I enjoy the remaster
>>1736742Devs better hope Imperium Surrectum is worth the wait because the only other thing the Remaster offers is the lotr mod.
Oh my SCIENCE is that all that TOTAL LOSE can muster?? Havent they see the flawless success of the TOTAL WAR KILLER, the GREATEST GAME EVER MADE, MANOR LORDS???I just shit myself so hard from excitement that i came in my cagey!!! Im going to go and play more MANOR LORDS
>>1736921>No barbarian empires>or chiv>or one of the EB1 submodsshit taste
>>1740588Bit pathetic.
>>1740588give it a rest you fucking loser
>>1740588get help
>>1740588I'm so glad the game is a success and you're nothing but a sore loser hehe
>>1740588If you find yourself citing weird sex fetishes in your mocking posts out of nowhere, you should take a step back from porn and the internet. It seems funny in the moment but I think you know it's pretty fucked up to have that reference in front of mind.
>>1736921Imperium Surrectum sucks ass. WAAYY too much bloat, takes literally 5 minutes for a turn to finish because some retard thought adding a bazillion minor factions would equate to fun gameplay. I have a 990 M.2 mind you and it still took literal ages
>>1740588>dubs of truth checked and kek'd,your doing Gods' work anon.
>>1740957>>1740820>>1740616>>1740963>>1741030
>>1742859literally five minutes? the first set of turns always take the longest but after that i clocked the turn times to around 2 minutes.
>>1743034Nta but to be fair, 2 minutes a turn is aggravatingly slow too.Personally I see no reason thus far to bother with Imperium Surrectum, for now I'll just stay with Roma Surrectum III.
>>1743143thats fair i understand that people have different limits. i like the bloat though.
>>1743157Bloat is cool desu but turn times of that length make me want to rope myself. And afaik IS hasn't overhauled the roman content of RS yet and everything else doesn't interest me right now. Partially because of all the possible military reforms.
>playing this game for like 20 yearsAnd I have just been defeated by my own cheesy tactic, the MANBALL SCRUM which deleted two units of phalanx and allowed them to crush the rest easily and nothing I could do to rescue the situation. Granted I dont usually play with phalanxes, is there any defence for this on the open field? The AI was bad in the least version of RTR but its very good now with the update
>>1743235>spartaMY MAN. god their roster is so shit though. like the nu light infantry after the reforms is such a downgrade its crazy. the aicheons have the best roster, they got chainmaip heavy infantry pikes cav. they got it all.
>>1743241The roster is pretty shitty apart from the hoplites, but I usually the cheat to keep them after the reforms though still getting BTFO. The euzoni and phalanxes are absolute ass but thorakiti are quite decent
>>1743228Did they overhaul Parthia yet?
>>1740614EB1 is more functional on vanilla Rome last I checked. Others aren't worth the remaster. I stand by what I said
>>1740614Chivalry is a fine port, but honestly, it is depressing, since it doesn't have Medieval 2's mechanics and the units are the same ugly models from 2004. Not much to see there, besides the big map submod.
>>1743244the perioikoi are okay. as for the AI blobs, i usually keep a couple of phalanx in the second line so when the line breaks at the attack point, i can quickly move in the reserve phalanx.>>1743341they only finished greeks and the illyrians. next patch for this update cycle is going to finish up greek officers and implementing a new recruitment mechanic. the next update 0.7 is going to be entirely focused on rome/italy and 0.8 is going to be focused on carthage and whatever that entails. after that, who knows but i imagine they will probably focus in gauls in 0.9 and so eastern units will probably be years out desu.
>>1743386>eastern units will probably be years out desu.Well, too bad, but I understand. Might as well wait for CA's remake of Rome 2
>>1743235That blob could’ve been countered with a flanking maneuver from the left. Two cavs + general can easily rout a single unit and also archers deal more damage if you can get sideshots with them
208 BCmy turn time is 1 minute and 8 seconds on an nvme
that chainmail looks great. makes me excited for when rome gets released in two years.
>>1744326Makes me wish the start date would be earlier with a rome that starts of using hoplite.
>>1744335an entirely italian campaign against the sammites would be excellent.
>>1744337Like Rise of the Republic in R2?
>>1744344yes
>>1736742it don't look like vanilla units
>>1743235>The AI was bad in the least version of RTR but its very good now with the updatedo it still run away from battle field when it lose few troops?
>>1743235>The AI was bad in the least version of RTR but its very good now with the updatemodders cant change AI. what youre seeing is placebo or you just didnt have the AI shit out this time around.
>RR AI still hard codedThanks Feral
>>1744573>>1744765From the patch notes:***NEW BATTLE FEATURES***○ Added functionality for modding Battle AI via data files■ These values affect which orders the units are given, but not pathfinding/the way orders are carried out■ These constants can be assigned on a per-faction basis in descr_sm_factions.txt■ Default AI values are located in descr_battle_ai_personalities.txt file>not only can you modify the BAI, you can give different factions different BAI
>>1744815>These values affect which orders the units are given, but not pathfinding/the way orders are carried outthats the most important bit there. there are personalities that you can give the factions yes, but you cant directly modify them. at best you can assign them different personalities but you cant go in and modify it. its always been like this for all the games so people like darth who claim to mod the AI are being exaggerative. you can try and modify factors that hopefully get the AI to act how you want but there is no modding it. any modder will tell you this.
