Wandering Sword is getting a big update in a couple of days, haven't tried the game yet.

Is it a good martial arts rpg? Played alot of Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion previously.
>>
Honestly wouldn't mind more martialarts focused rpgs that weren't chinese. Their Wuxia/Cultivaion tend to be a bit incestuous in all using the same concepts in how plots, events and even characters are formed.
Wouldn't mind a modern day martial arts adventure in the vein of street fighter or other fightign games settings. Sort of like SF6s World Tour mode if it was a proper fully developed rpg instead of a weird quasi-formed fighter side-mode thing.

This is another one hitting its full-release tomorrow.

It's a pretty good jrpg.
The encounters are a mini tactics screen (kinda like Live a Live) which can be done as turn based or real time.and you decide the exact prorgession of abilities and mvoesets.
They key feature of the game is interacting with npcs and companions for training/challenging them to not just earn progression points but also equipment, loot and possibly their moves.
One could say your progression is gated by whether you can beat NPCs who hoard good manuals/moves to learn. It may give octopath vibes, but it's not exactly the same as path actions.

There are secondary mechanic/attributess like crafting, cooking etc, but only crafting has true impact.

The story and way it progresses is pretty linear, but the map opens up at times allowing you to explore beyond your weight so to speak.

I found it pretty charming, but if I had to point a few issues, it woudl be:
a) Some companiosn barley interject and barely have content even in their own 'quest
b) Story falls off (the second to last act in particular ) excluding the very final encounter, the second to last act in particular
c)Not enough side content that is engaging beyond meeting someone and doing one fight (but there are a couple great side questlines).
d) Some things are unintutive(companion evenst and recruitment, some martial art books etc) that are hard to get without a guide.
e) Easy to break intended progression if you are determined to challenge everyone , get manuals and grind to get them mastered

The DLC they released is great. It replaced the bad act I mentioned before essentially, and has better quest and boss sequence than the main game. And more companion involvement too.
If the new update content is similar, it will be fun.

This guide seems pretty good at least, only thing its going to lack is obviously any new stuff added in the update.

Jade Empire is still the best, for one reason.
>>
>>3642090
That's it out, giving the demo a try. Starting off its notable there is a gimmick of you being able to choose a male or female player character like this was pokemon (most of these kungfu games you just play as a dude, an unknown little shrimp entering the kung fu world for the first time).

You also get to choose their background as well, and alot of them are marked NG+ only so it seems like the game has a focus on replayability.
After that there's a bunch of stats to put points in and traits to pick.
>>
>>3642051
It's great but getting 100% is a bit obtuse. Like the fucking harem ending that requires a lot of balancing to keep all the love points equal
>>
>>3642865

Technically, if you get maximum flags for all of them, you get it without needing to check who's got more or less.

I bought World of Kungfu after playing the demo, been having alot of fun with it and turned out to be well worth the buy especially since its on the cheaper side.

Only thing I'm missing is maybe information on its gimmicks/gameplay systems, but haven't ran into anything that snookered me in my ignorance for the first 10 hours

Yes it's very important to kill yourself for being a coward who can't make decisions and fears the unknown when deciding to play a video game.
>>

The two big updates vastly change the last two chapters of teh game. Doing two runs or making a save at a ceratin point and reloading is reccomended, but if you feel it's more one and done, do it with the expanded content, not vanilla.

A few non-spoilery tips:
Active party members decide who enters battle with you, but for story purposes, you can assume everyone is there. No need to dismiss people al,ost ever.
Cultivation Methods are your biggest priority. to learn and master. The rest come afterwards
Meridian distribution:Conception>Yang>Penetrating>powergap>Yin>gap>The other 2
With 1 exception, there is no downside in gifting people and sparring with them. Do it for everyone you meet, if you can.
Hidden weapons are the hardest style to focus relatively, since it's slow to prorgess and get some good unique shit. Sword and Fist are most supported, but Saber is also good and polearm is ok.
Only crafting has good AND tangible rewards, so disassemble some equipment and sell some for materials to do some crafting , plus learning from people.
Medicine does good stat boosting, but it's easier to consume what you find.

If you play on your own, you will miss companions, quests and items. If you can live with that, good. Guides exist, but they spoil shit necessarily to an extent. I'd say do a vanilla ran and then a completions run with the updates, personally.

Inheritance points carry over for NG+ for a boost. Do not do a vanilla extreme difficulty run.

