What are you hoarding?
Most of people its potions "just in case".
I for some reason hoard fucking keys, i dont know why - its just tought in back of my head i might need that one later on and wont be able to find it if ill throw it away. 3 minutes later i have over 9000 fucking keys from beggining of the game to the very last boss. Sometimes i dont even keep them in container/bag just fucking put it from place to place. Same goes with quest notes/letters/book "i might fucking need them one of these days"
How about you?

I dont hoard anything
I sellmaxx

Like to have as few things as possible in my inventory
>>
>>3689443
>What are you hoarding?
Result of clutter loot
>>
I pick up everything but I also sell shit like crazy. I also use consumables whenever I need to, especially in BG3 where powerful potions and elixirs are super easy to come by if you know what you're doing.
>>
>>3689466
Makes the game bit too easy, but ok
>>
>>3689466
i stopped checking every box and shelf around act3 when i realized its all useless trash i will not use anyway
>>
>>3689504
Well yeah, there's not that much to buy around that point anyway.
>>3689497
It just makes encounters quicker to solve, good tactics still have an effect.
>>

I've come to realize hoarding in video games is a pointless waste of time. Pick up what you use, sell when you need money. In general, most of my decisions revolve around making the game more convenient and efficient. It's optimal NOT to grind stupid shit.
>>
I had 400 medkits and 1000 banadges before I sold some

ahhh classic

what about spell scrolls? i only use magic book ones that restart every time i rest and spell scrolls "might be useful later". after some period of time i have a lot, even really strong ones, just laying in my inventory waiting for their moment that never comes.
but i have to admit i started working on myself and instead doing difficult battles 3 times im using support items

I also hoard copies of every non-shitty looking armor equal to the max party size in case I ever want to play dressup. The existence of cheat consoles helps so much because it soothes my autistic need to always be able to dress up my party as anything

I hate hoarding.
I fucking hate it.
I spcially hate how it's a must in most cRPGs.
Where the fuck is all that twenty+ pieces of armor stored? They don't even fit into a bag of holding, wich is for small items.
The only thing devs account for is weight, like I could carry an 10 meters piece of cloth just because it's light.
Dungeon Siege at least had the decency of giving us a pack mule.
>>
>>3691234
>must in most cRPGs.
Crpgs and rpg in general are stretched with filler content, like backpack management and vendor trash collecting. Furthermore instead of story and narrative, they offer sex jokes and appease to modern fetishes and the psychological issues their Internet addicted clientele has.
>>
Honestly one of the things I hate most about CRPGs is how much random shit that doesn't actually matter is just cluttering everyfuckingthing. Why do I need to have the ability to pick up a wooden bowl that's worth 1 shekel? Why do I care what Moisha Jewstein (she/they) decided to write about the world of this game in some gay little note? Did nobody at the office ever hear of the phrase "trim the fat"? It's padding, filler, pure and simple. It's a way to keep players stuck in the same area combing over everything so they don't miss the one piece of loot that actually matters amid the clutter of boring ass exposition and random cutlery.
Say what you will about JRPGs being "mash A to win" protagonistwank shonen shit, at least they know how to keep the fucking plot moving along for the most part rather than having you sort through hundreds of useless junk items looking for the MacGuffin of Ultimate Sidequest.
>>
>>3691246
>some gay little note
They are shit, right? The guys in uni who study with me loved them, so I assumed everyone does. I wouldn't mind 3 to 5 notes in a game, but there are dozens and more, what for? It's like soul reading in pillars. Just ruins the fun.
>>
In games with alchemy systems, I tend to horde ingredients. I actually do sell regular potions in games without alchemy though in order to get ahead of the cash money curve in a game.

I'm a strong believer in a very simple hierarchy of narrative design, especially when it comes to video games.
>Ideal: Do, not show. Have the player experience a narrative moment themselves.
>Good: Show, don't tell. Show me the Gods of this world, show me the demons, show me how people worship, how people do trade, where the resources are, who the rulers are
>Okay: Tell, don't show. Have some wise old adventurer sit down next to you at a bar and give you exposition. Have the narrator give you your holy quest. Have your best friend bring up shit that happened to you two out of the blue despite the main character surely already knowing everything the best friend is saying
>Bad: Here's 36 random text logs you're going to get out of order and at random points in the story that you have to read to know what the fuck is going on and most of them are just filler that doesn't matter/doesn't go anywhere. Why is everyone in this universe writing down every thought in their head, you may ask? Because that's just how it is. Hope you don't mind standing around reading a bunch of random bullshit and interrupting your gameplay constantly in the vain hope of getting something noteworthy!
>>
>>3691276
>Because that's just how it is
I understand. I will read them no matter what, even in the middle of a fight.
>>
>>3689443
Redditors still cry about le inventory management le bad?
>>
>>3691295
Idk, it's atrocious in larian games.

I sell nearly everything, and I resent any dev injecting tedious bullshit like armor collecting generic armor to sell or copping out on actual rewards by littering the landscape with a billion worthless scrolls and potions.

It detracts from most fantasy to make the main character a peddler. Just total up all the gp from the wagon loads of armor and make it one hard to get gem or something similar in a more memorable and difficult fight, even basic GP as points is better than constantly and pointless busywork.

The only items I keep have some build potential if I maybe decide to switch up fighting styles or un bench a companion or something. Which means they are unique and memorable in the first place and should be tied to the encounter you got them in.

>>3691276

Quite based.

If you're going to do a note or a book, it should also be quite rare and memorable and directly related in some way in a typical more linear RPG. It made more sense in daggerfall due to the technical limitations of the time, or such as a more life sim oriented Skyrim where you could collect them for your house library for example, but this doesn't fit in every title and usually just bores people nowadays due to what modern tech is capable of.
>>
>>3689443
Wich game is that
>>
>>3689443
>Most of people its potions "just in case".
You hoard shit because ot may be useful. I hoard shit because I don't remember/can't be bothered with UI to use it. We are not the same.
>>
>>3689443

Owlcat kind of found the solution to this on WoTR. One of your companions is also a shop that will stay with you unless you really fuck things up. I sell everything exclusively to him so i can always get it back if pull comes to shove.

I mean sure, he charges 4 times the selling price but since you can be filthy rich on that game that´s not really an issue. I still keep all named and key items though. Mostly because you never know when it may trigger something.
