I started Ys VIII as my first Falcom game. I’m 10 hours in and I hope their other games are this good. This has really smooth, snappy controls that make it fun to just move around. And the world design is better than it seems at first. I saw those little diamond gate loading barriers characteristic of handheld games and didn’t have high expectations. But the game is surprisingly big and open without being Xenoblade levels of bloated in map size. And Laxia is a cute tsundere.