>>3644568

I'm still new to the genre enough for it to be fascinating and fresh for me, but also exposed to wuxia early enough for China and its tropes to be what I'm entranced by for years and years.
Also I think you're not only advocating for classic kungfu moviesala Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan, you're also unironically looking for shounen series like Dragon Ball, Naruto, or Yuyu Hakusho. A lot of shounen not only have martial arts combat(or combat that's heavily choreographed like martial arts), they have things like chi-like energies and blasts of it, and constant focus on training and self-improvement. Even if they're not directly taking from wuxia(DB definitely is), they are taking from greater cultural pool that both stem from.

>To be fair that is what the term DLC used to mean before it was hijacked by greedy corpos.
It used to be "expansion packs". DLC wasn't a thing until the mid-2000s and it started with horse armor.
>>
>>3645470
Expansion packs and DLCs were too different things.
DLC literally stands for downloadable content, and it used to be actual free patches and additional content.
Expansions were additional content that was paid but was often times as large as a new game of its own.
>>
>>3645510

What's the best weapon type to use?
>>
>>3647216
All weapon types get bullshit eventually.
Quick evaluation for a fresh game, sword>fist>saber>polearm>>>hidden weapons, but it's mostly for the first 3d of the game

The full explanation:
Best ones for new game are sword and fist . Easier to get manuals and synergy, get some good plot related ones, and you get some good plot related swords without crafting.
Sword is a bit better plus more useful ranges for the most part.

After that, you go with sabers and polearms (you get mroe companiosn who teach you their shit ealier on, both have good extra range on things).
Hidden weapons take a while to come online, since you have gaps on companiosn joining who can give you their shit, so it will be a bit mroe struggle for the first 3d of the game.

For a NG+ where you can inherit shit, you can set-up everything. In that regard, some say theoretically, polearms are the most bullshit for the latter half.

>>
>>3647282
The game is not hard by any means.
But if you start on harder difficulties, lack of relevant moves to learn and cultivation methods that boost them can be felt on the early game.
Starting on release on hard with secret weapons meant I had to run and do little damage on more challenging fights and only really got on tack after doing Leng Wuking's quest (six knacks is a great cultivation method'.

Same for polearms, you only really start to get bullshit when you do the beggar quest lines and recuit there

Infinite Four Symbols
Tai Chi Marvel Force
Guiyan Cultivation Method

The announcement they put out mentions specific party members are getting new story content, also adding a "Sworn Brotherhood" mechanic.

Yeah but what's important is the skills. Taixi, Shencang, Yindu, and Yangquan allow you to get turns faster through their effects.
Yongquan, Yinjiao, and Yangfu cripple the enemy, delaying their turns and reducing the actions they can take. And these work in tandem with Mountain Crush which lets you attack multiple times per turn, giving more chances to apply debuffs and further slow the enemy. The Wintry Blow cultivation method being equipped also lets you stack Frost at the same time. And then when you're getting two or more turns for every one the enemy is getting, and you have Yoga Sutras giving you regen per turn, you can then go with Soft Palm Strike and stack other DoTs while dishing out damage.
Most of your attack comes from gear and pills anyway, the strength stat isn't that important.

>Wandering Sword
how customizable is your fighting style?
One reason I don't like tactics jrpgs is that usually you don't get to customize your character much, unless it's a proper fft clone. At least I want to be able to select what weapon the main character uses.
>>
>>3642865
>harem ending
>there's a harem ending
ok fine I'll buy your game, chinks
>>
>>3656511
Quite customizable.
It's not class system dependent, you have to assemble your moveset ( so you pick 4 tiers of attacks based on weapon you actually equip, movement skills and 5 cultivation methods which are buffs/passives).
And plenty of attacks and cultivation methods have synergies, either obvious ones (like from the same school) or less obvious ones(like ways to maximize crit chance or stacking various debuffs).
Finally, progression system is decided on how you spend points on 7 different linear progression trees (meridians). What you choose to focus first , whether you max one tree first and then the rest or do a balanced approach makes a difference.

