.
>>
>>3644346
>abuse metal slimes
They can be abused for anything other than crystals? Is it because their decoy level is high enough to farm stats easily? But if you are unlucky they die in 3 hits.
>>
>>3644514
Just the crystals, they're the same as any other decoy for other purposes.
>>
>>3644514
You could spam sleep moves on command repeat indefinitely if they're net zero cost.
>>
>>3644346
>>3644346
I tried to do final route without carryovers or grinding as well but I got my save file softlocked at true route hat eaters. You need to raise most of the characters to survive decently long for that fight, you cant have support bitches that just spam buffs or potions to enable your carries. And if you are rushing down or locking down enemies to get through the game (meaning your characters don't get enough raises in defense stats) you can't rely on that anymore because the cpu is too stupid to use paradigm shift/heals/block until your main party can swap in.
You can only bring 4 characters into the level as well so if all your characters are not raised you can't grind to fix them unless you have a file further back.
>>
>>3644959
That sounds like a fun challenge. I assume you didn't grind revive and resurrect gems ahead of time?

>the cpu is too stupid to use paradigm shift/heals/block until your main party can swap in
You get unlimited swaps per turn. Every turn you can go through all parties and activate all instants (summons, bits, paradigm, oversoul if appropriate, love magic if you have it). Not perfect but it's a good power boost.
Another trick: killing a boss also skips the turn for all other parties, this works like time stop with regards to oversoul and buffs, so it's at worst a free turn and might be more than that.
>>
>>3644993
I wasn't softlocked then, I actually wasn't aware of those mechanics. I did already delete the file since I thought it was fucked.
I could have definitely beat shiki's boss in 1 turn if I grinded appropriately on that level alone by just using ringo drive twice on the first turn with rewind and that water spell that gives mana.
>>
>>3645500
That entire section is held together with duct tape and I'm amazed the dev could do it with RPGM at all, I'm sure there are more exploits and weird interactions. I wasn't surprised time markers were disabled for instance.
>>
>>3644959
Only up to Battle 1 but so far my worst fuckup was not realizing I couldn't do enough screen changes to unlock air dashing in Life 3 without double jump which also means no Lupin's Note for easy ooparts.
Everything's been fairly reasonable after Matryoshka, but I'm worried about the final boss since I've been focused on magic, so my Yoko's gonna be potato there unless there's a Zenoa handout I forgot about
>>
>>3645559
Either the Self Eaters or ISRM were said by Enu to be the greatest source of pain in terms of creating the fights.
>>
>>3646273
That fight's full of jank too, there's all sorts of inconsistencies in which attacks hit how many enemies and how it affects split and damage.
Time markers are also disabled in Maris final phase come to think of it.
>>
is there a reason why light fairy + bits is instant cast on Frederica but not on Shiki, even if both are using a Level 6 Light gem? still trying to figure out all the mechanics as a new players
>>
>>3646749
For most instant cast spells, they're instant with the respective element gem equipped but take your turn with All Magic. Summons are different and become instant cast at Lv16 mastery, even using All Magic.
>>
>>3646755
hah, thanks for the clarification, i had thought that it might be mastery related when shiki was a much lower mastery level, but when it still wasnt instant at 15 mastery i was beginning to doubt it, funny that she was 1 level away from getting it

That line would fit rural dialects too. Seems fine for a character with a coarse manner of speaking.

In parts of the american south, whites talk like that too. It's far more correct to refer to the way the average zoomer talks as ebonics. Afaik, Prim never calls anyone her nigga either.
>>
>>3646814
"True" Ebonics is a fundamentally different dialect of English and features additional and distinctly different grammatical components not present in standard American English. A generic US Southern accent is not Ebonics. I shouldn't be astounded at the ignorance of people on 4chan but at least do a google search or two before making a post like this.

>>
>>3641216
Is this the result of some timely cutscene skipping, or something else?
>>
>>3641216
Out of all the fights I think that's the fight who scales the hardest at higher values since there's no easy way to skip the gimmick.
>>
>>3647166
The first time you're in the desert, spam air dash and dropkick near the barrier guarding the quicksand to clip through it. Go down, kill the robot and you'll warp back "home". Your only option is to walk out the right door as you don't have a hat. This sequence breaks to that part of the three-team raid.

