Let's start a boxing gym! I thought it'd be fun to try running a gym together
>what is this?
A Web Boxing League thread! It's a simulation game where we make fighters and try to get them to rise through the ranks against other player owned fighters.
>what should I do?
You can either give me a specific build or a general concept (counter puncher/glasscannon) or anime character (Joe Yabuki) to base a boxer on and I'll integrate them into the game.
>how many characters are allowed in?
There are 17 weight classes so you can submit as many or as little as you want, but if you lose three times in a row, we'll hold a vote and consider dropping the fighter.
>what's our gym's name?
For now, Clover Club, but if another name gets traction it will be changed.
>what if I want to go full minmax autism?
https://www.vivi.com/
Just go to the official website and learn the mechanics yourself. If you're good at math, you should be a huge asset. That said, let's begin. Character sheet next post.
>>
you ain't getting my data, fucker
>>

Nor would I want it, my friend.

Anyway, here's the character creation page. Gimme a name and a build you want. If you want to see how a specific archetype functions, you can ask me and I'll post it here for you or you could go on the website and check for yourself.

Oh, and I forgot to mention it in the OP, but the goal would be to get at least one of our fighters to become world champion of their weight division, so we have a long road ahead. Here's an explanation of each stat.
>Strength
The fighter's ability to inflict damage on his opponent. A fighter with the twice the strength inflicts twice the damage.
>KO Punch
The fighter's ability to inflict damage on his opponent. A fighter with the twice the strength inflicts twice the damage.
>Speed
The ability to land punches. This is the most important ability for scoring points and winning a round. It also helps inflict damage -- a fighter with twice the speed inflicts about 40% more damage.
>Agility
The ability to avoid punches. This is the most important ability in avoiding damage -- a fighter with twice the agility will incur half the damage. Agility also helps win rounds, but not as much as speed.
>Conditioning
Determines the number of endurance points a fighter has. A fighter with conditioning=9 has 90 endurance points, conditioning=10 has 100 endurance points, etc. Conditioning also affects how aggressive a fighter can be before suffering fatigue, and has some effect on making weight.
>Chin
Controls how much stun damage a fighter can take in a round before being stunned, knocked down, or knocked out. Also determines how much endurance damage a fighter can take in a single bout before accumulating injury points.

I don't know enough to partake in this or gaining weight but this sounds pretty fun anon, I'm sorry it's not working out
>>

>Make Sissy
fucking groomers man. get a life.
>>
>>3653045
...a sissy is a low strength boxer who relies on points. Another way of saying wuss, as is extremely common knowledge to any American. You need to sort out your brain rot.
>>3653041
No worries, all I need is at least one person to take an interest and submit an idea so we can get the ball rolling. Fights happen on a weekly basis so it'll be fun to show off the results to the thread in real time. I was also considering adding in narration and linking to music to set the mood.

It'd be nice to have something going, I wish I was creative enough to come up with fun builds or strange autistic minmax retards to liven up the crew.
>was really infuriated with the one guy in Ippo who was getting wins by points
>turns out there's a name for these people
I didn't know this but
>>
>>3652927
Tanji Torio, because my only experience with boxing has been Ippo and a bit of Ashita no Joe so I'm used to imagining it as a solely jap-based sport.
Anyway, the idea I had in mind was a lightweight way more suited to being a counterpuncher or more technical boxer who still wants to be a flashy unga retard. In hindsight I don't know if the 'classes' on the right are an actual choice or just a way to auto-gen stats or if the way a boxer fights is based ON their stats in the first place, in which case this idea isn't going to work out at all, but oh well, you can discard this if that's unworkable as a result.
>>
>>3653071
ok groomer
>>
>>3653133
No, that's actually super workable. Our fighters have stats but we're responsible for developing fight plans which impacts how they actually react during combat. Not sure how good he'll be at winning buuuut, it's all for fun at the end of the day. Anyhow, here's Tanji in all his glory. I'll be experimenting in with fight plans to see if we can get him some wins but I'm a rookie manager myself so no promises. I'll post more details on his main goal and first match once I get the email. It's a weekly thing, so this thread will be fairly slow unless we get a whole lot of fighters. And the "classes" are just auto genning stats.

>>3653100
S'all good. Uhh, I don't think sissy is proper terminology so much as a derogatory term in-game since people get pissed at those kinds of fighters.