The reason I do not say extremely is that for the most part, you focus on one weapon. Even if you learn moves from all weapons, you do not really switch in combat and spending points to master them all is not feasible in normal runs. Also, meridians are stat boosts/passives, not active skills (but that is covered by the martial arts moveset you assemble)
>>
>>3656220
Di Zui got killed before he even got to his third turn. Frosty Condor isn't there because she got OHKO'd. Just look at Yang Liutu's stats.
>>
>>3656520
nice, as long as I get to pick my weapon I'm happy enough.
>>
>>3656521
I know, I have done this fight before and the one following it if you did everything possible is even worse (it's not needed to win that one but gives you endgame equipment)
>>
>>3656527
>I have done this fight before
On extreme? Because right now I don't even have any way to make Yi stronger, I have every possible cultivation method offered by all NPCs up to this point and they're all maxed out along with all of his skills, and I have all the best gear possible on all the characters at this point too. And I'm struggling to even beat the fight leading up to the fight with Liutu, let alone beating him with stats that ridiculously inflated. You can't even use food buffs to make it any easier because it's the third fight in a row.
>>
So

Chinese love to copy shit all the time. They do not have a concept of copyright so even if there is one on the west, they see it as strange. That is why all games are just copies of each other. Loved the game to bits, but I still missed a couple high end recipes for cooking and forging and some of the legacy items and some manuals still locked in inheritance.
I wonder if some manuals are locked behind bad/suboptimal decisions, like giving up companions or doing the violence path in Southern chronichles.
>>
>>3660753
some manuals are locked behind preventable plot deaths or even the old Nanjiang and endgame chapters
for example, getting the bad end to the Southern Chronicles campaign results in Ye Fei defending Xungu Pass instead of Bai Weiyi, who then dies but you get a sword manual from it
>>
>>3660762
I did play the vanilla routes last year.
The latter is a bummer, but I guess I could do a run for the last act and ignore every sidequest for the trainwrecklike not helping Di Zui or solving the murders, that's fewer hours than a fresh run .
>>
I just started playing yesterday, pretty fun so far

The open world means I end up in a lot of unwinnable fights and have to reload a lot. I guess you can cheese the progression by grinding duels?
>>
>>3660775
Grinding happens mostly with overworld enemies (for money, ingredients and martial points).
Duels can let you get lots of items, recipes and even some manuals but they break the game when you are strong enough to beat masters and consult them for endgame martial arts.
I'd advice against it in a fresh run
>>
>>3660425
believe it or not, different people do read threads and respond to old posts on slow boards
>>
>>3660777
Yeah I'm trying to avoid doing anything too game-breaking or following guides too much. I can generally accept some failures and reloading. It's a little frustrating though that there seems to be no indication whether a quest can be done right now or not.

For example this Earthshaking Dragon gigachad in some cave is a relatively early quest, but even when I went there with Mowen and Moqi in my party along with a decently levelled Hong and Bai Jin he beat our asses.
>>
>>3660422
No, the clones usually suck. Just look at what happened when Bruce Lee died.
>>
>>3660784
enemy name color changes based on a rough estimation of how strong they are compared to you
white > green > yellow > red, with red being the strongest
its not an absolute gauge of power and who you should or shouldn't fight, but it helps when you aren't fully familiar with the game and what your own power is
>>
>>3660835
Technically
grey>white > green > yellow > red.
Grey when you are far above them
>>
>>3660775
Here is something for you anon. Get that crafting going so that when you get those high level blueprints, you can make the super high level stuff. Materials are so easy to farm too and gear can make even the worse character decent without having to fill up their skill tree. Now, more than anything else. Please, PLEASE, look up a guide to see the companion shit. Some of that stuff is so fucking retarded. With you missing a single dialogue causing you to be unable to recruit someone which then later gives you a shittier ending because that character was important in the next part of the story.
>>
>>3660777
>Duels can let you get lots of items, recipes and even some manuals but they break the game when you are strong enough to beat masters and consult them for endgame martial arts.
But that's the literal main mechanic of the game. You're supposed to duel people to get good recipes and manuals.
>>
>>3660908
Sure, but if you grind and climb the duel ladder to the point you beat supreme masters while you are a rookie disciple, you kinda lost the plot IMO
>>
>>3660917
You talking about rookie story wise, or power level wise? You can only gift people 1 level higher then you, so you still have to do some of the story to gain access to people/abilities to raise your power level enough to even duel the supreme masters.
>>
>>3660897
The companion stuff was the one thing I was looking up a guide for, I didn't want to miss out on characters girls because I didn't talk to some obscure NPC before X event happens.

As for crafting, I just made my first Class V sword and I can see why it's important. The main thing was realizing I can disassemble all the crap items I've accumulated into useful parts. Also finding a vendor who sells Coal.
>>
>>3660938
I am sadden that the current steam guide spoils everything. Even though you could totally make a guide that spoils a lot less if one put effort into it. This is not even mentioning their sin of daring to say who best girl is.

