Why was this game so much easier than the first? Were the devs afraid that retarded journalists would complain about grind and write a bad review?
>>3655556>Were the devs afraid that retarded journalists would complain about grind and write a bad review?probably./thread
you'll also see people go from whining about grind in the first game to saying that the second game fixed all of its problems
i thought the later chapters were quite difficult, call me a casual all you want, e.g. father instagibbing party members left and right, outhealing the lava monster dps
>>3655579father only instagibs below 50% hp travelers and by the time you reach that point you can easily full heal every traveler every turn. It's quite funny that him and other bosses waste a turn activating their aura signaling some kind of mega attack but it's always underwhelming and best case scenario, only kills one low hp member, in a game where full revival items drop like candy from NPCs and enemy encounters.
No one cares about exploring the world so they focus on things like "repetive" turn based combat or just follow guides and spoil the hidden quests like the Dark God quest
>>3655571>whining about grind in the first gameThe first game wasn't even that grindy, unless you absolutely refused to explore and ran from every encounter on top of that. Or unless you're a dumbass like me and decide to completely change a character's build right before the final boss, but at that point in the game grinding up the needed JP is not that big of a problem.
>>3655556Holy shit retard just install the New Dawn or Journey's End 2 mod if you want a challenge. What did you expect when OT1 was even easier?
>>3656158>noooooo you cant criticize my game because you can just mod it!not downloading your fanmade garbage, shill.
>>3655571>whining about grind in the first game to saying that the second game fixed all of its problemsShit like this is what reminds me that most people playing video games really only care that they get to watch pretty shapes and colors move while they hold a controller.>>3656097>The first game wasn't even that grindy, unless you absolutely refused to explore and ran from every encounter on top of that. The actual reason people thought the first game was "grindy" is because most people fucking suck at basic battle strategy. They just want to use what they perceive as their strongest abilities every turn until they see a victory screen, and if they can't, they think they have to grind. The shame of it is just how much Octopath goes out of the way to make strategizing easy, down to showing you enemy weaknesses and turn orders. If you're smart, you can use that info to pull out wins against bosses that are way stronger than you are and it's super fun. But if you're a scrub, you'll just suck and whine about it. One of my complaints about Octopath II was specifically that every character now feels like a one-man-army with almost TOO MUCH utility, probably because the devs realized that asking players to strategize and remember which characters work best together for certain objectives was way too much for the modern midwit to figure out.
>>3656244>asking players to strategize and remember which characters work best together for certain objectivesPreparing for the final boss was SO much fun in that regard, especially since you need to prepare two distinct parties at once. Kinda wish there was more of that.
>>3656158>lol just install MODS brobethesda has ruined a generation of gaymers
>>3656289>especially since you need to prepare two distinct parties at onceI was really annoyed by this in the first game, actually. I didn't think it was going to force me to use everyone; I thought it was going to be that your B-team replaces the A-team only if they get KO'd, like Final Fantasy style.I was fairly low-level by the end, so I loaded all my good shit onto my A-team and handled everything with minimal fuss, even the first form of the final boss, which most people seemed to say was the hardest. Then I was forced to use B-team and got ass-raped. I was so annoyed and didn't want to do the whole boss gauntlet again so I just never finished the game.Honestly, I'm split on the whole "multiple team" stuff in JRPGs. I like forming multiple teams out of available characters, but I'm not always super keen on actually using them simultaneously.
>>3655556>Why was this game so much easier than the first?Because time is precious in nowdays, also you already know how to play octopath2 if you played the first one.
>>3656305>Because time is precious in nowdays>get to new town>15 minutes of talking>5 minute dungeon>another 10 minutes of talkingIf that were true, they could have cut out about 80% of the dialogue. I'm so sick of RPGs that won't stop talking at me. Like yeah I understand that dialogue is important, but quality over quantity might be nice. If they were going to copy something about old JRPGs, it should have been the pacing instead of the graphics.
>>3656244>The actual reason people thought the first game was "grindy" is because most people fucking suck at basic battle strategythe funniest thing was that we found out levels stat increases fall off a fucking cliff after 20 and never recovers. I grinded once around the chapter 3 sections, realized leveling up did nothing, and changed my party around instead. It means all those retards complaining about grinding basically just wasted their time and never looked and compared their stats after leveling up.>>3655579You always have the tools to destroy any boss in OT2, Hikari starts out with the best sword skills in his latent power and they buffed hired help's damage so much that even the earlier summons can hit damage cap 4x. The game also throws a lot of strong equipment at you in early areas, and if you do Partitio's boat quest first you get lategame equipment and a ton of fucking cash from chests collected from sailing around.I found and unlocked "mythical bore" early and that was a guaranteed 99,999 which means every boss would get "one-shotted" after except for postgame ones. But if I had gone to Gravell instead I would've found the actual strongest physical skill from talking to a guy. No matter what you do, you end up becoming too powerful.>>3656158>What did you expect when OT1 was even easier?Definitely not easier. Travelers were weaker, equipment was harder to get and the advanced jobs in OT1 are at least gatekept by a boss. Whereas one advanced job in OT2 is found outside of Throne's starting area and destroys all random encounters, another is unlocked easily and it also happens to be the best one, and the last two are shit and don't matter. OT1 did have its faults (making every boss that had the bow weakness a joke because of how stupid arrowstorm was) but OT2 is way worse at balancing in that regard.
>>3655556>Why was this game so much easier than the first?its the exact same fucking game. you just figured it out in the first and then actually played the second
>>3655556In what way was it easier?Everything was easy besides the final final boss in both games.
>>3655556>devs would rather nerf the whole fucking game than add shared EXPwhy is this studio like this? I'd rather they made it much harder but I didn't need to level each character individually because that adds fucking nothing to the experience. this was literally one of the main complaints about 1
>>3656373Watched a streamer discover hired help early in the game. Abused it for every boss up til the final boss, where he ran out of money. Since hired help had taken care of every fight before he never invested in any actual skills or weapons. So it ended up being a dragged out strugglefest where he tickled the final boss the death. It was funny as fuck.
>>3656604Because having unshared EXP incentivizes the player to constantly change up their party formation instead of just sticking to the same characters for the entire game, which the developers obviously thought was more important than raw difficulty. Also, it doesn't make sense for characters not in battle to get experience. Simple as.
>>3656943>having unshared EXP incentivizes the player to constantly change up their party formationThis. I was constantly rotating my party members in 1, it was fun, it presented some new perspectives, and it made preparing for the true last boss easier.
>>3656943You can't swap out the character you start as though, so they'll be vastly overleveled compared to everyone else
>>3657076>vastlyThat's a huge overstatement.
>>3655556Unironically because you had access to unique and better gear far earlier than the previous iteration, and it was more plentiful. When I say better gear, I mean gear that actually had unique traits to it, which was mostly end-game equipment in OT1.
>>3657566also the travelers are stronger since they have latent powers, while the bosses are weaker. ot1 miguel (chapter 3) is somehow harder than throne's final boss.
>>3655556Because characters have more tools. It makes 2 more fun than 1, even if it's easier.