>since people get pissed at those kinds of fighters.
Good!!!
What about something like our good friend Warsman
>relatively decent in both power and technique (bear claws got through Buffaloman's horn, Palo Special and getting trained by Robin)
>either poor health or some autistic backstory makes him get extremely worse or outright clonk out after a certain amount of time (Warsman overheats if he goes over 30min in a match)
Maybe this balances out, since my vague understanding is that people generally specialize between power and technique, so he'd be above-avg at both but have immense drawbacks over time to balance it out
>>3653133
>I'm used to imagining it as a solely jap-based sport.
Did you know that "boxing" in the west generally gives a connotation relating to either moving or shipping boxes, or Boxing Day in Commonwealth countries?
>>
>>3653158
Sure thing, that's an archetype in the game. What name and weight class do you want? Tanji has Bantam already so you can have anything but that.
>>
Reporting in. Tanji's test runs have been fairly successful! I equipped him with one of the default plans which fit the anon's description of him and made him spar against several different styles. The result was usually this
>Torio drops his guard and pounds away! Partner falls into a clinch. He won't let go! The referee is warning him but he won't let go! That's it, the fight is stopped!! The Referee stops the fight!
>Tanji Torio wins by a Knock Out!!
or
>Torio is hammering relentlessly! Partner's manager throws in the towel! The Referee stops the fight!
>Tanji Torio wins by a Knock Out!!
Essentially, the only weakness he has is that he's potentially vulnerable to fighters who aim for KOs as soon as possible. I'll be experimenting to see if I can make a strategy to cover that weakness up.

Anyway, the one he's aiming for the Bantam World Championship surprisingly isn't Mexican. It's an Italian from the Smoke and Fly Gym
>Ludwig van Pancrazio
>Spotless 19-0-0 Record. The only current world champ with no losses.
>$75,258,764 career earnings
Let's see if we can snatch the belt off his hands or if Tanji'll get punch drunk before that happens...
>>
>>3653160
Maybe featherweight is fine so he can still get outmassed by larger friends that join later
And let's go with uhhh Chloe Belmond
>>
>>3653183
Okay, I fucked up and initially put him in wrong region so you get Chloe Belmondt instead. Unfortunately the build necessitated that he have a lot of strength meaning it's unavoidable that he's in a higher weight class so to compensate he's also a giga chadlet. That way they'll at least certainly be people bigger than him... vertically. Fucks anyone who doesn't have a decent chin and can OHKO them but he's only really good in the early rounds
>>
>>3653204
>just imagining tiny baby Warsman made of lead but 2 feet tall, fighting against Terry Funk or Hulk Hogan
This isn't what I wanted but this is also endearing, thank you, I've gained a deeper understanding of the boxing world and how its gods operate.
>>
Alright muchachos, we've got our first match lined up against some punk named Pidhi Sames.
>Ranked #61 in the rookie light heavyweight division
>Albanian
>8 inch height difference from Chloe at six feet tall
Can our midget vanquish this giant? Find out this Friday!

Without skipping a beat, he STAGGERS Sames with a wild haymaker! Is this fight gonna be over as soon as it begins?!

...but Belmondt is on the counter attack! He retaliates with a clean hook and slips a devastating body blow! He wastes no time, ladies and gentlemen, and hits with a DEADLY combination. One powerful right straight to the jaw immediately followed by a left uppercut that makes Sames fall like a rag doll!

Without a single second's delay, Sames retaliates with a jab to the temple and immediately follows up with a mighty cross! Belmondt doesn't even have a single moment's rest before he's struck down by a giant haymaker!

The initial burst of power from the initial exchanges has left both men ragged! Belmondt's doing his best to finish the job but keeps missing and missing and missing! He tries poking his opponent's eye out but Sames doesn't fall for it and covers it up! This might be the first tragic failure of Belmondt's ignoble first match!

...or it would be he hadn't just landed an ATOMIC RIGHT STRAIGHT TO SAMES' FACE, DROPPING HIM STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND

Chloe Belmondt seems to need immediate medical assistance from the blows he took in that match! But a victory is a victory and he claims his rightful spot as number 59 of the rookie light heavyweight division!

Tune in next time to see if Tanji Torio will finally have a match scheduled!

Their faces detach

Anyway, I've remade Tanji Torio into Torio Tanji since he wasn't getting any fights. He's now a featherweight with high speed and agility who switches from fighting elegantly to fighting like a Chloe Belmondt style beast who throws powerful punches to get KOs at the risk of his own body. Kind of an Alfredo Gonzales sort. We'll see what becomes of his career soon

This just in--Chloe Belmondt has his next match scheduled! A yet unproved talent from an equally unproven boxing gym. Aiden Juliano! If the Warsman manages another victory he'll gain a whopping two ability points to round out his weaknesses. Can Belmondt form a winning streak? Tune in!