So Road to Passion went on sale. How does it compare to the Wandering Sword? Is the DLC worth it?
>>
>>3662160
It kinda incentivizes replaying over and over for different events in the sandbox world.
Wandering hero is closer to a standard jrpg, road to passion at times feels like chink wuxia simulator + roguelike+way of the samurai. Also, much jankier (if existent) translation
>>
>>3662160
Yeah, I've played hundreds of hours in it, alot of fun.
Its pretty easy to get overpowered (particularly on NG+ if you use all the stuff you unlock) but there's still alot of stuff to enjoy.

They are going to add more content again soon going by their announcements.
>>
>>3662160
>>3662171
Also, gets portrait update tomorrow
>>
>>3662171
I liked way of the samurai quite a lot, so that's a plus. How long is a standard playthrough? And what's that about missing translation?
>>3662176
>>3662177
Is it better to wait then or is the game pretty "complete" right now? Is the DLC like an extension after you complete the game, or is it better to have it from the get go?
>>
>>3662181
The game is entirely complete, has been for a long time. Content updates are just adding more stuff for you to do during a particular playthrough.
You'll be playing through the game multiple times if you stick with it experiencing different things.

The one actual paid dlc they put out for the main game (not that sect side-game thing) is basically a different way to play through the game as the 'bad guys' as well as a new female party member to recruit/romance with her own major storyline to follow.
>>
>>3662177
Honestly I prefer the cartoony looking old art that is closer to the sprites. Glad its just an option they are adding to the game rather than a replacement.
>>
>>3662186
Thanks. I decided to buy it and that dlc. Anything to keep in mind going into it that maybe the lacking translation doesn't explain well?
>>
>>3662216
>>3662181
The translation is fine for Passion to play the game, its just a little pingpong sounding in its wording rather than natural flowing english. There's some dialogue-based quiz puzzles which probably only makes sense in Chinese but there's a guide on Steam for those.
>>
>>3662160
It does not. They are different type of games. People kept shitting on wandering hero because they wanted yet another copy pasted sandbox that is all the games on the genre. Since wandering hero was not that, they got angry. Road to passion is that. Take that how you will.
>>
>>3651670
Janky as fuck with a terrible translation. the english version ends up with more bugs than the chink version. Very not the 1.0 they have named it. Still damned good fun in spite of all that.

>>
Well, that was a surprise.
I did an extreme+modifiers run to unlock some manuals in the vanilla route and get more inheritance points.
And instead of the standard endgame sequence, I got a new Wudand duo ending where the game acknowledged me beating Weiming and Mowen did not go nuts so the hero meeting, xuanhao battles and final boss never happen. In my first run, which was fist based, at that point I could most of the field with Dragon Subduing palm(Li and Yun event at Autumnscape mountain in the same region ). Wow! This game is really rated Fucking highly on Steam, and the recent ratings are even higher than overall ratings!

Does this game really have any nocks against it at all or is it just completely solid?
>>
>>3663864
If you skip the dialogue for things you have seen and know what to gather/collect plus inhertitance points, it gets fast(just did a 22 hour run where I still wasted time on things) Jade Dragon Legacy is also broken.
You could try going the vanilla path to see the differences or get the bad endings to all quests and stick with a few companions only

>>3663874

Listen. People who hate these type of games are never going to buy it, therefore, will never leave a review. This is why steam rates mean nothing. You see, an example are visual novels. They are all overwhelmingly positive because everyone that buys them is not going to leave a negative review unless it is the literal worse thing on earth. Everyone else just ignores it.

Turns out it's not actually any of those, I just didn't read his cultivation method clearly enough. Any time his tai chi swordplay is on cooldown it means he'll automatically hit you with it as a counter any time you attack him from within two squares. So all you can do is use lightness skills when available to try and trigger it once and then get a second turn in before he does, although sometimes it triggers multiple times a turn anyway which it shouldn't be able to do.
>>
>>3665381
So it is Tai chi shit.
You get it too when you win
>>
What exactly is a Martial Arts RPG? Is it like everyone has abilities and moves kind of like Sabin did in FFVI?
>>

I did eventually beat him, definitely the hardest and probably the most gimmicky fight so far though.
I only just got the Yoga Arcanum but now I don't have the slots to use it anymore.