The biggest boost comes from getting the hat to begin with, for soul the max cap is 300.

Most are about a 30-50% increase between min and max values.
Janice's hat is the technical outlier, with the stat cap going from 20 to 50. Since stat gain odds fall off a cliff above the enemy rank, in practice you usually don't have stats above the low 20s in normal gameplay or low 30s with autistic grinding.
>>
>>3649695
lavie gives a solid boost and is close to free as long as you don't let her trigger oversoul and there are plenty of ways to do that

Got me curious, never paid attention to stats and decided to do the math on where they soft cap.

>Min: Worst case scenario. Ex. Bow Tsubame casting magic to level STR.
>Avg: Zero biases. Ex. Dora using sword arts to level STR.
>Bias: Growth favored by weapon and character. Ex. Yuno using dual gun arts to level DEX.
>Max: Mace Primrose casting magic to level MAG.

>Decoy rank 10
Min: 8
Avg: 11
Bias: 15
Max: 18

>Decoy rank 21 (endgame)
Min: 12
Avg: 17
Bias: 22
Max: 26

>Decoy rank 30 (Frozen Four)
Min: 15
Avg: 21
Bias: 28
Max: 33

Always thought most stats below 20 on each character at endgame was because I didn't grind, but I guess that's actually par for the course.
>>
>>3650575
It's odd that the stat cap is that high when it's impossible to obtain unless you pointlessly grind it.
Even more reasons why a scaled NG+ would have been good.
>>
>notice the weapon arts that use mana don't use weapon power, they're effectively spells
>high power compared to spells that can combo in both directions
>consider that bows could have crit magic like this, which also sidesteps bows generally having low power
>Tornado Shoot is the only one that's a one-way combo
why
>>
>>3650577
I'm guessing it's to leave the autistic grinding option on the table for the people who insist on winning by numbers, but it is weird to put values like that as a reward that won't matter for the majority of players.
I would've loved a scaled NG+, pretty much every boss in this game is great but it's way too easy to reach a point where they don't pose a threat.
>>
>>3650773
Yeah if Enu ever gives a third revisit to this game then I only want 2 things:
>Scaled NG+
>Sub-Events changing based on route
These 2 are the biggest issues with the game right now, and hinder replayability in a game that wants to be played multiple times.
The sub-events don't even have to be completely different, just make them so each main characters approaches the issue at hand in a different way.
>>
If you hacked the Demon Egg into the NG+ routes would it just work?

>>3650922
>The sub-events don't even have to be completely different, just make them so each main characters approaches the issue at hand in a different way.
Or even just dialogue, characters like Janice vs Mel would never give the same reply to a question.
>>
>>3651006
Sometimes they have different dialogue, and I think Mel is the one who has the most (even just adding a few ' to express how she talks) but it's really the same.
It's weird to do something like the toy factory riot as Mel and have it play out in the same way as the other characters, with no one addressing the very clear elephant in the room of her appearance.
>>
>>3651022
Mel is much hotter…
>>
>>3650577
>>3650773
Looking at my endgame characters Ignoring Dora with the +10 on everything from Despair Magic I only have 2 characters that have cracked 30 - and that's Kelly with a 31 on Dex and Natalie with a 32 on Mag - things they're very much built for and have focused on. It's sorta silly they go that high.

That said - there is one grinding loophole that I think could be viable if someone cared enough. Because the beach event gives everyone who attends a +1 to Water magic, if you just jewelry box your party over, you can speedrun routes with OP characters and just keep on raising water levels without worrying about grinding fights/usages at all.
I don't know why you'd want to subject yourself to that, but it should work.

>third revisit
I think the only additional thing I can think of aside from just "more" which is silly, would be some way of differentiating the base girls (Melissa, Chocolat, Meshleia, Tsubame, Yuno) mechanically, because while I love all of them, they definitely get lost in the sauce when you're making a team down the line. Yuno especially feels weird when you get her back right at the end of the game and she's got nothing else. That feels like a missed opportunity for her to come back with something for the sidequest bosses and the final fight.

