What's the difference between a spellsword, battlemage, sorcerer, and nightblade?
One hits you when you're looking, and the other hits you when you aren't looking

>>3697933>spellswordFighting style involves swordfighting + quick spells.>battlemageNon ritual mage armed with spells fit for the battlefield. May or may not be armored>sorcererNerd studying the secrets of magic. Maybe chills near kings or has his own tower. Evil villain material.>nightbladeUnit specialized for missions not fit for a company or army. May be stealthy since it's more likely to operate alone. Uses a variety of quick spells to help with the task at hand.

>>3697933A spellsword casts spells on his sword. A battlemage engages in thrilling battles, typically against orcs. A sorcerer uses ancient draconian magic. A nightblade tends to cast forbidden spells.
>>3697964Do you seriously think this thread is off-topic or are you just a baiting retard? If it's the latter then congrats I got baited, but that also means you're a retard.
>>3697964It's based on a video game, though said video games would have given OP all the answers he ever needed. And thus, it will turn into a /tg/-lite thread.
>>3697933>spellswordFocused on melee but supported by magic.>battlemagePrimarily a mage but uses some weapons when needed>sorcererIn Arena and Dagerfall they couldn't regenerate magicka by resting and had the ability to absorb magic similar to the Atronach sign in later games.Could wear light armor and use martial weapons unlike real mages, but they were proper casters and had the highest magicka multiplier. In later games they are normal mages but use heavy armor instead of robes.>nightbladeMagic and stealth.
>>3697950Good job. I will add that sorcerer can be an inborn affinity or talent to shape magic just as much as pacts with entities to enhance magic can be a warlock. Regardless, they are both fully fledged casters.
in regards to the elder scrolls games:spellsword: uses weapons, spells, and medium/light armorbattlemage: uses weapons, spells and heavy armorsorcerer: uses only spells and heavy armornightblade: thief skills and spells
>>3697933Spellsword:Put a point in literacy and can read books.Battlemage:Did not put a point in literacy and eats books for gains.Sorcerer:Man in a dress.Nightblade:Don't know if literate. Too dark to read.

>>3697933>SpellswordMagic + melee weapons. Often very offensive in nature. Seeks to use magic and physical attacks in tandem.>BattlemageMagic + armor. Very defensive in nature. May have a weapon, but this is more of a backup option, or to fit in with a formation. >SorcererDoesn't really fit here, or mean much in a vacuum. Usually this is a very setting dependent term dealing with the details of how a person uses magic in the first place. >NightbladeUses magic for stealth, entrance, distraction, and subterfuge, before using melee to actually fight. Magic is almost purely utility, and exists mostly to facilitate other means of damage.
>>3697964These are classes that often appear in Elder Scrolls anon
>>3697933>SpellswordBasically what other anons said, wannabe Witcher who uses mainly blades and combat prowess but enhances it with magic. Think a guy with a sword and pistol but the sword does fire damage or something and the pistol is his hand casting flare.>BattlemageFrontline mage, basically imagine how normal.mages don't wear armor, and likely will be doing artillery shit or whatever in the back. This guy is heavily armored and stand near the front and supports his company.>SorcererMore of a scholar of magic, ritual shit, knowledge shit and all that.>NightbladeBasically a rogue or thief or assassin but probably also uses more magic than normal, idk
