Some story tidbits I gathered about the next Mass Effect a while ago.
The game is not a sequel to the original trilogy or MEA. Outside the opening mission, it is set after the events of MEA. Time passed that the issues with the Kett is delt with, but you will still see familiar faces from MEA. Game starts with a relay ship arriving in Andromeda. Tensions rise as the Milky Way people try to take control. Not through force, but a “We know better and have superior tech” way. Brewing of conflict starts. A mysterious foe arrives and starts attacking the Milky Way people.
Shepard is long dead, but their legacy is alive. Their post OT life is left largely open to interpretation. Most believe they either died at the end of ME3 or went completely dark.
Almost all choices you made have a cannon choice now. So Shepards gender, which Ryder you played, or lover you got with will remain your choice, among other smaller things. Bigger choices are canonized, like with the genophage or Geth/Quarian choice. Your personal choices are not forgotten and will be remembered. Like, the game will start with no genophage, though you chose not to cure it. Most dialogue will be “been cured for some time”. The codex will read, “During the great war, Commander Shepard had a chance to cure the genophage but chose not to and destroyed the cure. ‘X number of years later’ a team of scientists discovered a cure.” If you did cure it in ME3, then the codex would change to, “Shepard and (insert living scientist) cured the genophage during the great war.”
As for the ending of ME3, the prologue mission is a redo of the ending. Stuff happens, and it ends with the push of one button. The Reapers stop attacking and just start rebuilding. They give a bunch of knowledge and help the Geth become real people then all go to a snowy planet and simply die. No more Reapers. They are taking all the best parts of the endings and cram them together to make one happy ending.

That’s the extent of what I know. I do not know exactly what the plot of the game will be or who this mysterious foe is. I just know that foe is organic and not mindless like the foes of ever other Mass Effect game. So no rehashing of the Geth, Reapers, Collectors, or Kett. If I had to guess, probably the Jardaan of Andromeda. Give them some backstory to connect them to the Milky Way and the Reapers and go from there.

>Some story tidbits I gathered about the next Mass Effect a while ago.
There was a perfectly fine Mass Effect thread here >>3938636 but I suppose you wanted a more thorough discussion on ME5, so I'll humor you.
>Time passed that the issues with the Kett is delt with, but you will still see familiar faces from MEA
Haven't played Andromeda and not really interested in doing so any time soon, but weren't the Kett in the Heleus Cluster an offshoot of a larger armada that went rogue? Since the ME:A team was so eager to open that Pandora Box in attempt to start anew, they can't just slam it shut and pretend the situation was resolved off-screen.
>Almost all choices you made have a cannon choice now
I expected as much. They'll likely take the most picked choices in regards to major decisions and call it a day, so as to piss off the minimum amount of players. Personally, I think that a solid choice.
>As for the ending of ME3, the prologue mission is a redo of the ending. Stuff happens, and it ends with the push of one button... They are taking all the best parts of the endings and cram them together to make one happy ending.
A pretty bold move to recreate the worst moment of the trilogy and piss everyone off again (also, that "stuff happens" is doing a lot of heavy work). In any case, it only took them around 14 years to admit that they were retards of the highest order and that the ending needs to be reworked, so that makes me confident in their ability not to fuck it up again I'm joking of course, they'll fuck it up again

I'm curious where did you pick up those tidbits about the prologue or start of the game? I couldn't find anything myself.

I don't want Bioware to make any more games.
>>

Mass Effect is dead franchise which will be forever stuck in a damage control mode.
All the cyoa bullshit with muh choices that were hyped up since ME1 announcement never paid off and if the codex "acknowledgement" you described is true that it feels like a half-assed consolation prize.
Reapers were completely wasted and they will never catch that lightning in a bottle again. Andromeda had some shitty villain of the week aliens and so will ME5. Also whatever the fuck ME1 tried to cook about organics vs synthetics with AI paranoia caused by Geth uprising followed by Reapers invasion just fizzled out leaving the setting pretty bland.
It just gets worse and worse with each new entry. Bioware going bankrupt after ME1 would've been the best outcome for everyone.

What's the story of mea? Some safe boats went to andromeda and the n7 star died which delayed the arrival of the rookie child by 30 years. Colonisation has started and why is communication with cat bunny aliens possible and who's the stereotype villain?
>>
>>3976554
Realistically, what should me 2 and 3 be about? Imo 2 was OK, but 3 ruined the reapers for good.
>>
My main Andromeda disappointment was that in a new galaxy we only met 2 new species of alien. One a mindless bullet sponge and the other a discarded Star Wars concept. Honestly doesn't bode well a sequel is continuing from there but it might prove us all wrong.

Yeah, this shit is going to tongue more ass than a turk on a pilgrimage

Sounds like a load of LARP.

What the fuck is a 'relay ship'? Andromeda takes place 600 years after ME3, and that's because it took the Arks 600 years of intergalactic travel to get there. There aren't any relays in Andromeda that we know of, and it wouldn't really be within the Reaper mission parameters to wander off and build some secret ones in foreign galaxies.

Even if this point, 600 years later in the Milky Way, they develop some kind of wormhole drive or use augmented Reaper tech to instantly launch themselves faster than light into galaxies without a gateway, Liara still looks way too young even for an Asari in the trailers and she wouldn't be digging up Shepherd's N7 helmet in Andromeda so it doesn't make sense to tease her character and that in a game that's all about Andromeda.
>>
>>3977109
Also they named it "ME:Andromeda" and not "ME:4" for a reason, so if that was the theme of ME5 it would probably just be called 'Andromeda 2'.

Maybe you'll be delighted to hear the lead artist returns from the og trilogy. We'll see how it works out.
