By the will of Kou Shibusawa, the latest Koei thread begins anew!
>>
>>1711176
An RPG style Water Margin remake would be kino.
>>
>playing as the Ashikaga on IT
>get both of the weaker clans' castles to the west
>the Honganji march to Kyoto as soon as this happens

I really should have planned this better
Also, to the anon who stopped watching the Mori NHK drama, in which episode did you drop it?
I have 3 episodes left and there is at least some tension and stuff going on, not at the same level of Itsukushima though
>>
>>1711493
After Itsukushima and Takamoto's seething, yet I did should on towards Terumoto's introduction and the very end of the series. I have to say, the final episodes were good. A fitting conclusion to Motonari's life but it is a bit bittersweet given that after Takamoto, it all went south during Terumoto's reign.
>>
I've decided to ditch the Date and start over as the Mori.

I'm currently allied with the Uragami and Ryuzoji and dominated the Chugoku region and almost conquered Shikoku by trashing the Miyoshi and devouring the Chosokabe. Also, Archer tech is a bit underrated given how OP musket tech is.

Aside from consolidating my gains and focusing on researching techs, I'm pondering on whether I should attack the Uesugi by sea by attacking the castle at Hokkaido.
>>
>>1711448
Suikoden series?
>>
>>1711602
Has very little to do with it's namesake. I like it though.
>>
New thread? That's cool.

I tried playing as He-Jin in the Yellow Turban start in Rottk14, expecting not to like the game as much when most of the map is empty. As it turns out however, I was correct. Seriously annoying to just have the Yellow Turbans take over most of the map with no effort. Might try again in the future, try to rush down south to stop the Yellow Turbans. For now however, I'll probably play some more Awakening first.
>>
>>1711732
Why not create some custom forces?
>>
>>1711732
A lot of people really like 14, but I personally hate the combat system. While I do like certain aspects of it - the importance of formations, being able to disrupt supply lines, making use of terrain and structures - I feel like it's all seriously impaired by the turn-based/pre-programmed (can't think of a succinct descriptor for Frozen Synapse-styled "have everyone queue their own actions and watch it all unfold simultaneously") combat. On account of how big the map is and how many tiles there are, structures like traps or towers feel underpowered because enemy formations can just move around them unless you spam them everywhere (which I don't believe is even viable on account of the cap on how many you can throw down per territory). Then again, I'm also a brainlet whose favorite games (as far as combat mechanics go at least) are ROTK13 and NA Awakening (the latter I feel being a refinement of the more freeform ROTK13 and SOI combat maps, mixing the best of those games with IT's limited movement routes).
>>
>>1711869
And with that being said, I'll now reinstall 14 to give it another fair go.
>>
>>1711721
Done.

Once the alliance with the Ryuzoji was done, they decided to attack me and I respond in kind by prematuraly beginning the invasion of Kyushu.

Thanks to AI being content to dump all their forces into one spot, I was able to quickly capture one of their ports and proceed to attack of their lightly manned castles. The Ryuzoji soon gathered all their forces to protect the castle, leading to a long and drawn out battle which I barely won and gained their almost all their manpower due to all those injured troops.

Then I decide to perform a blitzkreig operation to simultanously attack all of their castles. By the time a coalition was formed against me (The Oda, the Miyoshi, the Ikko and the rest of the Kyushu daimyos) it was all too late and I'm busy devouring the Otomo, attacking the last Kyushu daimyo with a castle while the Shimazu and the Ryuzoji are stuck in ports and forts.

Kikkawa Motoharu MVP.
>>
Feel like playing some NA. Is awakening worth checking out or should i just reinstall sphere?
>>
How do I into sphere of influence?
>>
>>1711880
A bold strategy
>>
>>1711910
Rise to Power, Iron Triangle and Tendou are the MVPs
>>
>>1711880
A bit late but also Motonari died before the invasion of Kyushu began so his son Takamoto is now the heir and I'm surprised he's outlived his father considering his early death irl ,(was it because Koei went with the suspected poisoning angle?)

Was he really that good irl? He's basically a jack-of-all-trades in stats (all 70s) while his son Terumoto is just garbage except his average POL stat.

Bandit kings was so kino, bros. When will koei make another one?
On a different note, Nobunaga's Ambition Awakening is on sale. How does it compare to Sphere of Influence? Is it worth getting?
>>
>>1712651
As someone else said it here before, Awakening is strange in that it feels like an officer game but you can't actually play an officer. There's a big emphasis on delegation. Economic system is rather boring and barebones, and there were some pretty big issues with AI diplomacy at release (not sure if that was fixed or not), but otherwise it's a really solid game. Somewhat too, playing Oda was rather challenging for once. Probably the best thing out of recent Koei fare.
The music was really disappointing though.
>>
>>1712762
That's a bit of a shame, I was open to the delegation part of it but ROTK 14 felt very barebones with so much automation. I kind of miss playing these games, I really liked Iron Triangle and the story aspects of SoI I really enjoyed. One thing I really liked is that you could just change the music for music from previous games, could solve the issue you mentioned.

Sometimes it's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Honestly though I've found myself revisiting games I bought ages ago and had specific gripes with, only to really appreciate it later with a different perspective.

Like RoTK, as an example, I used to be obsessed with creating historical outcomes from early starts, but now I've grown to love the dynamic bullshit that can happen when the game does its own thing, and if I really want a historical situation I just pick that start date instead of slavishly trying to recreate history.

For example, in 13 I had a Liao Hua yellow turban game where I had originally planned to go patriot after the YT fell, but instead managed to dunk on He Jin, take Luoyang and destroy the Han dynasty (not nearly as interesting of an event as it sounds).

I kept on conquering, put the YT in a dominant position against Liu Yan, Sun Jian, and Gongsun Zan, while also siphoning money away in case I saw a good chance to revolt and take the crown for myself.

Got caught siphoning and lost the debate to defend my actions, which permanently kicks you out of the force. joined Dong Zhou for a while in a losing battle against the YT juggernaut I had built, and then decided to use my accumulated cash to speed-run an Executioner victory instead killing YT officials and generals to slow down their rate of expansion.

I also dipped into Merchant temporarily to get better dueling items and sell off my spare specialties I had accumulated prior for more execution cash.

