Some of this may be old news at this point, but here’s a rundown of the cut content I worked on or saw being developed:• Insomnia Prologue: The idea was to have a training segment in the city with Noctis before he departs. This would have included more of his relationship with Regis and the bros' families. It was cut before the game was released, and there were discussions about turning it into an episode for the second season pass, but that idea was ultimately scrapped.• Galdin Quay: A spa was planned as a visitable location. Some of the dialogue was repurposed for the Assassin’s Creed festival instead.• Insomnia Invasion: There were discussions of an episode where you’d play as Regis using the Ring of the Lucii. This would have focused on his perspective, with Nyx only making a brief appearance.
>>3666704• Clarus Amicitia: More of Clarus was originally planned for the story. He was conflicted about the tradition of having his lineage serve as shields for the king. Lines addressing Gladio’s grappling with this were cut when Clarus was essentially removed from the game, but this was one of the reasons for Gladio’s outburst in Chapter 10.• Reclaiming Insomnia: Set to take place between Chapters 4 and 5, this mission would have had Cor accompanying the party to expel the remaining troops from Insomnia and reclaim the city, including a fight against General Glauca. The group would have traveled by Chocobo since they didn’t have access to the Regalia at that point. There was a strong push for this to be an update to the base game, but it was discarded once Insomnia was repurposed for Episode Ardyn.• Luna Date: Planned to take place the night between your meeting with Camelia and the day of the Leviathan summoning. It was cut and later repurposed for the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, as the decision was made to focus on alternate timeline events for Luna instead (which also never came to fruition).
>>3666706• Niflheim: There were plans for an open-world section with missions set after the dungeon in Fodina Caestino and before the bros boarded the train again. There was significant interest in this update even after the game was released, but it was never implemented.• Ghorovas Rift: The snowy area where Shiva is found was initially planned to be larger and more explorable. Remnants of it still exist in the Pocket Edition.• Tenebrae: There were ideas to make the destroyed city explorable, including quests focused on rebuilding it after its destruction.
haha lifted truck go brrrr!
>>3666704>>3666706>>36667071) It's true that there is/was a Final Fantasy Versus XIII REBOOT project ongoing?2) If not, is anyone in squenix at least considering it?3) Any information about Verum Rex? Will it be its own game or not?
>>36667831) Some people are on board with the idea, though the higher-ups weren’t initially. However, they’ve been warming up to it over time. Fan reception to certain storylines and references in Kingdom Hearts 4 could be crucial.2) Yes, they’re aware of fan interest and wouldn’t have allowed Nomura to sneak in all those references in Kingdom Hearts if they were intent on completely burying Versus XIII. That said, Kingdom Hearts 4 and the third installment of FF7 Remake are their current priorities.3) There was a time when Verum Rex was being considered either as a standalone game or as part of Kingdom Hearts 4. For now, Nomura has opted for the latter.
Whatever went on behind the scenes of this game is far more interesting than the unfinished product itself.
Pretty much this >>3666996On paper XV has some good ideas but fumbled almost all of them. Honestly don't know why they took a big multimedia approach when the project was so troubled.
>>3667131>Honestly don't know why they took a big multimedia approach when the project was so troubled.Final Fantasy VII.I'm not joking or shitting you. It's why XIII ended up the way it did too. Gooch, Wada, Kitase & Hashimoto are responsible for how FF XV turned out.Let's do this timeline style and unfortunately FF XI needs to be in here and it's staggered:>The Spirits Within JUL 01>X JUL 01>XI PS2 (JP) MAY 02>XI PC JP NOV 02>X-2 MAR 03 (RIPip Squaresoft)>Squaresoft & Enix merge APR 03>XI Zilart JP APR 03>XI PC NA OCT 03>XI PS2 NA Mar 04>XI PC EU SEP 04>BC: FF VII SEP 04>XI CoP SEP 04>FF VII Snowboarding APR 05>FF VII Advent children SEP 05>FF VII Last order SEP 05>Dirge of Cerberus: FF VII JAN 06>XII MAR 06>XI TOAU APR 06>Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode -FF VII- AUG 06>Crisis Core: FF VII SEP 07>FF VII: On the Way to a Smile APR 09>FF XIII DEC 09>FF XIV SEP 10>FF Type-0 OCT 11>FF VII The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story DEC 11>FF XIII-2 DEC 11>LIGHTNING RETURNS: FF XIII NOV 13>FF VII G-Bike OCT 14>FF XV NOV 16 (WHERE MY VERSUS AT YO)Gooch left SE but he didn't have to. He was responsible for keeping it alive by greenlighting XI. He left before XI got released properly, before Zilart hit and it moved beyond JP. By the time it hit EU, he was already starting Mistwalker. There's debates on whether he walked or he was pushed, if he was pushed, that falls to Wada.X-2 saw some moderate success as a sequel, VII was their biggest game. Compilation of FF VI started in 2004. It was extremely popular too. XIII, T0 & V. XIII are all Fabula Nova Crystalis (FNC) games, designed as a shared world to tell stories in (like CoVII). V. XIII never made it, so it go to be XV and, hey this is a good point to get new fans in, it's been in development for all these year and so it's a multimedia project.CoVII was profitable, XI kept them afloat & Allowed for a rebuilt XIV through to ShB. Why not make XV a giant franchise split across everything?
Also as you can see. SE has been releasing competing products in the same month & financial quarter since before they had the Enix baggage. The retardation didn't debut in 2021-2023, it's a 20 year old concept.
>>3667131Amazing how they managed to fumble so much: storytelling, tone, combat, and the open world gameplay.