I did find room for it in the saber build run, but sword and fist have some very good specific bullshit

It certainly went a bit better in the 2nd NG+_ run than the first one, but it can still go extremely south depending on who Bai decides to target first. And you really need to prep the whole team to cleanse debuffs

There will be details missing for new expansion
>>
>>3665419
When will a guide covering the new expansion be out? Is that a DLC add on or something?
>>
>>3665421
theres a chinese guide that you can google translate but really all of the new content is straightforward, as long as you aren't completely ignoring the characters and where they tell you to go
theres no new recruitable characters to miss, but there are people who will die if you don't do certain things or have missed some characters
for example the Herbal Saint is needed to prevent a good 4-5 plot deaths
>>
>>3665421
99% of the content in the expansion that is not obligatory is pointed to you with flashing neon signs.
Half of the things you miss depend on what you did in previous content (mostly the content of the previous expansion).
There is not much exploration or weird condition left so just play it.
>>
>>3665203
Tale of Immortal maybe?
>>
>>3665403
That is the best fight, what do you mean?
>>
>>3665725
all 5 of them were completely maxed out with tier 1/2 gear so it was the hardest fight in the game for me
>>
How do you make Yuwen Yi strong? He is so weak! I can only barely get to expert and have to rely on my companions for many fights! What am I doing wrong?
>>
>>3665900
a) Spar with everyone, beat whoever you can. Martial points stack up, they give materials, recipes pills and manuals and even godo equipment at times.
b) Consult whoever you can for cultivation methods. companions included. You can spar to get back your gifts
c) Raise cultivation methods first, raise moves at least till they get secondary effs
d)Pay attention at what the meridians actually boost. Left side is better to invest first
e) Go to all the forests and caves.Clean up the oens that have mobs yo ucan beat and gather materials. Even if you cannot beat the mobs, you can open most of the chests that tend to have manuals and such
f)Although best saved for later, even early on you can see a difference from eating pill and crafting items
>>
>>3665910
>Although best saved for later
Do they scale somehow? I thought it didn't matter when you consume them.
>>

>>
>>3666225
Isn't the next big sale like tomorrow?
>>
>>3666226
I don't think this game has ever been more than like 10-15% on sale, so might as well just buy it if you want it.
>>
>>3666231
I don't think waiting one day is gonna hurt.
>>
>>3666317
It's not on sale today.
>>
>>3665900
He is weak. Now, before someone else comes with the cope. The protag is weak. He has shit base stats. Yes, you can dump pills, spar, learn, etc... But the problem is that you can do the same for everyone else too. The only benefit he has is being able to learn everything which is does not help to make him better.

This is separate from saying that you can not make him the strongest. You can. But you can do the same for everyone else too. Protag base stats are shit. This was already brought up to the devs and even they agreed with it and said they were planning on buffing him.
>>
>>3666676
Yes it is.
>>
>>3666703
Are you butthurt about it
>>
>>3666703
>which is does not help to make him better.
This is exactly what makes him better than everyone else.
Consulting and setting combos nobody else can and maxing out meridians faster than anyone.

Even in a new game plus, where you could waste a fuckton of point to get everything as manuals so companions can approximate some combos and get a fuckton of meridians, he will still have a few unique ones and max them out faster.

Not sure what buffing him would help with. Early game on a fresh extreme run? Seems pointless
>>
>>3666714
No. I beat the game and it was easy. The only real fight is this one >>3665403
>>3666717
Not really needed and also not the point. The point is that he does have worse stats while being the protag and people, including the devs, feel like giving him a boost to demonstrate the "main character" status. Nothing to do with difficulty.
>>
>>3666778
The only dev statement I have seen in the matter is that they deliberately wanted Yuwen at the start to be weak and needing companions while he grows on his journey.
Was it a chinese only post or something?
And again, the point is that beyond raw stats, he will outpace everyone soon because of things only he can do, as a privilege of being the MC already. So buffing base stats for the sake of MC status is still pointless
>>
You should consider the anniversary pack a Fucking buff for the MC! If you give him the anniversary pack buffs, everything Fucking balances out!

>>3642051
This is basically the best Martial Arts RPG that was ever made, isn't it?