Does anyone have tips to deal with the Takeda and Uesugi on IT?
I'm trying a Satomi run, got allied with the Satake and attacked the Hojo, the instant they were beaten both Shingen and Kenshin came to beat my ass, even if I ally with them they blob up too fast
For some reason they NEVER fight between them too

Speaking of which, has anyone watched the NHK Drama about Shingen? I don't know if to watch his or Nobunaga's
>>
>>1718140
Guns are the greatest equalizer to be introduced. Worked for me in Tendou, can't imagine it not working in Iron Triangle. Though the Satomi aren't known to have good gun commanders iirc, so get the Satake first, unfortunately.

I have yet to watch Shingen's drama, but I did watch Kansuke's, which also heavily involves him (really good Shingen, pragmatic as fuck, but a really horrible Kenshin, not because of the actor, but because of the writing)
Nobunaga's drama is mixed for me. Stopped after Mino and no plans to go back. The magic subplot is just bad.

Speaking of which, might do another Hideyoshi run.
>>
>>1718606
Yep. Comrades can die in battle like normal, and they can still die in events so long as the conditions of the event aren't broken.

So of course he'll need to be in Dong Zhuos force in order for the event to trigger. Don't think there are other specific requirements.

Your big issue is probably going to be the YT subjugation event firing correctly unless you're playing on historical force trend (which is boring, and even then things can break)
>>
>>1718903
I've noticed that being in Dong Zhuos faction seems to cause issues with the assassination event.

Did you get the burning of luoyang too? It's required for the assassinaton event in 13 because it's the bridge too far for Wang Yun that makes him start the plot.

For what it's worth, Dong Zhuo staying alive tends to counter-balance the eventual Cao Cao blob, although if you're in Dongs force its a little on the easy side. I had a Dong Bai game where the assassination event didn't happen, and even on hard we rolled the rest of China in a decade and a half.

>>1721651
So I decided to come back to NA after a couple years away.
Picked up Ascension and Taishi on a sale. Gonna ramble some thoughts about it.

> Ascension
I think it's really cool that they're attempting to model feudalism. Both series have had a real issue with realms being way too stable and retainers not having a way to exercise pressure on rulers.

Unfortunately that's where my praise ends. Combat is just as shit as in Sphere, Domestics somehow became way more tedious, and there's a lot of funkiness like the game expecting you to do a million dull 1 vs 1s between castle assaults, and those 1 vs 1s exist in a pocket dimension where the passage of time and supply use no longer applies.

> Taishi
Overall much better than ascension. Battles feel great, although I wish theres was still a passage of time/supply management side to battles, it's a series staple for a reason.

Province development kind of sucks. There's only a couple buildings worth making but a ton of province to make them in, and if I'm just gonna spam reservoirs and forges on every province then the game should do a better job of automating that process.

The agriculture management side is cool, although it's not actually super interactive. I found myself always wanting to do land clearance and there didn't seem to be any way to expedite the process with cash or high stat officers.

Policy mana as a tech tree is a very clever way of making good officers provide good tech bonuses.

As a niche complaint, officers almost never seem to die in battle in both games, which sort of makes the massive roster meaningless. Guys dying at awkward times is fun emergent gameplay. I remember back in Lord of Darkness, every time you took musket fire there was a tiny percent chance of instant death, so once your army got big, you ended up leading with some above average guys to eat the first muskets shot before you closed in with your best officers to secure kills.
>>
not koei but could have been a koei game

playing some Tenchi wo Kurau. Great game with lots of romhacks. Too bad the manga isn't translated and games seem more famous.
>>
>>1722316
I could fuck with a Taishi Ci game in 13.

What should my goals be? Which faction should I join? Emperor Kong Rong sounds like suffering but it could be good.
>>
>>1722438
Pretty cool that Capcom made a roleplaying game as they don't delve to frequently into the genre.
>>
>>1724673
In Ascension, is there any way to get more than 15 districts. I could plop down more castles I guess, but I'd love to just expand the one I have instead of making more and trying to grow their population from scratch.
>>
Is my shitty Ryzen 3 1st generation processor good enough for Awakening?
>>
OK, after a couple weeks I beat my first awakening campaign as the oda. I quite enjoyed it. I like the feudalism simulation and officer management. There are also a ton of events, perhaps too many. Right now I split my realm in two, giving one half to Mitsuhide and the other half to hideyoshi so that they can conquer north and south and give me the supremacy win. I'll probably play Takeda next. I want to do Akechi in 1582 but I don't think I'm skilled enough to do it just yet.
>>
After spending days playing Rise to Power, I'm conflicted on whether this or Iron Triangle is the best Nobunaga game.

The war gameplay is fun as hell even if the unit pathfinding is messy for an RTS.

>Play on Normal mode.
>Get bored because I'm steamrolling as the Oda.

>Play on Hard Mode.
>Neighbors constantly attack me and they become more competent on the battlefield, especially with the Tokugawa ripping my army to pieces.

>>
>>1726462
I mean...unfortunately we never got most Nobunaga games so it's hard to say which is the best one.
>>
>>1726667
I just mute the emulator and run it at 150% speed. It's got great music but you can always just listen to the music off YouTube or as mp3s or whatever.

>>1726462
Rise to Power is a really odd one. You can't deploy a ton of officers, nor can officers lead many troops, so you're often on parity of forces in battles. Cool, an anti-snowball mechanic.

Problem is, you have to play an RTS using a controller, which is suffering. And a pretty low time to kill RTS at that.

Domestics are pretty odd too, but they hardly matter past the early game because of the above mentioned force limits meaning you cant mobilize a large resource excess even if you have one.

Culture and Foreign are pretty useless as I remember. They buff your defenses, wow.

Also I'm pretty sure that any alliance attempt with the Tokugawa should trigger the kiyosu alliance event, but you do have to trigger it yourself by suggesting the alliance.
>>
>>1726407
>While I cleared the game before Honnoji, I was on track to actually getting such a major event despite starting all the way back at Okehazama.
I wasn't so fortunate lol, in my campaign honno ji actually happened and my realm completely split off. I had to reload a save, but it's great that it happened since you can pretty much never get this progression in the other games.
The events have some jank, though. I got the battle of Tedorigawa while I was fighting Nagamasa and the Asakura, so many years before it was supposed to take place. Also the shogun never really betrayed me, but events pretended that I had defeated him and exiled him while he was my ally still seating at the capital. Continuity was funky,

>>
How do you properly expand in Rise to Power?

