What would it have been like?
name's been trademarked by ritoit was league of legends ultimate for first zilean, then ekko, that didn't even make it through alpha testing, where it completely and totally rewinded time by 5 secondsthey eventually came up with a use for this ultimate, in competitive play, when a totally unknown bug happens for the first time, they use chronobreak to revert the game to what they call a "neutral state", whenever the last time anyone wasn't in range of anything, and then it becomes a bit of a mindgame where the team is like hmm, are we gonna do the exact same thing again, or are we gonna bail and do something else
>>3659869See FF8 schizo thread #208
>>3659891That retard doesn't play the games or know anything about them.
>>3659903Nobody's played Chrono Break because it doesn't exist. CT had a red hair protag. CC had a blue hair protag. Therefore CB would have had a yellow hair protag. and...and...???And it would have been released in 2003, then re-released in 2023 as a blurry upscaled HD remaster for it's 20th anniversary like everything else. And...your dog will still be dead. But it would have had a different name because you named it after your favorite character in CB. And you'd have met a girl in a park who also named her dog after a CB character. And they would have made a Hallmark Movie about it. Yeah. And then Hallmark Channel would have made a bunch of live action movies based on JRPGs instead of endless christmas movies. Covid never happened. Trump would be finishing his 2nd Term this year. And you'd be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but thanks to pro-trans medical research in that timeline it's a trivial procedure to replace it with a cybernetic prosthetic that also eliminates the post orgasm refractory period so you were going to replace it anyways. And then, a Russian cyber attack would make everyone jizz buckets for days demanding ransom to fund the war effort. But nobody would pay. And that would be the last war in history. Nobody could have predicted. Except for that anon in an alternate timeline mocking your inability to answer OP's question.
>>3659994>CT had a red hair protag. CC had a blue hair protag. Therefore CB would have had a yellow hair protag. No, it would be green.
Just play Another Eden already.
>>3660270The gacha and horrible grindy gacha tier sidequest turns me off immensely.
>>3660104>green hairGlenn returning as a human would be awesome.
>>3660363Blonde hair can turn green in pools if there is copper. >the more you know
>>3660363is it me or does glenn look a bit like marle/crono?
>>3659869https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3SU5dDBwCIit could have been amazing but it's too late now>made in 2003>high rez sprites with low poly accessories those games aged the best>Akira Toriyama art directs (rip)>music by Yasunori Mitsuda with that tropical jazz still implemented >Masato Kato writes, but keep him from going on a tangent.....Bascially the time line has been shattered and it's our hero's duty to restore it. Everyone is alive from chrono trigger.
>>3659869>What would it have been like?A bit like Final Fantasy Dimensions II, according to Takashi Tokita.>"There was actually a time when I planned a new title called Chrono Break," Tokita explained via email. "Though it was canceled before accomplishing anything, the overall idea for the title was carried over to my latest game, Final Fantasy Dimensions II. Aemo’s character setting and the balance between the three characters at the beginning…these were based on the original concept [for Chrono Break] but were reworked for this title."
>>3660506>Final Fantasy Dimensions IITime travel again?
>>3660434Why are there no video games that can replicate that "Chrono" feeling of adventure and wonder? I'm wondering if it's just because I'm not a child anymore but several games have tried and just outright failed. Closest thing I can think of to a modern equivalent is Another Eden which is unfortunately a gacha and Xenoblade Chronicles.
>>3660906i played CT last year and got that feeling, i really don't know. i think it might be due to just how fleshed out the universe is, all the twists and turns in the story (i thought magus was the final boss, and was pleasantly surprised when there was more) and the fact that it 'feels' like going on a big adventure with friends. there's little exposition so most of the stuff you find feels new and interestingthat and time travel is really fucking cool, and to put that in a middle ages type game is great
>>3660506Another Eden and Dimensions 2 are attempts at using the vague Plot outline of Chrono Break. Both are essentially end up being about saving Schala in the end so Chrono Break was probably just going to be a less convoluted take on Chrono Cross.
>>3660906Akira Toriyama had a very heavy hand in the ploti dropped everything i was doing, wore by dbz shirt for like 10 straight until it reeked of autism, while completely and totally no lifing chrono trigger until i platinumed the gamei got all the routes to the developer ending for the first time in my life and i honestly though it was pretty easy when my irc friends in the '90s told me it was basically impossible to dojust equip the rainbow sword with the wrath band and all crono needs to do is exist and he shits out damage
>>3660963i forgot a critical "in memory of him" in what i was typing
>>3660906You may enjoy this next year.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16I1dmUGIHs
>>3660906Idk, I have had before in other titles over the years.>Arc the Lad 2>Breath of Fire 3 near the end of the game >Dragon Quest 8>FF XIII-2hopping between the eras and such. Maybe it was just the music that hit something.>not an RPG, but Mario galaxy and Galaxy 2>Prinny 2not much exploration, but the sense of wonder of finally seeing a Netherworld outside of the usual grids. I would love a NIS netherworld exploration game. >when first starting kingdom hearts 2there was something about that series that made me subconsciously uneasy >Dragon Quest 11The sense of wonder is around, but you just gotta look for it man. Maybe I am just a tad more naive or enthralled more easily than others.
>>3659869No clue. The thematic jump from CT to CC was astronomical. I get the feeling Kato would not have been content with doing a straightforward sequel.
>>3659994Oh, what could have been...
>>3659869the cats from Chrono Trigger would end up being the big bad, or the God figure
>>3660963based. the story has the intrigue of a FF, the whimsical nature of DQ, and the killer pacing of DB manga. its a trifecta
>>3661282nta but none of those games have the 'chrono' feeling. its not just the sense of wonder. its the pacing. how each scene is packed with subtext. how the game feels grounded yet dreamy. the multiple rug-pulls. the snappy gameplay. the kickass soundtrack
>>3661282Those games are fine and all but they're not really having the chrono quality and feel, I'd say out of any game you might've mentioned Grandia 1 and 2 fit the bill though they feel slightly undercooked compared to Chrono Trigger and have some parts that drag on. I was more so talking about Chrono Trigger imitators like Sea of Stars though and how they fail to recapture the magic.
>>3661686Exactly I feel like all the other games slightly fall short in one of those categories. DQ is a great series but it's just slightly too comfy to be like Chrono Trigger. BoF lacks the eerie mysteries of the world that Chrono Trigger has as well, not even hating on them or anything but somehow Chrono Trigger has the right balance of a lot of different elements. Xenogears is actually a good answer, but it leans extremely hard into the dark science fiction and religion motifs, so it hits differently too. https://youtu.be/BXo3DrXHY8w?si=fqSC0Qbcs-jEeTVbhttps://youtu.be/Knll_W2d_Tg?si=5i_U2TvWh18cjHWW
