I've only just heard about this game today. It releases in 2 weeks? How? It looks like crap. What do you mean it was originally released in 2021? How have I never heard of it? Ooooh, it was a mobile game for the Apple Arcade.
OK. That explains a lot.
>>
>>3661413
It looks fucking great, but of course permanently seething shitposters like you can't appreciate the painstakingly crafted diorama environments.
>>
>>3661414
Don't reply to yourself. I'm bored with fake content and awful strawmans.
>>
>>3661414
What a joke. You know the game is bad when it's merits are outside the game itself.
>Made with 100% Recycled Ocean Plastic
>>
>>3661413

I do like the idea of the crafted dioramas and the designs look as one would expect from a Sakaguchi game but the actual game does still look unpolished.

Core FF fans may give him a chance for old times sake but i don´t think he´ll be able to get away with it. At least not from the go. Maybe if some good modders take an interest something could be done.
>>
>>3661423
Fuck off schizo.
>>3661428
Speaking of "strawmans", where have I said anything about the rest of the game? I just said it looks great.
>>
>>3661439
Oh, you were seriously telling people how you want them to engage and what they should appreciate.
That's even funnier.
>>
>>3661450
Why yes, I was mocking that anon's lack of taste and desire to seethe and complain endlessly, as is my right.
>>
>>3661428
That's why I'm hesitant to pick it up. Some people say it's more final fantasy than modern final fantasy. But I don't get that impression from the trailers.

Hopefully they offer a demo. Because I don't want to spoil it by watching a let's play on youtube.
>>
>>3662242
>Hopefully they offer a demo.
It's coming out on the Switch. Do the math.

I'm thinking about picking it up too, but $50 for a rerelease of an F2P mobile title is too much.
>>
It's another square enix fans slurp up phones games episode
>>
>>3662248
Fantasian was never F2P. Apple Arcade releases are subscription based.
>>
>>3661414
>It looks fucking great
Well,...
>>
>>3662277
You sub to Apple Arcade and don't pay separately for the games themselves. Fine, a $5 mobile game, if that'll make you feel better.
>>
The diorama aesthetic is weird. I mean, photorealistic backgrounds with pixel sprite characters is kind of interesting.

But this is 3D models on a photorealistic environment - of a closeup miniature. Idk. Maybe if the models looked like plastic miniatures too?
>>
>>3662302
It looks like an evolution of PS1-era pre-rendered background games. I dunno, I like the style. It's certainly eye-catching.
>>
>>3662302
I'm not a graphics snob. I can appreciate that they experiment with new looks. I'm more concerned with the story, because it was originally written for a mobile platform. In my experience mobile game plots tend to meander because they were released in chapters or parts over a period of time to keep players coming back.
In the case of Fantasian, I read it was released in 2 parts originally.

It's going to be like binge watching old TV shows on a streaming platform. They weren't made to be marathoned. Parts are repetitive, because previous episode were aired months or years apart. You know? Cliff hangers that aren't going to keep anyone on the edge of their seat because they go straight into the next episode.
>>
>>3662308
>I read it was released in 2 parts originally
Two parts is not that bad of a split. Probably not going to have the same issues as binging a TV show.
>>
>>3662302
>3D models on a photorealistic environment
Ugly
>>
>>3662308
Is the game in ops picrel a mobile game that's rereleased on pc?
>>
>>3662312
More specifically an Apple Arcade game, but yes.
>>
>>3662316
Very sceptical about the game. Have you tried it?
>>
>>3662347
No, but I will be trying the rerelease.
>>
>>3662349
Depends on the price, I reckon.
>>
>>3662352
It releases on the Switch, anon. What price?
>>
>>3662355
That I didn't know. I was of course talking about the prizes this game ain't gonna win.
>>
>>3661413
looked at the trailers and seems derivative. Yet another amnesic protagonist? Why not use Cry On as a base?
>>
>>3662634
>amnesic protagonist
Basic isn't necessarily bad, but I'm afraid the story here will be shit.

