Turn based combat was borne from restriction, not creative decision. Game developers didn't make turn based RPGs because that's what they wanted to make, but because it was the only way to simulate in-depth strategic combat at the time. Now, with technology being what it is, we have ways to do what the Greats of yore wanted to but couldn't. By partaking in and/or creating works with this archaic system you are not only a luddite, you are ironically also an uncultured philistine with no regard for tradition. You are the worst of both worlds.

there is plenty of merit in turn based games, twitch reflexes and galaxy brain calculation are two completely different skillsetsalso, trying to control a multi character party without it being turn based or ATB is a goddamn mess. it's basically like trying to play an RTS and that's a dead genre because of how difficult it is if you're not korean