Even if they deserve to be the weakest due to not being Keepers or Providers, it would've been nice if they were thrown a bone as well. In gameplay, values are lowered when you beat up decoys. There is an exception for a couple of worlds based on violence, in those (you will be told) values are lowered when you run away from decoys.
>>
In a broader sense "values" represent a world's sense of inner harmony. Worlds are founded on a central value or idea. As decoys reflect their world, destroying them is desecrating a symbol of what the world is about. Keepers acting against their own values also lowers their strength, for example, the keeper of the world of locks grows weaker when they reveal a secret.

is the only way to beat this nigga to keep him from OSing? even Resurrection doesn't work when he wipes your whole fucking party.

btw the magic tournament is awesome for how it encourages you to learn the actual mechanics of magic and the strengths/weaknesses of each type. even if half of the mages can be killed in one blast
>>
>>3673274
He is weak to magic and AoE spells are very good for obvious reasons, you can kill him pretty fast by exhausting all his jammings turn 1 then go for Ringo Drive abuse, also yes stopping OS through toki no freeze or Primrose's lock is good for pretty much any late game boss.
>>
>>3673274
slow playing with os inhibitor tactic, justice moves, aoe healing and defensive buffs is another approach for many bosses with lethal oversoul if >>3673278 isn't enough.
his os attack is a two-part move. in general if a boss has a dangerous multi-part attack you should pay attention to the timeline and consider if you can do something useful in between attacks such as heal, manipulate mana, use an item, debuff, attack an add...
for magironika, i believe you can cheese him with flip turn so he attacks first and summons second.

It ignores trigger gems and fires a ridiculous number of shots. Do something about the OS gauge or the bits, you're not meant to survive it at full power.

Sadly this is the only fight the second spoiler works on, but I can confirm that's abusable so long as you're able to kill all the bits before every OS turn

Does it work with Clock Girl's mana item into Ringo Drive combo? For that one I snuck in a mana draining spell when possible so Ringo Drive did nothing.

thanks guys. this game is so fucking awesome. might even beat out EBF5 for my favorite battle system
>>
>>3673274
Honestly one of my favourite bosses in the game, more than some of the route bosses.
He’s one of the most upfront about being a puzzle, but unlike say something like The Cook where you’re set up with one built-in solution, it’s very open ended so you’re encouraged to run though all your options and try to find something that’ll work. And if you’re not cheesing the dungeon you’re also coming in with most of your party’s Soul gone as well, so that adds another layer to it.

As far as I know I was the first person to come up with the strategy described in the second spoiler here >>3673375 , and taking something that was normally pretty useless and turning it into a super-effective weapon for a difficult fight because that’s just how the system mechanics work - that felt great when it actually worked.
>>
>>3673458
yeah he's really cool. I ended up timing it so I could use wind grand magic to shock him for his first OS and then using a mana potion at the last second to toki no freeze his second OS. maybe next run, I'll try to use a full-magic team, because magic is cool as shit
>And if you’re not cheesing the dungeon you’re also coming in with most of your party’s Soul gone as well, so that adds another layer to it.
that's true, and you can get around that by chugging soul potions before the fight (limiting the number of items you have midfight) or bringing OOParts that let you use mana for your arts. it's cool that for every constraint you're given, there are like half a dozen strategies to get around it. except for the chef, who seems to only be counterable with Mikiri

btw, what do I do with the Magironika core I got from the boss? I thought I could use it to get past the hieroglyph door at the bottom of the Primordial Cave, but nothing happens there. also, I'm pretty sure I'm at the end of Dora's main story, but the fake Eris plotline hasn't been resolved yet. am I missing a hidden sidequest?
>>
>>3673476
The core comes in use later, once you’re on the other side of that door. Iirc, if you haven’t already you need to finish Julietta’s quests, Polly’s quests, and one other one that’s not related to a bigger quest-line the vampire in the World of Law to get through the cave.
The one you’re talking about, plus 2 others Fiction and Friends are their own big things that don’t tie into the cave
>>
>>3673476
being able to change how you pay costs on the fly is valuable. remember, you can run multiple magic gems on one character. sometimes you can get good stuff for free.

