Is there a modern strategy game that caused more damage to the perception of historically accurate medieval combat?
>bows are inferior to crossbows, the latter can easily penetrate steel armor
>if you put plate on, you move like a turtle
>pikemen don't use pikes

>bowmen are piss cheap and fast to produce unlike crossbowmen

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>

I don't think stronghold did much if any damage to modern perceptions of medieval warfare. If anything it improves them since it shows how complex fully built castles could be and the logistics involved in maintaining an army.

I'd personally try fire but don't know how it would fare against shields.
>>
>>1879287
Artillery obsoleted pike and shot squares which were the last true spear meta IRL.

>gun beats spear
>big gun beats gun
How do we beat big gun, bros?
>>
>>1879272
>>if you put plate on, you move like a turtle
You dont move slower but you drain your stamina faster, nobody would want to manage a stamina bar on units though.

I asked something similar recently, see >>>/a/272294830 .
>>

bows are simpler to make but training an archer is harder than a crossbowman so yeah
this game doesn't take training into account

Total War, obviously.

It's a triangle, so spear beats big gun.

Bigger gun, obviously
>>
>>1879819
It's most likely in the works or finished already. But because its a direct upgrade to stronghold there is no reason to push it now.

Arrows should beat spears. If hoplites were still popular (or Roman legionnaires), then that counter wouldn't exist, but apparently in the dark ages/during most of medieval warfare, they decided big shields are too expensive to hand out to peasants. Just here's a sharp stick and die, maybe scare away some horses.

The Roman tactics that beat the Greeks.

>but we throw our spears in their shields and then stab them in meelee range with our swords that can also slash(tm)

>>
>>1880551
Seriously, imagine if spearmen kept using shields. They would be unbeatable. Shield counters their arrow weakness, and they still deal bonus damage to horse.

Big wall
>>
>>1885677
But spearmen deal bonus damage vs buildings (and therefore also walls) because of Arson tech
