Growlanser IV. Langrisser IV, V are also among my favorites. I like how these games have unique scenarios for each battle so you need to consider your strategy each time, rather than concentrating solely on killing the enemies. Unfortunately the difficulty level is rather low, but you can still make replays interesting by adding restrictions like not recruiting mercenaries in langrisser 2/4/5.
Growlanser 1 is also great. The gameplay is weaker, but the characters/story/music/etc are better.

Grow 2. I liked the general pace of the game. It's short but it doesn't FEEL like it's rushed. It also let's you take a different story paths if you'd like to just up and join the bad guys. It felt tight.

Does anyone know if there is a way to play Growlanser 1 in English, more or less? I read the game script was translated eve if the game proper wasn't, but I couldn't find more informations.

should I play the remake for langrisser 1 and 2? I kinda want an easier start since I havent played a lot of srpgs before so I was thinking of playing the remakes first and then continuing from 3

The remake is a massive downgrade for II. For 1 it's okayish but Langrisser 1 was never an outstanding game to begin with.
Langrisser III and V aren't translated yet so unless you speak Japanese you can forget those.