I had no issues “binging” ffd, felt like a traditional old ff game to me in terms of story. Granted idk who directed ffd mostly just going off the fact that its also a mobile rpg released in parts. I really liked it despite that. One of my strongests never ever wishes is to see this game properly remade or at least ported on a pc platform. It is the most overlooked and sadly overshadowed game I know of.
>>
People are vastly underestimating this game, it's a real gem that rivals Sakaguchi's work with FFIX and just his career in general. Also the second half is going to filter a LOT of people because that's when the real difficultly kicks in.
>>
It's nice but I won't be buying it unless it's on sale.
I already played it on an apple arcade free trial and it's good but gooch already got the bag from apple for it.
He's lucky I'm even considering buying it to play again desu.
>>
>>3662634
>Why not use Cry On as a base?
We're never getting it.
Cavia's gone, it's gone. It was gone before AQ and Cavia went under, Gooch killed the soul when he had Kusonoki (the kuso isn't a coincidence btw) take over for Fujisaka, the same happened here.
Too much happened between cry on and now, they worked through last story, tera battle and eventually fantasian.
Even if in some alternate dimension toylogic & access merged together and Saito/Enix funded it as a small AA dreamproject: I don't think we'd get the cry on of our dreams.
>>
>>3662820
Shill me on it some more. The fact that it was trapped in the Apple Arcade has me hesitant.
>>
Holy fuck you guys are retards
>>
I have a free apple arcade trial I can activate. Should I just play it right now or buy this version?
>>
>>3667663
If you've got a setup that'll work good with it then yeah. If you can TV out from your phone/ipad, it's alright. Heard that Apple TV's the best for it. Probably good on a macbook or mini if you're a student or poser or smth.
I only had an ipad pro kicking around and I did that, tried airplay to my TV which was alright and then went the TV out route with a controller.
I played for free on a trial too and I'll say that I think the game was a terrible match for the service. It's a great game but it's the kind of game you want to sit down and play for hours and hours so the mobile platform bit's a bit of a swing and a miss along with the controls on a mobile device vs a gamepad.

You've got nothing to lose with the trial, if you like it and don't mind the platform you can play it for free 100%. If you like the game but hate the platform you can buy it on PC. If you hate the platform before buying, the switch version is right there to be your "demo", then you can buy on PC etc.
>>
>>3667663
The console/PC version will have full voice acting and have completely remastered controls and visuals for platforms that use proper displays.
>>
Has anyone tried mercaneries lament?
>>
>>3661413
I think the grapical style looks great, but
>3 year old game
>originally made for phones and tablets
>Denuvo
>$50
lol
>>
>>3668741
It's a full-length game. It has Uematsu's final full OST, which is also his longest one. Worth the goybucks.
>>
>>3668782
An Uematsu soundtrack isn't a system seller anymore desu.
He's a great dude but he's no Mizuta. This game has designs by some cool dudes.
You could slap a big logo on the box saying "Soundtrack by Okabe" and I'd say damn, that's some shit worth passing up Apple arcade for.
>>
What games does this compare to? In terms of battle system, tone, etc.

I like the idea of the World of Ruin-like second part, but I am always sceptical about proper story driven long games working on mobile.
>>
>>3668741
Will be 70% off in less than a year.
>>
>>3668785
>he's X but not contrarian Y
lmao
>>
>>3668741
Not even a premium app, the whole apple subsciption system where the game was jailed sounds gay. Also the new voices in Neo Dimension add a lot to the JRPG feel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIz1fLlQlg4

Will keep it in my radar and purchase after a nice discount
>>
>>3661413
I really want to play this, but I feel like it's the kind of game that'll be on sale for 10 bucks half a year from release
>>
>>3670637
Square enix is allergic to good sales (if it's a Japanese game). It'll be 50 to 60% off.
>>
>>3661413
>Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper
Nah, I'm good.
>>
>>3661413
>No demo
But why? The only reason I bought RS2 remake was because I liked the demo.
>>
Soundtrack so far (I've just got to the fortune teller's house in En so very very early on) is a bit lacklustre. Maybe I went in with too high expectations? When I think of Terra's theme in FFVI, the bombing mission from FFVII, the Rebel Army theme from FFII, etc. So far nothing that sticks in my head.

The combat seems okay and punchy, but I know I'm at a point where the depth doesn't come into it.

UI is horrid, it would be nice if it still wasn't laid out like a mobile game.

It's got really good reviews for a port of a three year old mobile game, and the diorama shit is neat I guess, so I'll stick with it. I'm sure I've played plenty of good JRPGs with underwhelming opening hours.
>>
MC is unusually cool for a Guch game.
>>
Played for 1 hour and 50 minutes on hard mode before refunding. Good game, but not worth $50. I'll buy it at 30 - 50% off.
>>
>>3669233
Will be 100% off once Denuvo is removed in 6 months.
>>
How's Switch performance? I'd rather get around Denuvo and save $50 by pirating it on there but I've heard battle load times are really bad.