Tale of Wuxia
Hero's Adventure
World of Kungfu

Not world of Kung Fu. Incomplete translation and buggy.
Tale of Wuxia is more raising sim and seeing your results occasionally in missions and then climax when the world opens up while Hero's adventure is open world rpg almost sandbox.
Tale of Wuxia has a janky ass translation for an old version of the game (but there is an alpa for a translation that covers the final chinese beta version with all the content), Hero's adventure is also janky and will need guides for puzzles and hsit but you can understand most of it to wander around

Before I buy the game, do you know what is the process for applying the patch proper in Tale of Wuxia? I assume there is a branch different from the 'official' english release and it's applied there?
>>
>>3667892
copy pasting the latest update from discord
https://www.mediafire.com/file/6xbfud0yn3re7ul/Full+English+Translation+0.1.zip/file

Here is a complete English translation containing a combination of everything we've done over the past few days.
Latest version of English texts, modified textures, corrected numbering and extended name and surname for the main character.
Just unzip it to the game folder, nothing more.

It's still not perfect because the full test hasn't been done yet, I know there are still some dialog issues and a few other minor issues, but it's a stable and working version.

That's not even a retort.

A
>real chinese warrior circa 900AD
armed with a sword is not a martial arts fighter, the comparitive to the modern day would be the man with the sword getting shot by a modern day soldiers armed with an AR like this was the scene in Indiana Jones.
>>
>>3671112
It's indeed not a retort.
>Martial arts fighter
Anon, martial arts is about the art of fighting, what does "martial" mean, of course it includes weapons.. MMA is just as much a show as chinks doing "martial art" street performances under Qing rule.
>>
>>3671112
Actually (Chinese) man with sword getting shot by modern soldier was the Boxer Rebellion. Went really badly for the "Real Chinese Warriors".
>>
>>3671116
Anon, those weren't real chinese warriors, they were rebelling cultists and retards that had been under occupation for 400 years. Holy shit you guys are ignorant.
>>
>>3671114
No, the guy doing MMA is more a sports man than a military combatant but if put into a defence situation then someone trained in MMA fighting is going to be able to handle himself alot better than regular people or ones doing performative nonsense that has a long history and think somehow the weight of that history will save them in a fight.
If you start bringing weapons into the discussion then it will simply drift into the fact modern day >>> ancient history because modern weapons and warfare are so much better than that of our forebears it isn't even a comparison.

Your comparison would be better trying to compare them to the Professional Wrestling seen in WWE, which is ACTUALLY for show and alot of the moves require coordination between the two musclebound showmen
>>
>>3671118
>NoTrueScotsman
Are you an actual chinaman who thinks superpowers seen in wuxia or cultivarion media was real at some point? This is a sincere question.
>>
>>3671121
The point is that someone trained to kill with hand to hand combat, yes hand to hand includes weapons, is much more deadly than any of these people who play sports or exercise or posture, whether tai chi or whatever. MMA is a betting sport and highly controlled and has a litany of banned moves because they don't want permanent injuries. No doubt it's good against common people or people trained in other sports, but it's still just a sport, an act, rather than something like Pencak Silat, designed to kill.
>>
>>3671125
Nope, I'm just stating facts. I hate chinks and know the history of martial arts in China is mostly about street performances after the Qing completely cucked them.
>>
What's the best point in the story to start the expansion side content?
>>
>>3671151
To get the absolute most out of it

>get the golden scorpion quest and recruit Gu Sigui as fast as you want/can(you can do it poretty early but will be hard if you are not on NG+)
>Actually travel from the Marsh to the oposite side AFTER mount windfall and beggar sect trouble to do the first part of new southern chronicles
>after that, do main quest proper in the western lands then the badlands questline (normally, that is where you have recruited every possible companion)
>second part of southern chronicles now replaces the old version of the main quest in Wuxian territorry
>Finishing it also leads you by default to the content of the last expansion

This assumes you recruit every companion possible(a few of them are plot critical to get the best outcomes). I'm not sure who can be skipped if at all to access the latest expansion.

If you want to do the old vanilla version of the last couple acts, never do the golden scorpion quests
>>
>>3671151
>>3671162
The optimal time to start is when you reach the point in the main story where you get the quest to become a martial disciple (don't complete it until you're done with the quest chain)
Make sure you've recruited as many companions as you can by then, a lot of them are important to get the best ending
>>
>>3671162
>>3671170
Thank you for the quick reply. I am at the beggar sect section right now and coincidentally ran into the scorpion questline, hence why I asked. I'll hold off on pursuing it further until a bit later for now then.
>>
>>3671162
>>get the golden scorpion quest and recruit Gu Sigui as fast as you want/can(you can do it poretty early but will be hard if you are not on NG+)
This is wrong actually, you want to delay going to Pili School as long as possible because if you do it right away you miss events and triggers caused by having party members you don't get until later like Wei.
>>
>>3671228
Read carefully.
>recruit gu Sigui
This can be done extremely early in a new game plus (the filter is the scorpion battle and the battle in the forest)
>>Actually travel from the Marsh to the opposite side AFTER mount windfall and beggar sect trouble to do the first part of new southern chronicles
So you go to Pili school(cross to the other side part) after you get Leng, Yaunxing and Weighuan.

