from my experience the slow recruitment of a lot of units makes it so the AI is fielding dogshit for the whole game. Vanilla had a similar issue, but that was due to AI logic(like scripted to recruit way too many artillery units like balistas) and not due to lack of units.

its even dumber when they do shit like "kontaratoi spearmen" which literary means spearmen spearmen, just a generic descriptor. Native language names should be mostly kept to unit descriptions along with the rest of the flavour text of the unit.
Only cases where its acceptable are for elite units when the generic identifier is already used for that country and the name isnt retarded, eg skoutatoi spearmen, differentiates them from the foder spearmen while the name skoutatoi refers to a specific way some infantry were equiped in the byzantine army (essentially all troops that were still equipped under the legionary infantry model, hence why skoutatoi aka scutum carriers)

Most players do not hang out in the mod's forum/discord/whatever so their poll of autistic followers led them astray. I feel like this is a huge reason mods and indie games go to shit. The mod author's autism got wrangled for 5.0. All those things are fixed now

you can now get access to elite unites earlier if you rush it, although thats probably not a good idea since early game units are usable for the whole game once they get armor and attack upgrades.

Dol Amroth got hit with the nerf stick, repeatedly. The stats are mostly the same, but the unit size are scaled way down so they feel way more fragile. If anything, the evil factions feel quite oppressive this patch since their giant units like trolls and oliphaunts are so hard to deal with.

Surprisingly enough, very hard campaign difficulty feels much better than medium in this regard. The AI is generally more competent at holding their ground without resorting to meatspam, so you dont see them shitting 3 stacks a turn until you have pushed very far into their territory and thrown the AI into panic mode.
I would say this update is the best in a very long time. Some faction reworks are great, I would recommend an Enedwaith run if you are looking for a challenge.

Europa barbaroum is different from this mod,the unit names are native but in the parantheses there are english names as well,which is awesome.The native unit names and languages in EB really add to it's charm (EQVITES CONSVLARES!),but having english names as well helps a lot,it would be very confusing otherwise.