>>3667274If they hadn't fucked around with the dev team for years before actually giving them funding and time, it would have been a different story. People like to cite that one guy who said Nomura wanted to make Vs a musical, but by that point he had been working on this project for years without SE taking it seriously and still throwing his team onto every other game instead. Of course his mind would wander to new and different things, as all artists do when not allowed to fully commit to and finish what he was currently making.Every idea has a limited window of time to be created with the original vision, and that's something people don't consciously understand, but they see it in the way that every Remake is completely different and lacks the soul of the original. Even if Nomura was given the funding and the team and the time to make Versus again exactly as he wants to, it would NOT be the same Versus that we all saw and wanted in 2006. Nomura is not the same person he was then, he has new experiences and ideas and emotions and opinions that he cannot just throw away when he writes or draws.
>>3667331Insane scan
>>3666800>Yes, they’re aware of fan interestGee, it surely doesn't feel that way considering they would rather give the precedence to KH4 when the only reason people still give a fuck about KH is because they hope to see more about Versus/VR
>>3666704forgot this shit game even existed.
>>3668179I get the feeling that Kingdom Hearts fans who only learned about VSXIII through Verum Rex are more interested in Verum Rex than those who followed VSXIII from the start, since there's no way Verum Rex will ever match the tone and plot of VSXIII.
>>3670009Sounds right. I was on board Vs from day one, and Verum Rex is obviously not it.What I wish is for Nomura to be allowed to do a "directors cut" of XV since it's still recent and all the tools and assets are likely still sitting there on a hard drive. At least that way we can still get the same aesthetic sense and general tone he was going for back then, anything he makes from scratch now is going to have a different intention.
>>3670015Give us Insomnia, godammit.
>>3673638And Niflheim.And Tenebrae.And Solheim.And Stella.And the yellow-haired soldier.And the eyes that can see the light of expiring life.And water-combat.And controllable mechs.
>>3676182And Etro!
>>3666704What I don't understand is why weren't the DLCs integrated into the main game. Why doesn't the game automatically transition to Gladio's side adventure with Gilgamesh intercut with Noctis and the other two dudes doing that one dungeon without him? Why don't we get to see Ignis fucking around in not!Venice while Noctis is knocked out after Luna's death? It's bad enough when games don't telegraph *when* in the main quest does it make narrative sense for you to play the available DLCs but it's even worse when you can't do it even if you want to because you access them via a separate fucking menu in the main screen. What were they thinking.
>>3679028>I am a robot magitek clone made by the evil empire>but also have a whole anime backstory about growing up as a normal poor fat kid
>>3679051his original design was much better than what we ended up getting
>>3666704You know, despite everything, there is something I really like about ffxv despite no liking the game istelf: its aesthetics. I love the aesthetics, the few cities, the character design etc. High fantasy in such a familiar contemporary setting is just so refreshingI wish this game was better, I really do, I wish there was more to explore, more cities, more freedom, better combat, better plot etc.
>>3681381If there is a theme to XV it is Wasted PotentialAll that money, all that time, all that talent, wasted by suits' meddling
>>3667218I really dun like the fact Advent children is 20 years old.. Why you do this D: sidenote played platinumed Ff0, 15 and Theatrerhythm.. Also beat Cc on PSP is remeowster of that and pixel also 7 worth?
>>3681381>You know, despite everything, there is something I really like about ffxv despite no liking the game istelf: its aesthetics.Nah, Versus did even that way better. In XV the "modern" part completely overshadows the "fantasy" one.The most iconic place (Insomnia) is barely there, you pass the majority of the game into empty wastelands or boring soulless military bases. And the saddest part is that not even Verum Rex seems able to capture the Versus feel, it looks like a generic edgy shonen.
>>3681601>The most iconic place (Insomnia) is barely there, you pass the majority of the game into empty wastelands or boring soulless military bases.I agree with you, I wish the good portions were bigger and better.
One thing I never see mentioned (maybe it's headcanon on my part or just scrapped ideas from the team), is Odin being possibly present in the game. He's clearly depicted in the official Big Bang video for FFXV with Amano's art in 3D, and he looks really similar to one of the Lucii that seems to have a strange focus on him in the movie and in the final cutscene where Noctis is stabbed multiple times by them. It looks to me like he's the embodiment of all the Lucii or something like that when Noctis calls upon them and all the spectral forms concentrate into one above the citadel, although the design seems different in that particular shot, so who knows. Also the first of the lucii to appear in front of Noctis before Somnus goes right through him.A lot left unexplained about the lucii and their nature as such all in all.Unless that specific king of Lucis has some lore around him hidden somewhere, then my guess is wrong. Looking it up now, it looks like he has a royal arm attached to him, that of the Wise. Not that there's much that's said about this king or many of the others.I remember Bahamut being the one to bless the Caelum line with the royal arms. Perhaps they're just a reworking of the concept of Odin.
>>3681731correctionRewatched to cutscene to be sure and Somnus stands first in front of Noctis and the Wise goes through him to stab Noctis first.
>>3681601The fact that we only get to explore one small (Lestallum) and a half (Altissia) towns/cities in an "open world game"...
>>3681381>its aesthetics. I love the aesthetics, the few cities, the character design etc.Oh fuck off. The cities are boring. The designs are drab.
>>3683324Jesus you freaks have got comprehension issues. Yes, the cities and the game suck, but the modern-world high fantasy approach is really nice and so is character design and the entire blending of FF and contemporary civilization aesthetics. That is what I mean. Although shallow, Insomnia looks great, the empires, the retro cars, the robot gunners and the flying ships, the regalia, everything. If It managed to be a good game it would have become a classic, that is what I mean. And I hope one day we get a better game with the same aesthetical inspirations.