An extra cheese this method enables is you can have Sigui self reflect and create tons of martial point manuals for you since you never need to develop him
>>
This game is kind of Fucked up. The MC is supposed to be this moral Martial Artist doing good, but he is running constantly beating the crap out of people like it's his Fucking job! He literally beats people up and takes their shit. Then like a cruel game of smear the queer back in the day, he forces them to accept gifts so he can again beat the everloving shit out of them and take them back! You will even often see the NPS pleading and begging for mercy saying the MC is too strong, no more! He's wandering into these backwater villages and using Martial Arts moves and techniques on them that they have never in their life seen and will likely never see again.
>>

>literally beating up kids and stealing their candy

See, that's a plus. He's literally giving them a chance to see the pinnacle of martial arts. They couldn't have asked for a better gift. Inspired by him, drives of kids in the future will grow in the heroic martial art culture aiming to bring about a new golden age through the power of friendship and physical combat.
>>
>>3671116
Guys with guns are also martial artists though.
Martial arts simply means "means of war (Mars)". It doesn't mean punching.
>>

There is no real time limit for that personal quest.
That is why you make sure to inherit a couple manuals like Yoga sutra and Golden Cocoon.
Raising her meridians (with oills or upgrading cultivation methods, feed her manuals for martial points) can make a huge difference (like 15% chance of acting again, boosting your own heals, chance of erasing his WT bar with a critical) can all make a huge difference (and her having 1000 Qi gathering of course).
I imagine she already has the best equipment possible, but see if you can craft something better already since many people only botehr when they have tier III or better recipes

Yeah, I don't think it's doable atm (before becoming senior disciple), I think I got every available cultivation manual up to this point and that's not enough meridians to get her the neccessary perks. Will see how long I can ignore this quest for, probably until main quest gets me to the inn at Gusu lol.
On the flipside the green girl fight with Quingmu sect leader was laughably easy, I just needed to hand her the Whale Slayer and got it first try, I can only imagine if I picked saber legacy this fight would be a no brainer as well.
>>
Why is the Beggar's Sect head so weak? You get 1k martial points with every spar, and I'm beating his ass like it's my job!
>>
>>3676409
Cause the real head quit and they chased the super talented guy away
>>
No! We can't have the thread for the best RPG in the last couple of years fall off!
>>
>>3679191
which thread?
>>
>>3679191
It will be 2 months soon. We had some discussions, update was good. Let it go

theres only so much you can discuss with a single player game, even a good one

Question regarding the final fight:

If you hella level up Mowen with Cultivations and Meridians and moves, does it make him stronger in the last fight? Or are his stats independent of what you do with Mowen when he is a companion?
>>
>>3679487
100% independent
>>

>>3645116
Put hours and hours into this game. The combat is either kill the enemy in one shot or get killed in one shot. Nothing in between. I love the world and characters but the combat is very dull. Also the quests are very repetitive.
>>
Hepcats! This game is Fucking on sale on Steam now!

GO! GO! GO!
>>
>>3679685
pirate the clean steam files and use goldberg emu
every game is free
>>
>>3679663
Before doing NG+ runs , I had to cheat quite a few battles above my weight by doing essentially stunlocks. Also, doing splash damage for reflect enemies. But due to open world nature with only world map icon enemies scaling, you can essentially avoid any hard fight after the first couple hours till the endgame
>>
Man there is no other Martial Arts RPG or CRPG that is even close to this.