If I expand too fast, I'll be overexpanding to point I'll have too few officers and funds to properly defend while building up too much means powerful factions like the Takeda/Uesugi/Otomo will blob like hell and overwhelm me.
>>
>>1734625
Choose the Oda. Build up your infantry and gunners.
Do the Imagawa event and ally with Tokugawa
Take out Dosan Saito after all of that

i'm getting into Sphere of Influence for the first time and though i am enjoying the game quite a bit i am confused why you can't combine armies from multiple castles into one unit
i just conquered a province that has 5 or so small castles that provide 500ish troops each. is this province always just going to be worse than an "equivalent" province with 1 fortress that provides 2500 troops? why can't i order my supposedly loyal retainers to stand next to each other while besieging a castle or fighting an enemy instead of forming a single file line at 5km intervals on the road to their target?
is there a way to move population or troops from one castle to another?
>>
>>1734725
>why you can't combine armies from multiple castles into one unit
think of each castle as having its own army, you can't really form into an actual force, you just have to make do with the decentralized system the game uses. try using multiple roads at once, that will allow you to attack from multiple angles. two to three armies can only attack when they're on the same road, which makes holding chokepoints worth it in the game. mountain roads limit the amount if troops further, so watch out for that.
>is this province always just going to be worse than an "equivalent" province with 1 fortress that provides 2500 troops?
no, either they'll grow later on the game due to higher population, or you could enact a policy that increases fortress troops. take into account the gold and food each castle in a province makes, rather than the troops they provide. personally, I would destroy them to remove the tedious micro and focus on good old castle gameplay or automate the fortresses to the ai so there's an extra resource base.
>>
>Attack a castle in Rise to Power.
>Significantly outnumber the enemy.
>Enemy has a 800-man musket unit hiding in the castle.
>Castle is well developed that you can only go through the gate.
>Enemy musket destroys my army without breaking through the gate because he keeps somehow manages to proc confuse that stops my army dead.
>>
>>1736898
yeah the RTS stuff in rise can be pretty weak.
If you get big enough you'll get cannons.

In the meantime consider a) sending less troops to get the AI to be more aggressive and b) mulch his entire castle town, you'll either force him to fight or gimp him enough to let you focus attention elsewhere.
>>
They talking shit about Nobunaga in/vr/ right now. Someone called him a chud.
>>
>>1739339
I didn't, in the earliest scenario the alliance hadn't happened yet and I didn't bother to do diplomacy with them because I thought I'd be safe until the alliance event triggered. I was wrong lol. This time around I kept him in my good graces. They're still the strongest clan but I can focus on killing kenshin now. I feel like the Takeda are better suited for the 1560 start. Starting as early as possible requires you to sit on your ass a lot if you want to see all events.

I think it's actually the worst of the officer play games. The only unique thing 10 has going for it is being able to put together a custom unit as a free officer and partycrash battles, and there's basically no room for progression in that.

Many of the things 10 tries to do, 13 went on to do better, with the notable exception of INT plots existing in battle and the duel/debate mini games having some depth to them.

In most ways it's a pretty big downgrade from 7 and 8. Many of the skills are straight up worthless on the player character (including all domestics), your attributes don't increase through use and training via tutor is inefficient, so in practice the only officers worth playing are the already good ones.
>>
>>1767227
so its better to play 7 or 8?
>>
>>1767570
Well, try them all out if you want, form your own opinion. Emulation is free after all.

Some people love the battles in 10, I find the AI to be retarded and the combat to be rock paper scissors hell.

13 is probably the most approachable of the officer play games if you want to try them out.

Also 8 is getting a remake sometime this year. Don't know if that changes the arithmetic for you one way or another.
>>
Ok, it's time to play NA again (the last one), should I play as a custom character, the Imagawa, Ashikaga (with Yoshiteru not his faggot brother), Saito or Nanbu? I never played as the Chosokabe, maybe they will be fun too

I've been playing Awakening for a few hours and I dunno, it just hasn't clicked for me yet compared to SoI/ascension. I think I prefer the billions of castles in SoI with their own forces over the mega castles with surrounding counties. I'm not some min-maxxer but in SoI I felt that I knew what to do in order to achieve my goals while I'm bumbling around in Awakening and winning through sheer numbers/quality officers rather than good decision making.

The Steam version has Power Up Kit expansion included. Off the top of my head, the added things are

>new scenarios
>new editor function
>foreign trade and foreign techs
>tribes that occupy where used to be empty lands that you can build fortresses on
The added tribes are especially game-changing/annoying. Like, if an enemy faction has control of a ninja tribe, their tactic success rate would sky rocket so much that you units will be confused and forced back to their bases every other day.

So I'm playing awakening and I have a few questions
1-Should I build more than one stable/shooting gallery?
2-how can i make other castles build both commons and market? I know you can use castle town but they only build one of the two not both
3-what's the best way to build a castle? I usually build a trading town, irrigation, rice and training or supply depending of what I want. Also if i can build one of the special buildings I prioritize that
>>
>>1780592
>1-Should I build more than one stable/shooting gallery?
In different castles, yeah. I don't think you build multiples in one castle, but if you can, they don't stack.

>2-how can i make other castles build both commons and market? I know you can use castle town but they only build one of the two not both
You can change overseer policy so they can build one, then proceed to build the other one, but I think that's a rather ineffective way to do it. It's best to just let the castles focus on Commons so you can get more troops to fight, then when you push the front line castles forward quite a bit, you can change the policy of castles in the back to focus on Markets to give you money.

>3-what's the best way to build a castle? I usually build a trading town, irrigation, rice and training or supply depending of what I want.
In my experience, it's best to focus on agriculture early on so can get troops and expand fast. Surplus supplies can be sold into quick cash anyway. Then after you have secured a good enough base ground, delegate the castles in the back to market places to keep the money flowing in, turn every new castle you capture into supply bases so you can march units from the strong castles to the front line. When you've expand the front line to where the range of the main castle can't reach, change the main castle to slowly reach the frontline and build the castles' agriculture to get the needed troops again.

>>1780605
>they don't stack
Good to know, I always focus first on making money but it's a good advice to use the focus on agriculture.
Now I'm at the point where I don't have enough officers to make lords or land holders, I don't want to put a guy with shitty stats as lord, it always end up happening to me in all NA/ROTK games, getting new castle is a hassle because I don't know who to put there and I don't want to leave only one guy in a castle

Thank you Kou Shibusawa and KOEI for making treasures like Genghis Khan II and Uncharted Waters. Some of my favorite games of all time which I have fond memories of getting cozy in my bedroom on rainy or cold nights to enjoy.