>>3673274
the best lesson from the magic tournament is summons are good once they're instant. also don't ringo drive time mages lol
>>

just finished Dora's route. the moment I realized that Matroyshka would keep shrinking, I couldn't stop grinning like a retard. that was an awesome fight.
btw, is there some way to see if there are any sidequests that still need doing? and can I recruit Prim in this route?
also, I think I got spoiled from a thread a long time ago about Dora getting access to some signature magic or something? maybe I'm misremembering, but I do know that certain characters do get unique skills so I was wondering if maybe it's legit
>>
man fuck the frozen four. what the fuck is this horseshit.
also, this game gives you a lot of tools to have a tank, but I'm not sure it's actually a good strategy. even with the upgraded defend and high defense, you still get owned by any strong boss that full aggros for even one turn
>>
>>3675169
pressing f12 opens the sub event list, all characters are recruitable in every route, for the spoiler question, don't worry about it.
>>
>>3675169
>>3675210
F5 opens the event list.
>>
>>3675191
I've been kind of sour on tanking too. There's strategies that work well in a subset of fights, and singular turns where a sacrificial lamb can salvage a loss, but in a game where most things are designed to be 2-3hkos it usually doesn't end well setting one character up to take 3-5 attacks if they can't blank the bulk of them with Windmill.
>>
>>3675419
>>3675191
Blocking / Cover Blocking can be pretty strong, but it requires the right OOParts And is a lot better with Janice and >>3675419 is right that fast, hi-damage fights are generally better.
It’s something to consider working into your party build, but imo shouldn’t be the sole focus of a character.

Re:F4 It is a doable fight in any route if you want to keep trying, but there is cheese if you want it - left spoiled here Buy the fancy swimsuit recipe. You only need to make one. They resist water damage 100%, which is all the damage that they do.
>>
>>3675191
I would be bigger on tanking if bosses had more health. It's more efficient to play fast, mix in heals and solve oversoul once or twice.
>>
>>3675456
Even Blocking feels like a trap at times. When it's good it's really good, but in most fights eating blockable attacks and getting OS+counters is safer than blocking them and having the boss OS when you have no OS and half HP.

finally got the FF after a whole day of attempts.
the strategy I settled on was making Mesh into the tankiest thing ever with Palenque King's Coffin and a Lumiere Etoile+10 as well as an Ace of Spades for water resist, and Tsubame wouldn't be far behind with the Shako Clay Figure giving her automatic Defend. Tsubame would start off the fight by using Ringo Drive and un-petrifying Mesh before attempting to put them all to sleep SEVEN times in a row, doubled to fourteen with her dualspell. then she'd use Wonder World to fully buff the party and use up all the mana so the priest and warlock couldn't have any.

I got lucky and put everyone to sleep except for the knight, and I was able to focus down him and then the warrior with my full-aggro, no-defense Dora and Melissa before the priestess and warlock woke up. I gave Mesh max aggro, and she was able to absorb most individual attacks and OSes from the wakened enemies, and I used the Combo Break tactic to prevent any combos as they woke up. it was hard-fought but it was also awesome.

>>3676866

>>3676878
3%. I hoped the book of the dead would double it to 6%, but that doesn't work for whatever reason. I did the math, and I think it's basically a 57% chance for at least two of them to fall asleep if you cast the spell 14 times. I got 3, which was a little lucky but not astronomical. the real luck is that they stayed asleep for nearly 10 turns or so while I killed their brethren.
>Based if you were grinding out 0.1%
I'm not THAT insane, but if I was, I would go for instant kill instead of sleep lol.
>>
>>3676905
Chris-s dialogue changes with each character, it's a bit annoying to complete all sub events to unlock it but it's a nice bit of lore.

currently during an all-mage run with Lavie, Natalie, Frederica, and Prim. it's pretty interesting to have to manage mana and actually make use of Mysterion and Sacrifice, but it's also difficult to make them all feel different.
I'm not sure an all-physical party would work

