Yeah that's a brutal one. Not much to say other than stay on default, healing when you can, attacking after they brave, standard stuff. But I beat that in a low level hard mode playthrough before having to grind at all.

I purchased a 3DS simply after seeing this image.
Turns out the game is my favorite JRPG of all time, dethroning even the classic FF games, which it is a spiritual sequel to (well it is a spiritual sequel to FF Gaiden, but it doesn't have the annoying gimmicks of that one and feels more like a classic game).

Those 9999 damage attacks made me real happy when in Bravely Second they let you have more than 9999 HP.

Not much more but even 10,000 HP is enough to stop you from getting 1 shot.

I liked this games a lot when Younger. Nowadays I still love It, love the art design, the Jobs, the characters etc.
But I really really wish Dungeons were better in this series. God they are time wasters...
Empty corridors with a single linear path to follow and a few detours for treasures chests
>>
>>3648881
All of their games are like that for some reason. I've been playing octopath and it's somehow worse, at least bravely default has the occasional puzzle or hazard.
Octopaths are just copy pasted hallways with treasure chests hidden in the same predictable spots.
It's weird that they seem to put a lot of effort and passion into other areas of these games but the dungeon design is worse than something from the nes era.

And they put a lot of effort into the aesthetics of the Dungeons too.
Ive Said this before in here and in other boards too, big jrpgs could really use inspiration from poder games that emphasized Dungeon crawling.
They could look for inspiration in games like Wizardry and Might and Magic, but also Lufia II that has zelda-like Dungeon design and even Zelda 1
In fact, I think Zelda 1 Dungeon design would be great as inspiration for these combat oriented jrpgs. They have little puzzles, hidden walls, passegways, in fact, the Dungeon istelf is a positional puzzle to be solved.
Its really boring to get into these Dungeon that frankly are just gautlets before that dont even matter at all, because you can just heal and buy more items before you fight them.
And I really like the route-style overworld that reminds me a lot of pokémon. Ironically though, even older pokémon games had better Dungeons in the form of caves and hideouts.

The villains I'm this game we're great. They do some insanely evil shit at times, it made beating their asses super satisfying.
>>
>>3648881
On one hand, yes, the dungeons are simplistic. On the other hand, I feel that they do a good job of testing your resources. I am always thinking of when I need to burn ethers, and they aren't cheap in this game. So the dungeons are well designed in that sense.
I feel they thought they had to be bite sized because of the portable format, though that isn't really true because you can put the 3DS to sleep at any time and resume later.

You are right, though I dont feel like they burn resources as much they could, I agree that they at least demand that you prepare well in items before tackling them. I frankly just wish they were more labyrintine and made you get lost more often.
>>
>>3648881
I think harder/longer dungeons would go well with making people use the more conservative/defense abilities and actually worry about resources. Right now BD/OT's weakness no matter what game you are talking about is that encounters are singular experiences and you are free to recover/reconfigure as freely as you feel like after it's over. The closest they ever got was in the original Dimension's Hasp (10 floors, no encounter toggle), which was JP only.

Try Wild ARMS if you haven't. The first three (plus remake of the first game) are more or less Zelda with rpg turn based battles.

Never played It, but I heard good things of its Dungeons.
I must point that whenever I talk about zelda1-style Dungeons Im not talking exclusively about the puzzles, but more about How they demand that you give attention to knowing where you are in It and discovering by yourself new paths around the map. Breaking walls, founding passageways in rooms to reach other places in the Dungeons, key-hunting etc. This is what is really interesting to me in Zelda 1 Dungeons and what I think Dungeon crawlers and RPGs in general should try to replicate.
Ill give wild arms a try, thanks!!

He really did some great art with bravely, I dont think his other works even compare. Costume design in bravely default and Second is really good and much less polluted than what he has done for ffxiv, for example.
What I like most about bravely however is enemy design. Its really really good, Ive played many games but for some reason I always look back to bravely default and second for comparison

Lost all my 3ds data, or maybe its there somewhere in one of my sd cards.
I dont remember beating bd1 but i do remember getting to the loops maybe 2 or 3.
I have a general idea of what happens in the ending.
Can i just go on and play bds without having "technically" finished it?
>>
>>3652638
Of course
>>
>>3652638
I honestly enjoy bd2 more. Overworld in better developed and there is somewhat better exploration. So please do play It.

It doesn't import data so it doesn't matter. It is a direct sequel so that's the main reason to play 1 first.
>>3652781
He's talking about Second. I like some things about it more. The cast is better. Ditching the two most annoying characters and improving Tiz as a character. Combat system is more interesting, especially for casters (though you are eating even more ethers than ever) The climax and conclusion to the story is also amazing. Can't beat the plot twist and "false" final boss encounter of BD1 though.

Anyone else autistically seething that they only have 2 of the 4 -aja spells on their save file, even though they are garbage and you won't ever cast them anyway.

>He's talking about Second.
Yeah, I know, It was a mistake. I was speaking about Second.
And I agree. I also really like Second worlbuilding. In Very well done in my opinion, and many recent games cant reach similar levels of care and detail.
>>
Any hope for another bravely game?
>>
>>3652901
Probably. The last one sold well. Hopefully they learn from some of their mistakes regarding changing the battle system, though.
>>
>>3652901
I think there is.
Bravely default 2 wasnt great, but sold well and they recognize its faults enough.
Also its well know that team asano wants to eventually go back to bravely third and, well, bravely second left with a good epilogue for a sequel.
Hopefully well get an announcement soon enough
>>
>>3652987
I sure hope they don't make another sequel and instead go with a new cast again. Second was already an unnecessary sequel that somehow worked out.
>>
>>3653014
But I do think bravely second deserver a sequel albeit with a New cast.
The world of luxendarc is pretty cool, and such a huge mal can be much better fleshed out. More cities, more Dungeons, better exploration, New Jobs etc
>>
>>3652987
In my opinion BD2 wasn't good compared to 1 or Second, but compared to most JRPGs it was great.
They did honestly mess up with the combat system. Slow jobs are useless and enemy counters are so strong that doing absolutely nothing is often the play (and I do mean nothing actions, sometimes they counter default).

>>

>but compared to most JRPGs it was great.
I agree, but damn do I wish It was so much better...
As I said in another reply, Dungeons could have been better, but also the counter abundance needs to Go and side based initiative needs to come back too. These two last points made so many builds much worse than they should have been.
Also the whole plot felt unfinished, the ending lacked the same impacto It had in the previous two games. I also hope in a Future games or sequel we are given more non-linearity, exploration is an extremely important part of RPGs
>>
Is Meteor Rain Mimic the strongest strat in Second or is there a way to out-damage it?
>>
>>3652836
>cant reach similar levels of care and detail.
I was really mad BD2 didn't have BS's journal/bestiary style. All that lore/character fluff.