I'm playing Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness as Ashikaga Yoshiteru and when I'm done I might play Inindo: Way of the Ninja.
>>
>>1785706
I've always had a soft spot for Ashikaga starts, both Shogunate and Kanto branches. There's something really satisfying about tardwrangling back to the top without having events or overpowered officers doing all of your heavy lifting. It does suck to just get completely cucked by events on the other hand, like losing Nijo castle as Yoshiteru with no way of avoiding it.
>>
>>1785713
I too enjoy playing as the Ashikaga.
Yoshiteru seemed to be a very honorable man and reading his story, I feel he'd have been a much better ruler for Japan than many of the contenders during the Warring States era, after the fall of the Ashikaga.
Yoshiaki was a faggot though.

Also, what the hell happened to Yoshiteru's son Yoshihide? Some sources say he was killed on the orders of Nobunaga upon installing Yoshiaki as his puppet, others sources say he fled somewhere innawoods far away and lived the rest of his life in peace under a fake identity.

At least Sengoku Hime's keeping me busy.

Were there any Ashikaga NHK dramas besides the TBS one or the adaptation of the Ashikaga Takauji novel by Eiji Yoshikawa? To be fair, Yoshiteru died young at 30 or 40 something but he was already a shogun as an 11 year old iirc, there's room for expression in what would have happened during his formative years and his diplomatic actions as well as his dealings with the Miyoshi.

A few, most of them being involved with a lot of the conflicts between Wei and Wu fiction doesn't cover as much. Also, while not a general, Zhang Zhao getting overshadowed is weird to me considering he was frankly probably as fundamental to the state of Wu as any of it's strategists.

Probably the biggest surprise to me though was Zhang Xiu. Guy tends to be overshadowed by Jia Xu, but he was a very talented general that did a surprising amount of work under Cao Cao before his rather sudden death.

>>1786757
Not sure if he really counts considering Xiang Yu is a very famous character in folklore. Probably more liked than Liu Bang, who was also kind of awesome in his own way.

It's a shame he'll probably never do anything in Dynasty warriors because they basically gave his job to Zhang Liao.

I use dramacool for a lot of asian stuff. Three Kingdoms 2010 you can watch in HD on youtube. Personally I own it physically. Currently watching the 1994 Three Kingdoms (superior to 2010 imo, everything except Cao Cao actor just because the 2010 guy is so freaking good. The 1994 guy is also very very good.) I own the 1994 phsyically also, the Asian one has a shitt English sub, but it does the job. It is currently being fansubbed and released over at www.nyaa.si and this sub is far far better than the one in the asian physical release.

Here's Advisors Alliance that someone mentioned earlier. Pretty ok show, not as good as Three Kingdoms: https://dramacool.city/movie/the-advisors-alliance-2017-wajrwdau/?ep=1

Here's another very good show called Qianglong Dynasty. Set in the 1800s I think, about the Emperor and one of his most talented advisors rising through the ranks:
https://dramacool.city/movie/qianlong-dynasty-hc7rhaoc/?ep=1

A sidenote; The number one film in China last year was a Taiwanese film called; The pig, the snake and the pigeon. I recommend this film although it is not historical. It's just such an amazing movie that will go under the radar of so many people.

First game of Sphere of Influence finished. Again, played as Oda in Okehazama. Not sure if I like it as much as Awakening, feels a bit more rough in certain places, but I still do quite enjoy it.

Mission system especially was a lot of fun (Some annoyance with vassalization not counting as conquest aside). Generally held out pretty well and reliably, manage to get as far as Nagashino without much issue (Though it was funny how early Shingen died). Ultimately failed to take out the Mori in time so I decided to just end it with a war ban. Which, to my surprise, didn't even give me a bad ending.

Oh they already are, we're neighboors, they stopped my expansion into Echigo.
But I did kill the small clans around Nijo like the Akai, takeda, Isshiki and I also got a foothold in chugoku by absorbing the Yamana and making the amago my vassals (the mori were very agressive and now control almost all Chugoku, the Amago only had one castle).
I'm waiting for the viper to die before attacking the Saito, that way I don't have to worry about Nobunaga and I started to attack the Rokkaku, Soteki is already sick and he doesn't have much time left. Let's made this his last conquest

Dosan usually dies in late 1550s early 1560s, unless you play with extended lifespans.
I hope you can defend on a wide front, Mori and Uesugi can give you a hard time if left unattended. Guess you could secure Kinai and push East towards Koshinetsu (Shinano, Kai) and Tokaido for the major clans.

>>1792847
Story doesn't exist in Koei games most of the time, unless it's warriors or Legend games.
I'd say you could try to play it if you're really interested in the time period, know the major figures, events, and look up guides online to get a grasp on the mechanics.

Side note, I've yet to see the implementation of the concept of kokudaka in Nobunaga's Ambition besides the measure of actual food production. Sengoku Hime (or Tenka Touitsu for that matter) uses the concept to limit the player's capacity to raise troops, is one of the win conditions, and influences diplomatic and intrigue actions, whereas in Nobunaga's Ambition, koku can be basically your rations for your troops, and how long your troops can stay in the field. Arguably it is an Edo or Toyotomi period thing but I feel like the limitations of food production and how it ties with actual military strength was a simple concept done right despite the buggy and messy nature of Systemsoft games. It actually made me appreciate provinces and regions more. I also like that money is constantly used when marching troops, sieging castles, etc. Money is usually tech, diplo, military, and political expenses in Nobunaga's Ambition, making it basically worthless by late game. Forgive my ranting.
>>
What's the most complex Koei strategy game? Not in term of difficulty but more like overall things to manage like supplies, food, buildings etc.
>>
>>1793286
I'd say NA: Ascension. But not because the game is actually THAT complex, it just has the mechanics of 2 seperate games mashed into each other.
>>
>>1793449
Should I get Ascension or just the base sphere of influence?
>>
>>1793536
Ascension is worth a playful, if only because the Osaka scenario is really good, but otherwise base SoI is the overall better game. Ascension is harmed by the fact that it has mechanics of officer play shoehorned into a faction play, thus making a lot of things don't mesh well with each other, and the AI being unable to make use of officer mechanics.

