Just the SFC version.
>>3674006I don't
Most pointless job system ever. In reality it just made leveling a character slow, cumbersome, and unsatisfying.
>>3674006I'd rather have a good game rather than this trash.
>>3674006It tries to do too much, and is only okay at any of them. Systems aside, you'd think they'd do way more with the world splitting (like inspiring people in the real world to create things in the dream world, or npcs having a change of heart because you do something to their dream selves), but 90% of the time it's just a different world map you go through.
>>3674006I wish I knew about dragon quest as a kid.
>>3674006One of my favourites in the series. Though some stuff does suck, likely because they didn't have enough time which I suspect got to the crunch halfway through development, or in the storywriting since there are a bunch of set ups and ideas but nothing comes of them. The game could have been far greater but I like it still.>>3675235You can get them on mobile for effectively the same version. I think my dad got me DQIX because he saw the name Dragon Quest and thought I'd like it as a kid, which I did and it ended up being one of the main games I used to play when I was younger.
>>3675364Mobile versions of jrpgs have the most soulless looking UI. Like it was made for brain damaged individuals
>>3674006No, its peak
>>3674006A hard jrpg, that isn't dark souls, would be nice!
The whole DQ trilogy on the DS was fucking great.
>>3675539Demons and dark souls 1 aren't designed to be hard. They just let you learn their systems through experience instead of handholding. It wasn't until dark souls 2 and after that from drank their own prepare to die coolaid and started thinking souls was about being hard or whatever. Now all the bosses have like 20 hit noninterruptable combos. The bosses in demons souls where probably the best.
>You need more?Yes, and the original version unironically has more.
>>3677186quick rundown?
>>3675235I'm glad i bought IV, V & VI a couple of years before XI came out, i think i bought all 3 for like 140$>>3674006Best soundtrack in the series>>3675364Love this character
>>3677190He's over-blowing it in typical /v/ fashion.6 features Monster Tamers as a class. There's a selection of monsters that can be tamed in the SNES version, just like in 5. The DS version removes this feature and adds a collection of various types of slimes around the world that can be recruited after meeting conditions, though the class still exists.Other than that, the DS version actually does have more content, but only marginally so. The addition of Party Chat, Deathcod/Reaper's Peak having three variations instead of just one, and the addition of Suite Dreams. That said, the DS version, being based on 7 like the other two DS remakes, loses a lot of it's unique visuals. And I personally believe the soundtrack is weaker than the other DS games and the SNES original.
>>3675235I sold my copies of IV and VI just a couple of years ago for like $200 or so. I realized I would never get a copy of V, and that those ports are missing shit anyway.I should have kept IX, though. I went full retard on clearing out the set and that move only made sense in the moment.
>>3675905Dark Souls 1 is absolutely designed to be hard dude. Its just that (most) of the difficulty comes from withholding knowledge about game mechanics or scenario design from the player, so the player is stepping on a rake every 15 seconds and has to feel his way through things.DaS2 did a good bit of this as well but also added in a lot more legit combat gauntlets and then SotFS went crazy modo with the enemy ambush spam (its still not very hard compared to something like BB or later Souls games).
>>3677264why did they censor that class?
>>3677264None of shit the DS version adds really matter, while what they took out (the monsters) does. You're also forgetting the most retarded change of the DS version: bundling skills and spells together under "magic". Skills aren't spells, and this matters quite a bit when you have enemies muting your spells, if you didn't play the original you wouldn't know what you can and can't use while muted and you wouldn't even know why. That and in the OG skills and spells are neatly organized, while in the DS version they just add things in between other things as you learn them so you never know where is what.
>>3677546It wasn't censored, it's a remake so they rebalanced and tweaked the systems. Removed because either they thought it was too much work to integrate or too redundant. It comes down to preference between the two versions really. I prefer SNES.
I preferred 7, but I think 6 got hated on a lot. Definitely one of the weaker DQs but it looked so good on the super famicom, extremely colorful and easy on the eyes. I appreciated the artstyle much more than FF6 for example.
>>3677546>censorI'm putting that word on the top shelf until you dumb bitches learn how to use it properly.
>>3677782>>3677950I'm almost entirely sure he was joking.
>>3677994I assumed he was making an honest mistake and mixing it up with Bravely Default. Or maybe an ESL.
>>3674016did it ever good an translationI tried to lock for un but the only thing i found wasnt completed past the intro and locked the game at one point
>>3677803Yeah, it's one of the best looking RPGs on the SNES. It's just a shame the game doesn't do the visuals justice.
>>3674006DW 3 and 4 on NES are insanely barebones and boring. What do all the remakes add that lets them release them like real games normal people would play
>>3675235Eh, just invest in the stock market.
>>3682914a both were not bare bones they were top of the line for nes but were graphically 3 years behind due to translation time delays.but the remakes on ds made them bright and colorful, gave them menu and inventory quality of life enhancements, mini medals expanded more dialog and more accents. in the case of 3 its modeled after the gbc version so it had an extra dungeon and content that had been in there. 4 was made way easier on its conversion which if you are a normie who is scared to grind is an improvement the audio enchantments were vast too from music to sound effects
I'm gonna be realHaving the most DBZ-looking cast in the series really bumps this one up on the list for me. I don't like all the wimpy or weird looking Heroes from the other games, I just want a Saiyan
>>3684566I have no shame admitting that I'm glad Toriyama is dead. I'm sick and tired of his arr rook same shit.
>>3684610Toriyama's really good at drawing fantasy clothing and some monster designs, tho
>>3684612Yeah, that eventually get censored at some point. Either way, after so many years of it you don't even see his characters anymore. You just see Recoom, Trunks, Krillin and so on.
>>3684715well I can't delete this post so you must all suffer it's existence
>>3675235sometimes I think about being a kid seeing the games and thinking "wow they are ripping off dragon ball" and kick myself
>>3684566>My FUARKING HEROES ... and Nevan
>>3674006The DS remakes are completely soulless and are effectively the same game with different content. Same exact assets recycled for each game, including UI. It's as soulless as the FF Pixel Remaster.
>>3688408The visuals in the ds games look excellent and fit the trilogy very well. They where inspired by how dq7 looked on the Ps1
>>3674006>>3675235>>3675904>>3675235'02 zoomer, loved IX, still my favourite JRPG of all time, bought VI on release and still play it regularly, wish I had known about the ports of IV and V while I had a chanceAlso basically my introduction to hot anime girls with the pics of Milly and Ashlynn in the booklet which I treasured even when I couldn't play the game. Milly was basically my first waifu and I tried very hard to imagine being with her for years as a pre-teen. I think without these games I honestly might never have really got into anime/manga cultureArigato Mr. Toriyama-sama
>>3688408I agree, the originals all had their distinct style and the 3 DS remakes all look the same down to using some of the same background arts and NPCs, it's ridiculous. They were adamant on making everything fit within their pre-existing engine even when it doesn't fit (as I already said, bundling skills with spells in 6 is retarded)
