Even if veilguard was good I still wouldn't play it because it looks uncanny as fuck. That's what happens when you push fidelity and realism without having an artstyle that keeps you out of the uncanny valley. It's genuinely unnerving to look at.

The world is also very boring to explore. There's no fantasy to get immersed in, the maps are just giant inert containers for environmental puzzles that reward you with trash loot.

Seeing this thread made me decide to replay the Dragon Age series (not including Veilguard), and I forgot how bad DA2 is. It's such a step down from DA:O in every single way, but it's particularly egregrious how much map reusage there is. Encounter design is awful too - 90% of the time, enemies just spawn around you randomly in 3-4 waves. Just started playing the DLC for the first time, and it turns out that it's a quirky, light-hearted adventure with Felicia Day as the main character. This game is a product of its time.