Quick question, does the PS2 versions of ROTK games include the puk?
I want to play the older titles but they're not translated on Steam except for 10 and 11 so my only other option is emulating.
>>
>>1797410
nope
>>
>>1797410
sadly no and the pcsx2 emulator has some issues emulating 7 and 8 properly (8's better than 7 for sure). 10 plays ok but I think it also had some problems I cant remember. Its been awhile since ive played them. 7 was really bad with graphics emulation at times but was still playable.

>>1797450
>7 was really bad with graphics emulation at times but was still playable.
I've played it last year and I'm pretty sure the graphics issue is fixed by playing one of the older PCSX2 versions and IIRC it finally got addressed in one of the nightly builds a while ago.

Been playing this. Overall pretty enjoyable, the acting and story is very much a "so bad it's good" kind of thing. Very over the top with genderbent officers, Ma Chao surf riding a horse, crazy outfits and ninjas being shot over city walls.

Overall nice as a casual strategy game. Simplified from the first game which is too bad but still fun.

Liu Bei is depicted as only caring about Diao Chan. At one point Zhao Yun is like "I will support Liu Bei because he's part of the imperial line" and then Liu Bei is like "What me? Haha no way" (lol) while Cao Cao is a bit of a dick but is also a sympathetic war orphan who wants to restore peace.
>>
>>1800131
This is pretty much the same for all of the officer-play ROTKs except for XIII (which is just piss easy instead), no? They didn't really have much of an idea on how to fill up the officer gameplay besides the endless grinding and the only more interesting stages being when they just make you a mini-ruler.

Liu Bei and Cao Cao also have multiple girls pinning for them. Liu Bei has Diao Chan but Sun Li (SSX) also likes him and Mei Sanniang is based on one of his wives.

And then Cao Cao has a bratty Himiko character who is obsessed with him and also a genderbent Xun Yu who he ends up with I think. And Yu Jin is a big queer.

Moved on to Kessen 3 for now and I gotta say it's an excellent game. Lots of levels, characters and customization and like how selecting different unites for different types of maps.

Of the available koei games in English on ps4/5, which is the best to fully get into 3K as a beginner? Either strat or musou works
I’m assuming either dw8xl or rotk13?
I’ve never played a koei strat or musou before
>>
>>1808258
Dw 7 is the best, actually. Followed by Rottk13.

Mostly because both have fairly good story modes that cover most of the Three Kingdom story.
>>
>>1808283
I see 7 is on ps plus streaming, might give it a try but would definitely prefer something downloadable like 8 or tk13

>>
>>1808291
8 Isn't a bad place to start. I just find the story not as fun as 7 and the hypothetical endings, which are fun, don't hit as much if you aren't familiar with the story. Rottk 13 could also work, but obviously it's a strategy game not a Musou game.

Do you guys have any tips for playing Lu Bu in romance 4? Everyone arround me hates me is that normal or just bad luck?
>>
>>1809939
unless diplo relations is randomly generated, it's normal.
>>
>>1809939
Yes 4 does have historical starting diplo relations like that.

Also all relations downgrade over time unless you are in a treaty relationship (which also have to be renewed periodically)

So in practice you have to put a lot of resources and officer time to maintaining diplomacy, so pick your friends carefully.

I've not played Lu Bu in that game, but if I did, I might consider using the Exile command and getting out of the north eastern thunderdome.
Alternatively just turtle up in your starting cities so that the AI doesn't think you're a juicy target.
>>
Me and my buddy Nobunaga busy spliting the land for ourselves.

I've recently conquered the Hojo, allied with the Takeda, gained the Mikawa Spirit Tech and now I'm fighting the Uesugi and their allies.

I've also appreciating the archer tech when almost everyone who played this prefers muskets.

It is true musket are the most powerful and archer skills are lame but archer tech turns bows into machine guns with no cost and turrets are fast and cost effect while muskets need money and blacksmiths and their towers take too long to build.
>>
>>1805418
>>
>>1811003
To be fair, when you're desperate for ranged units, archers are relatively cheap. Don't know if they have unit aptitudes in that game, but I'd reckon there are many archers (generals) early game compared to late game where it makes sense to use archers alongside infantry.
What's the effect of Tokugawa's special tech in that game?
>>
>>1811569
Units are immune to confusion and routing.

It's literally the most OP tech in the game given how many ways your units can be confused.
>>
>>1811655
>Honda Tadakatsu and Sakai Tadasugu are Tokugawa's finest and have massive armies.
>Kenshin is literally holding own and Rampage still hurts like hell even with Plate Armor tech.

Good thing his army has a relatively low INT (73) while Honda's army has 101 so confuse actually works.

>Destroyed the Takeda and about to recruit their many officers.

How did you deal with finding officers to govern countries and not rebel in a few turns?

It's sad how the Europeans are given the worst special unit in the game. Knights cost as much as a Mongol but deals shitty damage and have to rely on a gimmicky charge mechanic.

And I've finally won. Although it's mostly due to the Otomo offering an alliance and once I've forced the Oda to surrender, the game declares me having won since there's no hostile clans left.

I'm honestly going to recommend the Tiger vs Dragon scenario since the Takeda/Uesugi blob is further delayed by the Hojo being much stronger.

I can see why I was confused when I started playing Sphere of Influence after initially playing a cracked copy of Ascension. And I thought SoI's simple mechanics were bad, Ascension''s domestic features is much more convoluted instead of being more in-depth. Who thought adding more districts to castles was a good idea?? I have a very soft spot for IX. Chaining officers' Tactics to deal massive damage is incredibly fun, the game being rather dependent on RNG also makes for some really funny unexpected scenario. Are the Koei IOS ports good for series introductions? They have Ro3K 2 and I'm guessing the first Nobunaga? I know you can emulate but I'd be fine buying one/both of these if they're solid and a good way to get into the Koei strats
>>
>>1825582
I saw a friend played one of the ports during breaks once. It seems like it's based on the early NES game, but with the UI and smoothness of a phone game. Basically it has the fundamental of the series, build facilities, raise troops, invade and defend and stuff, but without the jank of the NES, so yeah, it's somewhat a good way to get into Koei strats. This was very difficult. Even on normal, it took me 3 tries to get this far. First attempt was ruined when Wu sniped Jingling post Split event and I lost Xinye Though, to be honest, I kind of regret abandoning the game when I did because I was in the process of taking over South Jing and might have been able to turn it again. Second attempt failed even earlier, Zhang Fei got imprisoned and that broke the event chains to get Zhuge Liang and Split Jing.

Next up: South Jing.