>>Feral creates a new file to let modders tinker with BAI>>anon in the thread reports that it's working>>"nuh uh unmoddable"Anyway, here's the file in question in case anyone's interestedhttps://pastebin.com/qLqutR7v
>>1744841nuh uh
>>1744504It will run from a battle and try to save its army if it takes some losses and decides not to throw away the rest of its army when it has no chance to win, usually leaving one unit to cover the retreat.>>1744573The AI as I understand is based off what are essentially OP-AMPS which are probabilistically biased towards certain courses of action based on the input info it has access to and its own bias settings, for example if its outnumbered its likelihood of retreating can be increased from 0.1 (wont retreat) to 0.9 (will retreat after one sarissa poke). The structure of the inputs and outputs are hardcoded but the values can most definitely be tweaked and it has a large effect on the course of the AI's choices, albeit limited by the constraints of the system itself. And besides, if you had played this game last version and current version, you would see on the campaign map that the old AI would just cluster in the center of its territory and do nothing whereas now it forms an ever growing horde of doom which it re-positions for attack based on the perceived strength and diplomatic relations of neighboring states, it will eventually jump you if it thinks it can win
>>1744501what do you mean
>>1744815>>1744841Well dang, I take back what I said. What about campaign AI aside from personalities? I know that modders know how to mess with that in Med 2.
>>1745705I think you can do the same with CAI, give them little personalities.
>>1745705● Added support for unit-specific AI recruitment bias using recruit_priority_offset● Added ai_destruction_hint option to building definitions to improve AI logic for destroying buildings● Added functionality to control Roman Faction AI Assists via data files● Added functionality allowing ai_do_not_attack_faction to target multiple factionsThis is all I could find, and it doesn't seem as substantial. Although I don't know how moddable the CAI is from the start.
Is remaster worth getting? It seems to have lots of improvements and unplayable factions turned into real campaigns, but aesthetic is eh from what I can see, and I don't trust CA to do anything right anymore.
>>1747014Remaster was handled by Feral, not CA>Is remaster worth getting?Honestly, no. If you already have Rome and can get it working well with a wrapper then it's just unnecessary
>>1747014Only if you want to play mods. The game itself is still the same old Rome 1 it was 20 years ago.
>>1747014yes
>>1747014If you can stomach the ui, it is worth for some mods. Honestly, nowadays I prefer Rome 2 to play with this historical period.
anybody try this one out for the BAI?https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3236132034&searchtext=
>>1747014it is exactly the same as og Rome TW other than the ui, which is honestly better in some ways (hit tab to see overview map, info on cities/units easier to see at a glance, etc) even if it is worse in others (ui elements scattered around the screen rather than all in a bar across bottom, small text). Oh and it takes up way too much HD space but I've become apathetic to that bullshit at this point
>>1747054>>1747075What are the mods in question? I never really played modded original Rome so I know little about its modding scene. Is EB ported over to remaster? Also is Alexander better in remaster or does it still suck?
>>1748171EB port is mediocre. Last I checked the uploader cared way more about making a new campaign on top of EB, and both suffered as a result. It doesn't even incorporate the new stuff made by that one eb submod
>>1740588Nobody talks like this, though
>>1748171check out these two submods for eb porthttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3142473735&searchtext=eb+1https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3125270648&searchtext=eb+1and then check out this mod for alexanderhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2784981080&searchtext=alexander
>>1748478Disregard my post. >>1748487 looks much better than what rt2021 was doing with his. God I really am behind on RTR news.
>>1743034>2 minutesbrah i think its a little much bloat. i personally prefer mods enhancind gameplay mechanics. whats the point of a map that big when you gonna auto resolve 95% of sieges anyway?
Rise of Persia port just releasedhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3244219738
>>1749163>whats the point of a map that big when you gonna auto resolve 95% of sieges anywayThis. Better maps are larger, sure, but not too much, or else everything becomes a chore. I'd rather have a smaller map with better borders and provinces
>>1749163>i personally prefer mods enhancind gameplay mechanics.theyre doing that too, the mod will be the mod to end all mods basically. next patch will be focused on finishing up the greek generals and implementing the first round of recruitment system.plus the yuge map adds its own uniqueness. Before my save got corrupted, I was over 200 turns in and still not done conquering Greece, embroiled in a war with Macedon and the last remnants of the bosporian league. Rome had also invaded and set up a couple of armies in Illyria so that was going to be something I would need to deal with after Macedon. I like the slow paced of the campaign and how grand even conquering one area of the world feels. 200 turns in vanilla or most other mods and youd be at a world conquest by then. not to mention that every area youre fighting real factions and not generic rebels that would never threaten your position. in EB2, you would go a long time before fighting other factions. meanwhile in RIS, turn one, you have to juggle between your neighbors that WILL go for you as soon as you leave behind a weak garrison. its much more interesting.
damn rome unit models are so old
>>1753260RRS2 models are so hideous
>>1753427*RS2 models, can't type
>>1747014Its the only good TW game in the last 15 years. The best modding potential means it's the future of the franchise.
>>1753427actually rise of persia
>>1753436I stand by what I said
>>1736742I've never played the original Rome but spent a lot of time with Medieval 2 and Shogun 2.Which would you guys recoomend. Original or Remaster?
>>1753517well if you want to buy and not pirate, you can only get the original by buying the remaster anyways. so you get both to play.
>>1753114Have they always been so hunched over?
>>1753721dumb ally AI always runs their troops around, so when they are exhausted, they hunch over.
https://youtu.be/x2-il2U9we0?si=itArNEfMlSfGONvhWW2
>>1753260Most mods for the Remaster are ports from big ol' Rome and have those units. I'd rather play Rome 2 honestly
Cultural Conquest pushed out an update today featuring an interesting recruiting system meant to stop AI stack spam. Wonder how well it works.
>>1755721kind of like Med2's recruitment system
>>1754955Looks pretty wild all things considered
