Octopath is incredibly boring and has nothing going for it apart from the soundtrack.

Too often characters or concepts felt like borrowed ideas that didn't weave into the world as naturally as they should have.The thing that bothered me the most was that I was able to softlock myself out of finishing the cheevo board and getting some of the job emblems, probably because I didn't pay full attention to either of them early enough. It felt like there was an attempt to force replayability there, with no understanding of how the bigger Jarpigs (ie. Final Fantasy) do it.