Looks good. I just hope the system is kind of fast. PS2 RoTTK8's combat isn't bad, but it's pretty slow and gets tiresome quickly as a result. Same issue I have with 7.
>>
>>1711176
Which is better between DW8E and DW9E? hearing a lot of conflicting opinions and unfortunately can't get 7 on PC
>>
>>1831095
In 7 and 8 you just fight a battle and then get the province, there's no switching back to the domestic phase in between so I kind of prefer it.
>>
>>1831179
Both are bad in their own ways, but personally I think DW8E is better, in part because DW8 is better than DW9 and actually kinda add something new to the series (the battle stratagems and the children system) while DW9E is just sandbox DW9 and no open world.
>>
>>1832020
That's fair. I just find the battles too slow for the amount of depth they have. I guess 14 isn't THAT different, though if they actually allowed you to pick tactics for every officer it would be a pretty deep system, but somehow that game just works better for me. Same for 11 and 9(Haven't played enough of 10 to judge yet).
>>
>>1832186
Battles can feel slow but one advantage with the old system is that you can autoresolve trivial battles.

I just want a good DWE game anons.
One that didn't get half the mechanics from DW cut out just to bring a map. One that doesn't have unfinished stuff like "You can sell the gems for 0$, it's the only thing you can sell", or "We have a house for you to decorate, you'll never have a reason to go ther in game, nor is there anything left from the DW game to interact with there, but you can still decorate it just the same" or "There are (some) incredible maps and weapons ported over from DW, for you to play, shame that all generic officers have same 5 generic ones, and most of the maps you can only play in skirmish mode, as there is no possibility to play them on the actual map "conquest". "
FUCK ME, I don't even "need" a DWE game, just add a custom officer mode into the XL release, where there is a hero mode and skirmish/custom battle is actually fucking working.
I'm sad anons, the game I want is on the intersection of the games Koei wants to make.

The reason why the Genghis Khan series had low sales when compared to Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga and was discountined.

>The term "historical trilogy" was used more often than "Nobunaga's Ambition" and "Sangokushi", especially when the "Blue Wolf and White Mare" series was released, but this series was one step behind the other two in terms of sales performance because the material was not popular.

>The "History Trilogy" is no longer used. In later years, Yoichi Erikawa, the president of the company, commented on the reason for the poor sales performance of the series, saying that the series was "a memorable work that I also like" but that "it was the image of the character Genghis Khan (omitted)...The image of Genghis Khan that Western people had was 'evil,'" and "the image of Genghis Khan in a historical simulation game was not a good one. The series made us realize that in a simulation game, sales are greatly affected by the recognition and popularity of the character".

Given how the 3rd game (GK2 in the west) was a success and loved by the critics, I think he meant to say that the Asian audience considered Genghis as the bad guy so the game sold less.

IMO DW6 is still the best DW game in terms of depicting a proper battlefield where units are independently moving around and fulfilling objectives, instead of everything being heavily scripted. Yeah, you the player still need to go around and do most of the heavy lifting, but as long as it's not a stage where your side is going to get fucked like Yiling Shu, your allies can hold out pretty well with minimal player intervention.
>>
>>1842809
DW 6 had it's flaws, but it has bar none the best stages of the franchise. It feels like they tried to recapture whatever they were going with for DW 2 and 3 but now they actually had the hardware to make it possible.

Improve the combat and make soldiers actually somewhat of a threat and you would have the best DW game bar none.

>very unique and fun combat system where you customize your units with the right troop type and tactics, and set them up at the right places on the map so everyone can chain their tactics together to deal fuck huge damage. Though as a result, some fights can feel a little bit of a slog because of all the setting up
>writing is not exactly good but has some rather out there hypothetical scenarios. ie: Xiahou Dun just fucking rebel and takes away half of Cao Cao's officers because he pushed his conquest too fast and didn't allow the men to take a break.
It's been so long since I last played it so I don't know if it holds up, but I remember it being very fun.

Found more Genghis Khan IV info from South Korea's version of wikipedia. https://namu.wiki/w/%EC%A7%95%EA%B8%B0%EC%8A%A4%EC%B9%B8%204

It's surprising to see that SK has a comprehensive mod community that managed to reverse engineer the game code to include cool shit such as remake the whole map to include the Americas and make their own custom scenarios such a Three Kingdoms Scenario, a Roman Empire Scenario and more.

From their Japanese faction strategy guide, you can almost feel the passive-agressive hate SK has towards Japan.

>In Scenario 2, where the Mongols aren't overwhelmingly strong, the nation has three cities and is quite strong, and even the samurai, who were actually crushed by the Mongols with their primitive tactics, have stats that are almost as good as the Mongol cavalry.

The problem is that Yoshitsune's combat-related stats are identical to Genghis Khan's and Suigun's, which has been criticized as supporting the Yoshitsune=Genghis Khan theory. In fact, Koei tends to actively incorporate unusual yasas into their games, even if they are highly unlikely, such as including characters from light drama in the Three Kingdoms series and the female Uesugi Genshin in Nobunaga's Ambition series.

>Samurai: A cavalry unit that can only be organized in Japan. They are classified as archers even though they carry swords.[10] They have an attack of 35, only 2 less than Mongolian cavalry. However, they have the lowest mobility of all archers at 13, so it's a bit difficult for them to mow down an enemy's first division in a single turn with their archery like Mongolian cavalry.[11] However, their melee strength is comparable to Mongolian cavalry, making them a powerful class. In user-created scenarios, it is the #1 target for nerfing or retooling into other classes.

While there's some home nation bias, the Samurai did defeat the Mongols and force them to retreat to their boats where the Typhoon finished them off.

The Namu articles on Koei and their games have some interesting info.