>>3678709
the berserk cook alludes to it before his fight, saying that anyone can get on top of the cars if they can jump like he can. I think that's how I found out
>>
>>3678747
I don't think you really want them feeling different in an all-mage run. Fit in utilities where you need them, but having everyone share their offensive element synergizes better with the element gauge.
I can't think of anything that all-physical wouldn't work for offhand, but it'd take much more careful use of Oversoul and formations and more attention given to gear/stats. Not having time magic or buffs blows, and healing items are pretty ass.
>>
>>3678747
I think most of it would be beatable with max trigger gems and arts spam if you run powerful characters like Janice and Kelly. Maybe a defmaxed decoy spear user would help with some fights. You'd want OOParts that preserve OS on death to not get tempo shredded if you catch a KO. Use Apocolypse and that OOPart that makes arts cost magic on one character for a funny anti-mage.
>>
Mysterion is broken btw. If someone makes a Hat World Balance Patch double the soul cost or at least make that book a red artifact
>>
how do the "when attached to a weapon/accessory and dismantled, will enhance the weapon/accessory" OOParts work?
because so far, from what I've seen, the weapon versions will either change the weapon type or do nothing, but they will not make the weapon go up a rank or anything.
and for the accessory ones, they produce rubbish no matter what I attach them to. what am I missing here?
>>
>>3679764
For weapons, it converts the weapon to the type that corresponds to the given oopart. If you use it on a rank 10 weapon of the corresponding type, it upgrades to rank 11. If you use it on a rank 12 weapon, it downgrades to rank 11 of the corresponding type.
The accessory ones are very specific and don't unlock anything brand new. Off the top of my head one changes the -light damage accessory to angel halo (or vice versa) and the other swaps between two dark accessories, but it's not something I made use of or found out about until looking it up after the fact.
>>
>>3679918
thanks for telling me about the accessories, because these two are pretty good.
as for the weapons. I tested it out just now, and it seems that while it WILL upgrade a rank 11 weapon to 12, it doesn't upgrade a rank 10 weapon. tested with the OOParts Mammon's Bullet on the S&W M29, the rank 10 gun, and it didn't get upgraded at all. meanwhile, using Mammon's Bullet on the rank 11 Desert Eagle 50AE upgrades it to the rank 12 Chaos Dragoon. using Mammon's Bullet on the Chaos Dragoon does nothing.
>it's not something I made use of or found out about until looking it up after the fact.
is there anywhere to look this stuff up? I don't think there's a wiki at all

on an unrelated note, Love Magic Lavie is incredibly overpowered lol
>>
>>3680100
Whoops, was going by memory and forgot what the top rank was, slide all those numbers up by one. Prim's Keyrod is useful for an easy rank 12 of any type if you aren't using her.
There is a Japanese wiki, but it's loose with spoilers - even in the sidebar - so I don't recommend using it during your first time through the routes, but the link is https://w.atwiki.jp/newlittleworld/

Natalie's route was pretty damn cool. And it gives you a completely different perspective on Lavie's route, huh? It's too bad that the final boss died way too quickly for how scary the mechanics were. I was able to nuke it down in three or four turns.

I think perhaps having an all-mage party is actually incredibly powerful. With the right setup, you basically have full control of the battlefield and can shit out disgusting amounts of damage/buffs/heals. Next up, I'm playing Janice and going to challenge myself with a fully martial party. I'll use the jewelry box to start with OOParts and equipment to make it easier I think.
>>
Well I just accidentally saved over my Natalie save file. Fuck. Hopefully everything is going to be okay? I already put everything of value in the jewelry box.
>>
>>3682660
In terms of jewelry box it won't hurt anything. It'll be unfortunate if you forgot to put something in it still wanted to do something in the route, though.
I've done that to myself with several route clear saves too, it remembers the last slot you saved to so it's easy to overwrite while going through the motions on the next route.

Thanks for the reassurance. I guess I did want to use that save file to see if I could blow through all my Fatimas and still have them in the jewelry box, but I guess I'll do that this run instead.

In brighter news, I found out that so long as you stock up on Resurrection and Oversoul items to stay strong, an all-martial team can shit out so much damage that it's disgusting. No need to control the battlefield if you can slaughter everyone. Serviata got pwned and the poor Cook didn't even get to strike.
>>
>>3682760
OOParts carry over in one pool. Either you can bring the fatimas or you can use it on an item and bring that item over (though that'll be more expensive with box space) but it wouldn't let you double up on them like that. Don't worry about grinding Fatimas too much though - you don't really need to.

>>
>>3682827
I went through the fight to try out all the possibilities awhile back, but I don't entirely remember my findings. The main change is, if anyone dies, the end bit of the ending is removed and the conversation between Jacou and Big Mama is different than if everyone survives (only two versions of this). The only other part that changes is the sequence with the World of Battle collapsing, which I think had the following conditions for variations
>Everyone survives
>Someone dies
>Only Janice survives (Janice and Jacou reach out to each other, but Janice hesitates and pulls back)

It's such a good final boss, I love the presentation

That's really fucked up. Don't think my heart could have taken that, but I respect the boldness of the game for making the stakes real.
Props to Enu; he consistently makes the most exciting final bosses I've ever encountered in ANY game. I don't think I've ever been more hyped for a final boss than when I fought Matryoshka, the Infinitely Self-Replicating Machines, or the Self-Eaters, and the special gimmicks and mechanics purely doubled the fun. My only complaint is that there's no way to make the final bosses harder (except for Janice's), because if you're good enough to beat the FF, then the final boss is trivial in comparison.

