Same team; same director. After vesperia they broke up internally and where absorbed, along with team destiny, into one unit. After which we got such classics as tales of zestiria

Bamco would have been better off firing all of team destiny and just letting team Symphonia continue to make games if they where having a financial crunch and needed to consolidate. They're fusion failed and the series is pretty much dead now.

Symphonia is an overrated turd. Way worse than Eternia.

Not sure. Symphonia had a hilariously bad story everyone loves to clown on, but I can't deny it also had an insanely large amount of content with a lot of variety, and a lot of it you could very easily miss.

Only RPGs I can think of are FF6, Tobira no Densetsu, and Xenoblade X, and XenoX's content may not be as varied... but these are my guilty pleasures.

I don't see at all how it rips off Mana/Seiken Densetsu. Concepts like the elements, spirits of the world, balance of power, etc. have been around longer than feudalism.

It is more likely closer to FF10 because that and Symphonia both have a journey or a pilgrimage with a chosen one and her guardians, as they are both destined to die and instead choose to challenge fate... and FF10 did this story way fucking better.

The real kicker of Symphonia's story is that all of Lloyd's idealism and morals led to nothing because they decided to makI assume this was a last minute decision, because they didn't realize that Phantasia undoes everything Lloyd tries to accomplish in Symphonia, because in Phantasia:
- Racism still exists
- Elves still live in isolation and don't allow non-Elves in their village
- Half-elves are still hated by both humans and elves
- The half-elves that left on Derris-Kharlan ended up waging wars on each other so bad that they ended up depleting their new planet's mana

The idea that Raine fucked someone is kind of retarded. I know she directly alludes to it but the game mysteriously doesn't explore this at all or when it happened.
It must have happened before they arrived in Iselia, because none of the townspeople mention anything about it at all.
But at the same time it seems unlikely that it happened before Iselia, because she was traveling around with Genis and not really off fucking. Genis never says anything about a man traveling around with them. And it surely didn't happen before they came to Sylvarant since they were sequestered.
Really there was hardly any time for this to happen and it's just supposed to be a punch line in the unicorn skit, not real character development. JRPGs do this all the time with their characters where they use them like kabuki cardboard cutouts rather than real characters.
The idea that she has an "old flame" when she's like 21 years old is one of those JRPG retard tropes where they treat anyone over 15 as middle aged.