From their PTO page:

>Because the work depicts comfort women and forced labor, it is controversial because it is sensitive to general Korean sentiment, so naturally this part is censored and the work is not released. This has led to some people treating it as black history. However, there are also those who believe that it is a work that accurately depicts the real history of comfort women and forced labor. In the first place, comfort women and forced labor are currently being thoroughly denied by the Japanese government.[1] In other words, if this movie is considered far right-wing, it will be considered black history.
>>
>>1859326

>Because the work depicts comfort women and forced labor, it is controversial because it is sensitive to general In other words, if the series was a far-right movie, it should not have included these two systems in the first place, but it clearly depicts the mistakes of the Japanese military without accepting the Japanese government's denial of reality. The series even goes so far as to systematize one of the most iconic tropes of the Japanese Empire, the land-naval conflict, as one of the events on the Japanese side in every episode. As if that weren't enough, from Episode 2 onwards, this event is further refined with the refinement of the conference system, making it even more frustrating for players who choose to play as Japan, such as having to deal with Army Chief of Staff Hajime Sugiyama or Prime Minister Hideki Tojo, who chairs the conference and sides with the army, in a scripted conference, making outrageous suggestions, or even having to roast the foreign and interior ministers in order to get the conference to work. Speaking of the first episode in particular, as you can see in the video, the depiction of comfort women[2] and the order to execute forced labor[3] for residents of occupied territories were controversial. The infamous Japanese military slogan "The Army is opposed to the Navy's proposal" (陸軍としては海軍の提案に反対である)#[4] is also used in the video, and it can be seen as a historically accurate representation. Considering the other games released in addition to Admiral's Decision, KOEI is one of the few Japanese game makers that keeps realistic accuracy in mind without glorifying or distorting history.
>>
>>1859329
Comfort women are also one of the most common sexual depictions in classic Koei games, like the Ordo system in the Genghis Khan series. However, in Japan, regardless of one's views on comfort women, the mere inclusion of such an element in an all-ages game is considered immoral, and even those who have never played the game know that "Admiral's Decision = Comfort Women. This sensitive element was a factor that hindered globalization and contributed to the franchise's demise, along with the low ratings of the fourth installment. If you look at the depiction in the game, it's more like a naval sunburst game than a right-wing game. Of course, the game is about the Japanese Navy, which is a romance of right-wingers, so there was quite a demand from right-wing users.
>>
Also from the Namu wiki, from the Koei Tecmo page under the History tab.

>As a result, it is one of the most hated companies by netizens on 2ch and other sites in Japan because it has shown a lot of consideration for the Korean market, including the Korean Sea incident in Age of Empires Online and the release of Koreanized versions of the Three Kingdoms series and Age of Empires series. This story is not unique to Koei, as there are many examples of companies that are criticized as far-right in Korea and left-wing in Japan. This happens because people don't recognize the difference in perception between the two countries.

Finished my second campaign of Awakening, this time playing as the Imagawa in 1553. Fairy easy campaign, though I did have to restart a few times because the Takeda kept taking provinces I needed for my regional victory. Originally only intended to go for the "ultimate conquest" victory but decided to go for total unification anyway. Hojo did very well, which meant the last part of the game was like a decade of slowly demolishing them.

I still really like the game, but I must admit if I do have one problem with it is that the automation tools the game gives you are kind of weak. The "March" order especially is very guilty of this. The AI just moves very stupidly and inefficiently. The system also largely doesn't seem to understand the way supplies work, with the AI flat out avoiding the supply hubs I build along the way. Granted, you totally can just do everything manually but that kind of feels like doing everything manually in, say, Heart of Iron 4. It's possible but also kind of feels like you are struggling against the game itself when you do. I still like the combat a lot though.

>>
>>1875358
>Honestly not a fan of this "forged friendship" and destiny, sounds like the fluff they added in 13.
Because it's pretty much that and something they grafted onto the 8 skeleton. Granted, friendships and relationships in general were extremely barebones in 8 so it's that bad of an addition.

These portraits are so damn good. Why can't we have this style anymore?
>>
>>1875358
See that's actually the system I'm most interested (well, I suppose second to general combat feel/balance).

Cause in 13 its pretty one dimensional. Friendships are opt in and you gotta do those generic quests each time, and nemesis only happens if you kill someone's family/friend, and the ai never makes new friends or family after game start.

So i feel the system from 13 really needs an update, and this looks good for that front.

Friendships forming dynamically implies more friendships and by extension more rivals, which makes for a more interesting story.
>>
>>1875816
There was a preview I saw and it said rivals kept moving to adjacent cities

Okay, so I decided to skip work and stayed at home to play the game all day instead. And yeah... The game actually isn't a Remake of 8 despite its title.

>presentation is just way too different
>events are completely rewritten and some event triggers are also different
>abilities are completely reworked:
>Abilities now come in 3 levels instead of 5 for combat abilities and only 1 for domestic ones
>you no longer obtain abilities from observing facilities or asking other officers teaching you, instead you obtain a sorts of currency from doing things, then use those currency at home to upgrade the abilities
>different battle systems and maps
>each combat ability can only be used ONCE per battle
>dueling has a completely different mechanic
>debating is added in and used the same mechanic as dueling
>Fame is now divided into Martial, Cultural and Notorious fames
>can't randomly interact with civilians in the castle, though there are lines when doing quests/tasks that reference the old civilians lines
>no challenge mode from the PUK

If it wasn't for the fact that they use arranges of the old music, and Liu Yan is still a fucking dick that gobbles up half of China at the start of the scenario, this could have been ROTK15. I'm still enjoying the game though, but I'm kinda feel scammed by this.

Quick question tho, did I fuck up by picking Lu Bu as my first character? The tutorial pointed me in his direction, but I'm afraid he will prove too OP in the long run
>>
>>1882964
His Cavalry combat abilities do seem like it trivializes the combat too much, but otherwise I don't think he is as OP as people like Cao Cao or Zhou Yu, where they not only have very good stats, they also have very good abilities and synergies with other officers too. Geographically-speaking, early scenarios Liu Yan/Liu Biao/Sun Jian trivialize the game a lot more because they are surrounded by a bunch of empty cities riped for the taking.

