Everyone talks about how the NWN expansions are good and how amazing of a follower Deekin is but his voice is kinda annoying and nothing about him makes me think he is really cool or awesome. Does he get better later on? I kinda preferred the dwarf rogue and the orc mage and regret bringing him over the others. Also Shadows of Undrentide is significantly less fun than the main game

OK

stopped reading there
>>
>>3689060
>really cool or awesom
people like deekin because he's cute, not cool or awesome. saying he's failing at what he's not trying to be is really odd.

>>3689060
bro i dont care

Because his post ended there, it's literally the last word

Fuck you.
>>
>>3689060
He was always annoying. Is this something you read on reddit?
>>
>>3689087
I prefer the OC myself just because of pacing.
>>
>>3689143
the OC is a classic adventure, you go from being a filthy loser laughed at by the townsfolks to fighting giants, dragons, demons, and an invading army. The companions are all really interesting. SoU coasts on HotU, where you get to see the underdark and also literally hell. Meanwhile SoU has an interesting act 1 with the small town shenanigans, but the desert intermission drags on way too long, and undrentide itself is underwhelming, only interesting part was the library
>>
>>3689213
Yeah, I haven't really played HotU because I got filtered by SoU. The plot was mostly lame. Felt I needed to play through as a Paladin too.
>>
>>3689213
>drags on
I'm surprised someone who likes the OC could even feel this sensation.
>>
>>3689213
My number one problem with the OC in the current year is dealing with all the traps and locks. I always play a martial or cleric and never have traps and locks skill, and I don't want to take the stupid rogue. I could bash everything and facetank all the traps and rest every five feet but it's just so tedious.
>>
>>3689222
The OC does drag on which is its main problem
Also OC has waifus and SoU has nothing unless you count the fat dwarf rogue
>>3689225
I did wizard and just used the spells but yeah the expansiosn were way better about not having traps and locks everywhere. It was very not fun dying to a trap because I forgot to use my spell or I didnt realize it didnt reach that far into the dungeon

>Does he get better later on?
Yeah, in HotU he can take levels of dragon disciple which boosts his power/usefulness levels significantly, and he's the only henchman that won't betray you during the climax regardless of your prior decisions
>>
>>3689310
And I accept the pulitzer price. I want to thank my family, my friends, some other people and last, but never least, anon.
>>
>>3689060
Deekin was the first plucky, friendly, goofy underdog kobold.
From then on things only got thiccer and worse.

We would be great friends

They are full of shit.
>>
>>3689060
People that played NWN SP had really low standards.
>>
>>3689060
The best companion on NWN is Enserric as a greatsword.

Pavel enjoyers report in

When compared to the default first campaign it is good. The first story is basically a themepark introduction of everything you can use for online RPing. About the only thing the first vanilla campaign offers as a cunumdrum is how many random strangers you should murder to maintain your neutrality.

I used to want to be an adventurer like you, until I took an academy to the knee.
>>

Dude it's a kobold...that's a bard! How is that not epic for the win?
>>
>>3689060
he's the millennials minsc
>>
>>3689060
Yeah SotU is kind of a slog. It's really linear too. The city of neverwinter was cool. HotU is easily better than both of them.
>>
>>3689213
>the OC is a classic adventure
and it sucks ass. it may as well just be a shitty mmorpg questline with a bunch of pointless grinding to boot.

Just bought NWN on winter sale, it's surprisingly good, good enough to play while waiting for BG3's patch 8.
What are some campaigns/modules that take place in dwarven holds/mountains? I know that there's Underdark ones, but that's only at high level, and just like any DnD adjacent thing it suffers at that point.
>>
>>3689060
They misstepped so much by not making him a thicc shortstack kobalt girl.
>>
>>3690926
I can't remember one that specifically deal with dwarven strongholds, it's mostly just sword coast with some moonsea sprinkled on the side. You can be our short lord and saviour by building your dwarf dream module though. I believe in you.
>>
>>3690954
Yes, I don't know any modules about dwarves, but there are a few cool custom dwarven tilesets.
>>
>>3690926
Only one I know is Adventures of Glebur's Mine - Chapter One. There is no second part.

You may not like it, but this is what peak brownie performance looks like.

I'm pretty sure most people found him annoying. He was popular with a small subset of annoying people who like annoying cutesy characters, and these people were vocal on the forums. Fortunately Jar Jar Binks killed this kind of character in media, though it took a while for the effect to trickle down to the gaming industry; iirc Binks actually predates Deekin by a few years which means Deekin was a living fossil of a character archetype when he debuted.

>>
>>3691970
Ah, yeah, I forgot autistic people have weird issues with sounds. My bad.

Deekin is cute precisely because his voice is ear rape.
>>
>>3691616
Aielund Saga guy didn't make that, it comes pre-packaged with any module that uses the full package of CEP haks.
>>
>>3689222
the desert part does drag on desu. I've lost interest several times before I got through it eventually
>>
>>3692781
Compared to the OC the whole SotU campaign is over in no time.

For me, it's Mischa.
