I own all mainline Disgaeas except for 3 and D2. I did own 3, but didn't like it. The Disgaea I've put most time into is 5, and that was only 30 hours so I didn't get far. If I had to play only one, what should it be? I don't care about jumping into 6 and then not getting references to whatever happened in 2. Which game, as a self contained package, is the best?

>>36561383 is my personal favorite, I've played 1-3 and love em, I went through the first few chapters of 4 and didn't like it (what the fuck did they do to axel) and i haven't touched 5 or 6, I thought 7 was alright. you should also try out the other games like makai kingdom and phantom brave, they're great.