Cao Cao was annoying me with constant calls to his stupid councils. So the time I decide not to go he orders me alone governor of Xuchang to take out Yuan Shu with my 10 000 vs 40 000 men. Not really. There's one of the old untranslated ones with vassal lord play, but if you can actually read Japanese there's no reason to play that for officer play over Taikou Risshiden or something.
>>
>>1885049
Most of my battles in 8R just involve rushing down the couple home units and completely ignoring reinforcements and structures since they don't matter for victory anyway. 13 has proper castle walls and fortifications the enemy can hide behind that force you to engage the reinforcements and use some strategy.
>>
I feel in terms of gameplay the sengoku period is just more fun and varied than the three kingdoms.
>anything before 190 is disconnected from the rest of the story and important events break, anything after 195 the land has already been consolidated into wei vs wu vs shu
>northern plains are OP so cao cao is basically the only challenge since shu and wu are so spread out
meanwhile you have dozens of good clans spread throughout the sengoku period, and after nobunaga dies it equalizes out again with his realm splitting apart.
>>
>>1886812
It's crazy how well the Sengoku period work as a story. A good story should not be just "and then, and then"
>Scrappy underdog beats the superior enemy and goes on to attain fame, fortune and power (Just like Rocky!)
>When the status quo feels like Nobunaga is just going to steamroll everyone now... he gets betrayed, his enemies and former allies gain time to lick their wounds and now the "plot" is about to gets to control the former Oda clan... the loyalist, the betrayer or the peasant man who managed to climb through the ranks with diligence...
>and yet another scrappy underdog victory, the peasant wins, and now he is the strongest force in the county, though making enemies in the process
>Oh no, he died with a child heir, oh the suspense, you could make an award winning series just about the politicking involved
>Ok so the scheming worked and the former Child hostage that's been involved with Nobunaga from the start is now in control of the land (it's always the side characters you least expect) but at least the land is in peac- SIKE! There is one great final siege!
And that's just the main plotline, don't forget all the "side stories" with Masamune, Motochika, the Uesugi v Takeda, the Sanada backstabbing everyone...
>>
>>1886812
>anything after 195 the land has already been consolidated into wei vs wu vs shu
Not true. 198 has Lu Bu's last in Xu while 200 has Liu Biao vs Sun Ce and Cao Cao vs Yuan Shao.

>>
will there be an editor for RTK8 Remake? I saw that Van said he had no plan on buying the game currently.
>>
>>1886812
This is why in RTK the most fun starts are custom or the 'Heroes' style scenarios. I would really love a game from Koei that was much more of an RPG that let you do things while history happened around you, but the scale and branching would be too difficult. The officer style games don't really do enough to scratch the RPG style itch.
>>
>>1882960
I prefer 13 to 8R because I felt I had a lot more freedom in that game. 8R probably has the superior battles for me in principle though I think 14 might be the best for that overall in a modern game. I like 13 because I can travel around the map and do my thing and the world continues on at the same time, officers move around battles progress and it is a much more 'lively' game to me and it doesn't have some of the big issues that 8R does and those issues make the game suffer a lot because of the frustration (moving between cities without losing status, having to mess around moving officers to fix who is in the new+old city when conquering etc etc)
Both games suffer a lot from being 'boring' or 'samey' when it comes to interactions and building relationships with other characters you really have to do the heavy lifting with your imagination.
>>1884943
I remember I had a very fun game in 13 where history unfolded quite nicely for a long time before falling off the rails.

This game is weird (RTK8R). ATK and DEF of two cavalry units (starting troops 7000 each) is similar (~210 each vs ~260) to my single archer unit (starting troops 10000), yet even when both of them are attacking it over successive turns I can whittle them both down. I feel like they should have very quickly crushed my unit and moved on.

Unfortunately unless you can read chink runes and get access to their websites, you're out of luck from what I gather, I couldn't even find the character editor to make "breathing" custom characters
>>
>DWO won't have Cao Ren, even just as an NPC
>and yet they kept the fucker Xu Shu around
Literally why?
>>

Out of every character you picked the one dude that this isn't an issue for since he's 15 in 184 and is playable for every scenario in the game.
>>
>>1892069
Oh really? I swear I looked him up in some of the early scenarios and I couldn't find him until like the 200AD scenario.
>>
I really like awakening, except for the fact that you HAVE to fight defense castles instead of just blockading them to death.

Pretty boy vs absolute unit ojisan

Which Koei PC games have actual decent translations?

for some reason I've discovered he's at the very bottom of the officer list when he's a free officer but he is there.
Ofcourse shit like Nanmen's not appearing until its' Nanmen time or even lesser examples like Cai Mao not spawning until he's late 20's in 189 is stuff i think is really dumb restrictions, if the character is old enough, put them in.
>>
>>1892983
There's a cheat table for 8R that lets you alter status of officers now so if you really want to play as someone in any scenario you can

Yang Yi cost Shu-Han its best general.

irl wei yan was just as much of a cunt if not more. also yang yi had legitimate reason to be pissed off at everything like getting passed over for promotion to zhuge liang's nepo babby jiang wan

Sorry, I'm a Wei Yan apologist. Sure he may be a cunt for disobeying orders and then cut off retreat path for the rest of the army, but at least he didn't plot secret plan to assassinate another person or slander that another person posthumously

I've never actually played a clan east/north of oda, whats fun up there? the area kinda feels barren to me because hojo/takeda/uesugi are so oppressive and dominating and date only becomes relevant way too late.
>>
>>1895410
Sanada is very fun, if a bit nigh impossible to expand because they are wedged between some of the most powerful clans in every scenario. The geographical advantage makes clan up north of Date like Tozawa and Nanbu pretty fun to play as up until you have to face the Hojo/Tokugawa.

Whats the best uncharted water/new horizons game these days? Still the old genesis and snes ones?
>>
>>1897052
Not like there's any new option nowadays. There's that Origin game, but that's a gacha game so I imagine it being pretty bad.
>>
>>1897065
I have no idea I barely follow games nowadays there could've been 20 games since the mmo and I'd have 0 clue.
Every once in awhile they release ROTK games on steam for way too much money and steam tries to sell it to me so I thought it was worthwhile to ask.
Oh well, nevermind then.
>>
>>1897067
If you don't mind it not being a Koei game, Sailing Era is a good replacement. It's a chink knock-off, but it's pretty well done one, story sucks ass though.
>>
>>1897074
I know its stupid but I have a hard time installing chinese games on my computer. Bad enough installing jap ones.
>>
>>1897076
Ah no, I mean it's a Chinese made game, but it's available in English.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2161440/Sailing_Era/

I personally don't have any technical issues with the game, but the comments on the store page say that there's plenty of it. Steam has a 2 hour refund policy so try it out and see if it works, you can always ask for a refund later.
>>
>>1897079
No no I understand. I'm saying I don't want to put chinese software on my computer kek
I know its dumb they aren't all malicious nightmare creatures.
>>
>>1897082
Understandable. Then you're out of luck regarding new UW games then, unfortunately.
>>
>>1897083
Seems like that is the case, snes, genesis, or pc the best version? Is there a consensus? Need an "Open Uncharted Waters" port like RTC or TTD so we can mod the fuck out of it kek

I've only played the SNES ages ago so that's the one I'd recommend. The first and second UW got ported to Steam a few years ago, but it's a straight port from the old PC release so I heard they have a few technical issues playing on modern hardware. So again, I don't think you have much options here.
