>A follow-up to the legendary Disco Elysium might have been ready to play within the next year—ZA/UM's devs loved it, management canceled it and laid off the team: 'For a while it seemed like miracles were possible, and with them redemption'

ZA/UM is amazing in that its probably the only case where both the management AND the devs absolutely shat the bed with everything possible. From Azeri drug money, to corpo greed, to auteur drama, to general cacophany that happens when you work with too many cooks in one kitchen.

I enjoyed the game and would've given the devs the benefit of the doubt that they could've pulled off a great sequel. However, the little bit I heard of what it was going to be sounded incredibly unappealing. You were supposedly going to play a pregnant woman and the fetus would talk to you as the game's narrator.

It’s pretty successful for a point and click adventure game, I’ll give it that
>>
>>3648079
>You were supposedly going to play a pregnant woman

You forgot to add whom the woman was supposed to be. Kurvitz slipped up in one interview.

It was supposed to be Harry's ex, pregnant with her new husband's child.
Yes, the same cold-hearted bitch that aborted her daughter.

I'm glad it fell apart.
>>
I'm always confused about these DE articles ignoring that Kurvitz is the only thing that matters; art direction was great but without him splinters are doomed to fail. We're going to get a bunch of Twin Peaks S2 games that will feel like they were written by AI. Enjoy the age of Breadtube Elysiums.
>>
>>3648334
>It was supposed to be Harry's ex
Wait, now I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of regret that this game will never materialize. Originally I thought it would have nothing to do with the events of the first game.
>Yes, the same cold-hearted bitch
Abort yourself immediately you communard piece of trash. Dora was the only purely innocent and beautiful character in the game's entire roster. She was the ray of light whose presence always lifted you back to your feet, each time the crushing weight of your failure in holding onto her became too much to bear.
>>
>>3648355
FYI it's not a real character, it's a story
>>
>>3648355
>Dora was the only purely innocent and beautiful character in the game's entire roster.

You're either baiting, or a brainless moron who understood nothing of what was said in the game? Even one of Harry's co-workers calls her, literally, a cold-hearted bitch. Absolutely no one ever mentioning her in any capacity - except Harry - says anything good about her.

By the by, do you know WHY Harry is in such a state of delusion that she might come back? Because it happened once before - it's stated twice in the game, by different sources, that she left him once before, and then came back begging for Harry to take her in.

I think the real problem with Commies here is that they are genuinely addicted to arguing with each other. Proto-commies during the French revolution chopped off each other's heads off for being either too radical or not radical enough. Commies during the Paris Commune (1871) split up into 100 different factions and got easily beaten. Spanish Civil War Commies fought each other more than the actual Right-Wing enemies.

ZA/UM however is basically a rerun of the Soviet Union. Basically every Commie is arguing because they all want to be in charge. Meanwhile Stalin/Kompus wiggles himself into a position of power that allows him to slowly purge the party/company and fill it with their own people, basically apolitical sycophants who only care about power/money and do as they're told.

Difference being Stalin found people who could replace all the ones that were purged while Kompus ended up with nothing besides the IP. Of course the purged ZA/UM writers/devs did splinter in like 5 different studios.

There's no need to promote Communism with a video game nowadays, countless kids are being groomed into it on Discords everywhere. This is more of a lamentation about communism, it's basically a pity party, which commies love.

The game itself isn't revolutionary. It is mostly carried by its aesthetics. It looking a decent product and being praised to high heaven is to make Communism look more popular than it actually is.
>This is more of a lamentation about communism, it's basically a pity party, which commies love.
True but it is presented as the only one trying to fix the world.

And? Vaush is a fat retard. Besides, Moralism is also Communism and it is the "Centrist" option. The alignment system is actually this:
>Communism
Tankie (Materialism)
>Ultraliberalism
Capitalism (Materialism)
>Moralism
Reactionary by Marxist definition (Materialism)
>In Marxist terminology, reactionary is a pejorative adjective denoting people whose ideas might appear to be socialist but, in their opinion, contain elements of feudalism, capitalism, nationalism, fascism, or other characteristics of the ruling class, including usage between conflicting factions of Marxist movements.

i dont want to make another thread for this but i believe the Insulindian Phasmid is an adaptation of the Lord Howe Stick Insect. The largest phasmid species had been living in abundance on an island off the coast of the Australian mainland, to then be wiped off the face of the island by a supply ship carrying a fuckton of european black rats.
These rats had been thought to send the phasmid to extinction, in 1920. Nearly a century later, in 2001, a miracle occurs, with Australian researchers sailing to this ominous rocky outcrop 23 km off the island, and discovered 24 of these phasmids living in an isolated area under a single endemic shrub.

