I'm a longtime Elona veteran and I think juere executioner looks like winner. Juere gets more gains from food which is the main source of stat gains, executioner doesn't die until they run out of both HP and MP. Yerles has bonuses to learning skills and show be another strong race. Nefu gets a big fat +25 to speed, the most important stat and better spell gains. The speed advantage is diminished if you wear something on your waist slot though.

This heavily game dependent. A lot of early access games are quite honestly not finished products. I dare say MOST of them are like that. There's no shame in that, I've bought a ton of EA games before (they were all trad roguelikes, I implicitly trust traditional roguelike devs more than other game devs for no reason) and most, if not all, of them have had enough content to be considered full games. Some of them more content than actual full games, but that doesn't change the fact that EA is often incomplete. Unfinished quests, large chunks of content missing, the fact you're essentially a playtester and will likely drown in bugs.

I sincerely doubt the people who played Baldur's Gate 3 back in 2020 would say that the game then was "not a lesser version" of the full game released in 2023.

I've been playing this game blind for a while now, but recently I got a generator from some area with a bunch of altars and it has changed the game for me entirely. Using electricity in my home is great, especially for the fridges I've managed to acquire, but there's a big issue. The generator broke and now I have like no power for my fridges and lights. The tutorial is a partly a series of crafting quests and using crafting tables to make to make crafting tables to make crafting tables. Feels very different to Elona. I'm sure you can choose not to engage, but it's obviously a development priority, along with forced homestead. The mouse focus is a much bigger problem to me though, movement controls and menuing is just awkward compared to using the keyboard in Elona.

Its intimidating cause there are so many fucking different craft stations but honestly its a easier game then Elona cause can craft op bandages from spider silk that heal insane amount. Gourmet 2 is a big deal for adding seasonings, which translates to a big boost in stat and potential gains with your own cooking

So I tried this gane out without having played the previous one, I didn't expect it to be so survival crafting focused. I thought those elements would kind of be secondary to the roguelike rpg aspect.
But man from the start I'm already so low on basic resources, constantly starving, making a grass house of just 4 tiles to complete the quest. And then I accidentally gifted my cat my workbench and got too annoyed to continue.

The tutorial is such ass honestly. Sleeping is a waste of time until you get a good bed and some perks. There's no penalty for dying in the first 90 days and it also resets your hunger, so just kill yourself with making 50 bandages at once and digging the same soil tile over and over, that's how grinding works here. I made a wooden sword but I accidentally threw it at a training dummy and it evaporated, is there some other way to get weapons so I can start progressing through the puppy cave? I tried going in with what I had but the monsters evaporated me and my pet.

i just dipped in the first level of a few dungeons and grabbed what i could to sell/use, then hit up a town or two to fill in with pv oriented gear. once i did that, started hitting up the shops for good food to boost stats and potentials, then did platinum coin grind with quest boards to fill in skills and grabbed a mount.

It doesn't. Dice are determined purely by martial arts level, and you don't get multiple attacks unless you're dual wielding claws or gloves in each hand slot.

That won't change at any point, by design claws and gloves halve your martial arts dice in exchange for their hit/damage/penetration and PV/DV modifiers, as well as the ability to two hand or dual wield. Off the top of my head two handing a claw should be stronger than barehand immediately, dual wield might need 3 or 4 claws to get ahead and suffers from accuracy issues.

Claws lower hit and gloves lower damage, it's usually gains or minor losses outside of that. Granted, I don't think there's ever a reason to pick gloves. Just stack shields if you aren't all in on damage.

I picked it up after getting pretty excited by the posts I'd seen over the last few weeks. The translation is unfortunately distractingly poor and the game is somewhat annoying to control. There are some random hard coded keys too which is always a cardinal sin. Might revisit in a few years, on paper it's everything I want in a game.

I don't think needing the mouse will ever change. There's 2 mods now for changing zoom level with hotkey, what else can't be rebinded? Shift/ctrl clicking inventory items I guess? Have to get used to them, as they are essential, remember that shift sends items to the last bag your cursor hovered over.
You also need a mod to go to up/down stares, it's the same that does autoexplore. I turned off everything in it besides exploring and just hover over targets with mouse and press autocombat hotkey if there's nothing dangerous nearby.

Elona had near perfect controls, it's a pity Elin's are so poor.

Having an option to stop moving when spotting an enemy that doesn't do anything at all is a bold choice.