Up next for me is Shiki's route, before finally going to Mel. I'm a bit sad because I know I'll probably be reaching the end of Hat World soon enough, and I'll have to say goodbye to all these characters I've grown to love.

There ARE a few things I still don't know, however, like What is this world they live in? It seems like some kind of simulation, but what actually IS it, and why was it made? And is it truly important? It seems like half of the routes barely even hint at this despite it seeming like the truth of Hat World.
Who the fuck decided that hats and keepers should have this kind of tragic relationship? Natalie points out that perhaps the hats themselves feel more for the worlds they create than just pain, but how did this come about to begin with?
What actually is Capture, and will Melissa ever truly realize that she's actually Eris, pretending to be Melissa?
What actually is Prim's deal, what happened in her past, and what hasn't she told us yet?
Why does the Primordial Snowfield exist in Lavie's world seemingly without her knowledge? Speaking of Lavie, this anon >>3644093 references a suicide attempt in the past, though I think perhaps any reference to that has flown over my head during the routes I've played through. Still, I'm not sure it would be entirely impossible for her to have felt that way once, even if it makes me sad to think about.
And the most mysterious character of all:Who the fuck is Yoko, where did she come from, and will she ever go back home?

Oh yeah, and also Dark Enoji and Shimeji, can I ever beat them? lol

It's true that Melissa admits having a strange feeling about that in Janice's route, and someone outright says it's the truth in Dora's route, but I don't think Melissa has ever had a moment where she openly acknowledged being Eris, with her "sacrifice" not actually saving anyone.

Translation from your image:"The scars on both wrists were there before she lost her body, but Natalie completely misunderstood them, so she uses special makeup to hide them when necessary, such as when swimming in the sea." Shit, I know I've gotten too invested in Hat World when knowing that Lavie cut herself gives me actual heartache. I almost didn't notice how incredibly curvy she is.
Still, I wonder if I'll get more info on the creation of each world and what each level means to the keeper. Like the existence of the graveyard level praising death (in her route, Lavie has to deny death in order to lower her own values and make the perpetual engine possible, though I don't feel like I've ever seen a circumstance where she actually seems to appreciate the value of death outside of the developments that occur AFTER the start of her route), or the existence of Janice's desert level run by a might-makes-right decoy boss who rapes you if you lose (a weird decision to make, considering that up to this point, Janice has never won the battles that truly matter. Seems to me she's secretly an M...). It's been expressed a few times that some keepers might not be good matches for their hats. Is it possible that the hat makes the worlds without the keeper's input?

Just tested it on my finished save files on Dora's and Lavie's routes; I cannot seem to raise the values of the final world above 20% and 52% respectively. I've noticed this is the case for many keepers, too, when you get to their final level to fight them: their world's values just stop going up after a certain point (with the exception of Janice, whose values are always raised by battle).
It's annoying because it means that, on New Game+ playthroughs, I have to steamroll the keepers and then rematch them if I want to fight them at their full strength. Is there any way to bypass this?

I'd agree it works as a starting point since, well, that's what release order dictates, but it feels weird to recommend a new player to start with it. Strikes me like recommending someone to start 13 Sentinels with Renya Gouto's story (which the game doesn't let you do, but pretend it did). You'd still learn new things going backwards from that, but it'd trample a good deal of foreshadowing and buildup.
For whatever it's worth, the suggested play orders for story purposes on the wiki are
>the og Hat World experience
Start with Mel, end with Janice
>foreshadowing into reveals
Janice > Dora > Natalie > Lavie > Shiki > Mel
>>
>>3685894
There's also the fact that the English, Chinese, and Korean fanbases didn't start with Hat World (2013), so it's voluntarily experiencing it the way the original Japanese fans did at that point.
Enu specified in blog posts that Dora and Janice routes were supposed to have a more traditional RPG feel to them, so it's not accidental that they work to ease a new player into the setting without revealing much about it and raise more questions than answers.
I guess there's still a case to be made for experiencing the release order or wanting to understand the setting from the get-go, but even as someone who usually insists on chronological order I don't see myself recommending an order beyond "start with Dora or Janice, save Mel for last". But ultimately all six routes are unlocked from the start and the player is free to pick whatever.
>>
The in-game order is good. Dora is the most bluepilled character and you get to stumble around in the dark with her. Shiki gives a strong hook to keep playing.
>>