>the same cold-hearted bitch that aborted her daughter
I will never understand the mind of this faggot for writing such a bizarre, inauthentic incel plot point. She did the right thing, why have Harry's child if she's leaving him?
The repercussions of it on Harry make no sense. It wasn't a late term abortion. She didn't trick Harry or torment him. She just said "You're poor, I don't love you, I'm leaving."
This kind of thing happens to men every day and they get over it. It's not a believable catalyst for this alcoholic amnesiac sad clown schlock.
>>
>>3651479
It's easier to understand if you know an alcoholic in real life, they hold onto any bit of pain in order to justify the next drink. It's all about the booze and looking for an excuse for that next drink.

>Brothers are like arms
>Wives are like shirts
So i should let all my bros fuck my wife?
You put your arms into the shirt.
>>
>>3651492
no, it's that if you lose a shirt, you can get a new one easily. if you lose an arm, they don't grow back. love is fleeting, but friendship, brotherhood, can be for life.
>>
>>3648334
Oh.
If thats what the sequel was going to be then maybe its better that it never got to be made.

I inadvertently turned my Harry into a gigachad. I used no cheats whatsoever.
>4/1/1/6 stats with Inland Empire as signature skill
>get Actual Art Degree thought and internalize it by rereading the based HJELMDALLERMANN book
>get Jamais Vu thought
>acquire massive amounts of skill points
>for money just talk to Lena, get her quiz right and sell the green ape pin to Roy in the pawn shop, now repeat that as much as you want (doable on Day 1 only)
>don't have Endurance talk to you about fascism or Revacholian Nationhood thought yet, this is very important, reach the point where you can grab the borscht from the polak chef, get Electrochemistry to 7, and get Goracy's Brew with 5 uses, use it 4 times to get permanent +4 FYS (this will absolutely not work if you have talked to Endurance and opted into fascism), keep 1 for later
>obtain and internalize Revacholian Nationhood only after using the Borscht 4 times, with Goracy's Brew and the other 3 alcohol types you will be able to become gigachad for an additional +8 FYS boost which you get to keep permanently when you forget Revacholian Nationhood
>reach level 4 for Inland Empire and Suggestion, get the -1 logic cap from the pajeet scammer to reduce your logic from 4 to 3, talk to the commie spic and get Boiadero, internalize it, smoke a cigarette for +2 INT, immediately forget that skill to keep that boost forever
>obtain and internalize Cop of the Apocalpyse, talk to Roy and get the Pyrrho drug from him, take it and forget Cop of Apocalypse to keep the +2 PSY boost
>obtain and internalize Long Way Home, get Speed from Cuno's home, take the speed and forget Long Way Home to keep the +1 PSY boost
>>
>>3651592
hey maybe ill stick to your build since i wanter do play inland empire artist for my second run. was always broke ass nigger last tim ei played tho
>>
>>3651927
Running back and forth for 1.35$ felt rather silly. However, I did not take any bribes or beg anyone for money.
I ran into an issue where I couldn't increase the amount of uses for Goracy's Brew despite having 7 Electrochemistry. It worked on my cheated trial run so I don't know what bugged it out. It's still OP as fuck though as you will end up with +10 FYS.
Triggering Boiadeiro is also tricky as you will need to make sure to have low Logic and 4 Inland Empire/Suggestion and follow the correct dialogue path talking to Manana.
I started with MOT at 6 but lower values in favor other stats should work, too. There doesn't seem to be a way to push MOT as well as the other stats.
It feels cool to play though. You start out weak as fuck with no empathy but have good cognition and superhuman senses. The volition and endurance checks are going to be painful at the start.
Apparently you can also have the talking tie if you find a way to get IE to 4 before talking to Garte and grabbing the tie but I haven't tried that and don't want to restart again.
On day 3 you can get Wompty-Dompty for even more exp and money. The minmax guides I've seen all suggest to fast forward to that point for the most optimal exp gain but with the drug abuse that's not really necessary. There is also a glitch for infinite exp but I didn't like that.
Of course, at the end of the day you should just play naturally. I just wanted to push boundaries.

Maybe in a very loose sense. They're a bunch of people with mob rule in the mind.