Are there anything in like early access or development coming down the pike, or maybe not translated?
>>
>>3682729
I have lots of upcoming chinkrpgs but most of them don't have a release date and this is probably the closest
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2331340/Tales_of_Three_Kingdoms_The_Mortal_World/
>>
So why is everyone pissed with year 3 of the Chinksona? Sure it was rushed, but it wasn't that bad.
Also, any recs for 3d games?
>>
>>3684714
I assume you mean path of wuxia?
It's generally rushed conclusion, not dealing with half of the expected villains and rivalries established, too much shit happening offscreen and arcane requiremenst to get some events/achievements.
Plus, support for the game dropped like a hot potato due to issues and their later games were kinda ass
>>
>>3684721
Yeah, I can see that, shame about dropped support, the game could really use a lot more of it. I did enjoy it quite a bit though, even parts of the third year. The claw guy conclusion was really good on pacifist path.
>later games were kinda ass
Which ones? I'll take it as a negative rec
>>
>>3684738
古龙风云录..
While it technically has higher production values and solid mechanics, the world, plot, questlines and characters are kinda bland apparently
As in, a downgrade from 河洛群俠傳 (Ho Tu Lo Shu )
>>
i don't think early access will ever work for the chinese because they don't take any real pride in their work, they work to get paid. so paying them upfront is counterproductive, they are always going to get lazy.
>>
>>3684790
Yeah, this game with the level of post release support it got is more of an exception, it feels like
>>
I like hero's adventure mc more than wandering sword's
>>
I actually bought this game after pirating it I liked it that much. Still have it on my seedbox though for everyone who doesn't want to spend money.
>>
>>3642051
It's been 2 months. Was the update any good?
>>
>>3685488
Yes, very much so. It's the best part of the game now.
>>
>>3685488
Yes! The Devs really Fucking love their fans! I bought the Mount pack just to give them additional support because we got 2 really Based updates out of this game.
>>
>>3687869
Dial it back, shill.
>>
>>3685488
It's good but the new hard difficulty is utterly retarded at various points, feels like they didn't playtest it at all.
>>
>>3647255
The true gameplay is cultivating patiently until you no diff the game. If you just act like a bandit you will always be a bum

Sword is WAY overpowered in this Fucking game! Can we get a nerf please?

Jian is the weapon of a true gentleman. Fuck you.
>>
>>3684714
Rushed content to wrap things up, while the whole year content is great but they add lots of character without proper introduction like blind dude with go pieces, the ending is beautiful if you decide to redeem the boss then again i'm not yet playing their last update that add new endings
>>
>>3689168
Technically, fist has the best stunlock in the game to trivialize encounters for the last 3d.
And if we consider legacies, staff/spear and Bai's kit are the most broken.
Honestly, the only weapon that needed a bit more love early on and a legacy are hidden weapons/projectiles
>>
>>3689188
There was an update? When?
>>
>>3689394
Not sure what he is talking about, since last bugfix was 2 years go exactly
>>
What if everyone's favorite Fist build?
>>
>>3689528
Solo Arts I remember being extremely good:
>thunderous palm strike.
Chance for Qi Deprivation with the right meridians means chance for stunlock
>pure yang finger
Good range, chance for Qi deprivation AND healing. Let me win duels far above my weight early
>Tongbeiquan
Gives 6% dodge just by having it when entering combat
>Great Vajrapani Fist
Decent damage and gives you barriers. Has a unique move variant too
>Proud Dragon Repents
One of my favorite unique. Range, power, pushback and extra damage debuff.

I think Thousand hand plam strike is the one that increases evasion a lot (by 20%)

As far as combos with Cultivation methods go:
>Frosty Palm
Very good stun you can trigger frequently with cultivation method
>Tai Chi
You can deal passively 2k+ damage on people with reflects from cultivation, and Taiji stacks they use debuff enemeis and increase your damage. A good approach for solo boss encounters.
>condor moves
If you run Condor in your party and you give her fists instead of hidden weapons, using both together for stacking bleeds and getting the benefits is good. Some enemies clear debuffs a lot and I am not that big a fan of their cultivation method but something to consider.

If you unlock legacies, Bai Weiyi's kit is bonkers

In my last legendary run, I mostly threw nine Yang fingers early on, then a Tai Chi focused build with Proud Dragon Repents for massive AoE.

I have seen people swear on poison builds, but not a fan

completed a playthrough and it plays like the 2nd half of tale of wuxia where your dropped into an open world and it's up to you climb your power level to the top, feels like a single player MMO where overpowered npcs are freely able to be challenged anytime and like wandering sword main way of raising stats is collecting internal skills and you make lifelong friend with npcs by beatiing them up
>here the 1 guy on youtube that makes guides for it

I'm really hoping if they do make the supposed expansion about he Xuanhuo cult that they had a bunch of new hidden weapon techniques. Trying to plan a build around it tough since you're so limited comparatively.