starting the game, how does the doll get that long hair? she looks pretty, i want her like that
>>
>>3686078
You’ll get the option to switch her hair near the end of your route.
And enjoy, Hat World’s a very fun game
>>
>>3686078
Completing all side quests unlocks a hair style change for her specifically
sadly that criteria does not carry over between routes

Going purely by design, Shiki's my pick. But as an overall package it's tough to choose, each girl has plenty going for her.

>>
Shiki's battle with Polly, Juliette, Minmin, Sarasvati, and Jasmine on the train was pretty cool in concept, except they all got annihilated instantly which was anticlimactic. I suppose that's the hazard of playing in NG+

None of them have unleashed hats, so they're unsurprisingly squishy. It is a bit of NG+ too though, that fight can turn messy if you don't have the firepower to shut them down before the gimmicks or multiple oversouls get rolling.

The presence of the Ringo Drive Counter is dependent on the cat-ears so that one is available.

Logically, that would be the case. In practice the passive doesn't unlock until chapter 39, even though she has the ears well before then. It'd be on the top line if she had it.

Sent the post too soon anyway long story:
2 is Shiki's character ID, if the game switch 366 is active then the character id 2 will use the animation set 02NekoShiki
To define if a character is a Ringo Drive Master the requirement is the character ID 2 and the game switch 366
If the character is a Ringo Drive Master when the Ringo Drive state is applied to the character(by getting it cast on them) it removes the state and triggers the Ringo Killer sequence
The Ringo Drive resistance ignore is triggered with the presence of both cat ears [366] and absence(!) of the No hat switch [22]
>>
>>3689787
Damn you're right. I thought it was connected to the ears too. It should be!

I've been through that route four times now and somehow never noticed her sprite had the hat again at the very end, lmao
Hat+ears makes sense and also makes the timing make much more sense. Strange that it's the only character upgrade to drop in unceremoniously without a notification.

Still chugging along through Shiki's route and doing the Eris quest. And regarding Melissa being Eris:
I just realized that Melissa thinks of the hidden spot in Sleeping Tower Butterfly Space to be "her" and "Eris's" spot, but in Serena's memories, it's revealed that the spot was actually Serena's and Eris's. Has the "new" Melissa misremembered Eris's memory as her own, filling in the gaps to make it fit?
Also, I just now realized that Serena was visited by the Human Sphere (maybe specifically because she was in Sleeping Tower Butterfly Space, where it likes to reside) to get her hat. I think this is only instance so far that we get to actually see someone get a hat.
And now that I think about it, I'm starting to wonder what exactly was happening to Minmin in Lavie's route that she "almost" got a hat but didn't. What the hell does that mean?

I've very much been enjoying Shiki's unique dialogue as well as conversations with Tsubame during certain sidequests. If only every protagonist could have had unique dialogue and interactions with every sidequest, then grinding them all out in every playthrough would be a little less tedious. At least the newgame+ additions like floor warping make them tolerable.

Well, uh, all's well that ends well, I think.

I didn't expect it to feel so tragic to learn why each of the heroines ended up in Hat World. It especially hurt to know that my precious Lavie committed suicide.

And poor Yuno's just got her cats overwritten. I wonder if maybe Tsubame doesn't join you in the ending if you never get that cat from the Peopleless Theme Park.

Only thing that changes for not doing the sidequest is not getting the dialogue about their plans following it, so the end twist isn't foreshadowed until much later in the route. The cat's already hooked to the system and didn't exactly consent either way.

last English update was March 2023, already in the mega link

Talking to Prim at home gets you a (expensive) Keyrod recipe, so you have a fallback if you destroy the Keyrod then jewelry box Prim
One boss nerfed under specific conditions
New portrait for Yoko
Some updated sprites in an ending
