Should that even be possible
>>1888908is wandering nobles any good?
I really like that they buffed Norman culture in the new update, it used to suck, especially compared to Norse. But now it looks like it would be smarter to make an Anglo-Norman culture rather than English. No way are long bowmen better than having access to huscarls and those new heavy cavalry.
>>1888994Did a quick game this morning as king of France. Only got to do one inspection before work. It was just activity slop. Select location, travel to location and click through several events to grant tax income on that county. Maybe landless characters have more or the ruins hike/visit location ones are different but I doubt it. At a certain point I just stop reading events and select from the options for what effects I want.
>>1889059I like it too but it makes French seem so shit in comparison.
>>1889067I feel like French has sucked ever since I've played the game. In my mind a good culture has one really good combat tradition, maybe something for electives, and the rest should be focused on boosting development.
>>1889064>At a certain point I just stop reading events and select from the options for what effects I wantSo nothing changed besides more bloat. Thanks paradox.
Here's my plan for my Norman run. Run around as Rollo building up an army and getting the swansong thing. Get some land in Scandinavia. Launch a Varangian adventure to Normandy. Keep my Norse culture long enough to put a Scandinavian elective on Normandy. Keep my Asatru faith for a while so I can raid and dump a bunch of gold into Normandy. Convert to Christianity and become a vassal of the king of France. Bide my time building up Normandy and schmoozing the pope. At the perfect time buy a claim on England and invade. Make Anglo-Norman culture. Conquer the rest of Britain. Adopt an administrative government. After that I'm not sure what else.Thoughts?
>>1889059Longbowmen still kill the shit out of everything, unless they nerfed them today. If i remember right unique archers/x-bow will always be the best damage the way the game calculates battles.
>>1889117Huh. I'll have to do some research. A lot of videos show the cost vs damage of certain men at arms but besides war elephants I never have that hard of a time supporting the best troops.
>>1889120Really any unique MAA can dominate if you build and station them properly. Its something i dont think the AI will ever do right so eventually you will just be blowing up the enemy no matter what army you build. Not to mention if you happen to have a strong general at the time.
>>1889129The ai really struggles to upgrade their holdings and it really lets you leave them in the dust in almost every aspect after 200 years.
>>1889102Is this all going to happen in a single lifetime? When I was playing around landless it was really easy to take a trip to Rome and do some contracts for the Pope so he would owe me a favor and let me claim whatever I want
>>1889140I was hoping to get to the convert to Christianity part with just Rollo, but that swansong thing takes quite a while. Honestly I'd like to raid for as long as possible so I might put that off for one of his sons to do.
Oh shit I might have to do a Crimean Gothic game. The main issue is that rulers tend to pick up the gothic kings legend pretty quick.https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/1gjno53/new_restore_the_bosporan_kingdom_decision_added/
I really hope they update Russian culture in the next chapter. I really just want them to have long ships and access to varangain veterans.
They reworked inbreeding, it's now safer in the early game for characters that don't have a large ancestor tree.Previously:Sibling x Sibling with only parents: 90% inbreeding chanceCurrent:Sibling x Sibling with only parents: 15% inbreeding chance
>>1889196Russhits have no culture besides being violent orcs.
Chud question but does anyone have the new Godherja patreon patch?
>Start to get things rolling>70k levies, all of europe & 90% of Africa>500 renown per month>Game becomes sluggish as hell and crash anytime I open a list with too many charactersGee thanks.
Is there a North African culture that has elephants available. I want to do a revive Carthage run and i figure what fun is it without war elephants. Or am i going to have to make somebody from India and reform from there.
>>1889253Only Indian elephants are good at war.
>>1889253Start as an adventurer and bring some back
>>1889250>World map for better performance>population control But yeah, I have no idea why people keep wanting more provinces and characters when the base game can't go 200 years without becoming a sluggish hellscape. God help you if you try playing with a mod that allows vassals to be called to war or raise their own armies in civil wars as well. Shit can't even handle that many armies moving around.
>>1889324>Pick new start date>Fourth crusade kicks off>Game turns into 1 day per second on max speed due to all the armies moving around Thanks paradox.
>>1888908This piece of dogshit game is STILL magnitudes worse than ck2, when the fuck are these hack devs going to fix the game?
>>1889344Never. Just look at the reviews of their newest dlc.
>>1889224You know this game is set before their culture diverges from Ukrainian right? My point is that they used long ships to sail down the Dnieper and raid over the seas, and that a lot, if not most, of the varangians were Rus.
I'm a noob and my character has a lot of renown. Are these good cultural traditions to diverge into? Started Bavarian
>>1889407in the early treaties by greeks they wrote down the names of varangians raiders, which shows they were norse with 1-2 finns.it would make sense if they had something of a temporary hybrid culture while getting absorbed by the locals (ex. Sviatoslav to Bulg) but I find it hard thinking east slavs developing a maritime culture on their own (landlocked). did slavs ever expand overseas? I know various places around the eastern baltic sea takes credit for raiding sweden incl. sigtuna (chatted with an estonian who claimed it made them vikings), and the Geatish dyke, but I don't recall any slav settling in such a way. can't come up with a major example to justify 'coastal warriors' with stuff like varangian adventures for any slav cunts
So anons, is CK3 finally on par (or near on par) content-wise with CK2? I've been thinking of getting for the Princes of Darkness or AGOT mods.
>>1889448Still no republics
>>1889449To be fair landless noble houses are the same shit as ck2 republics, the only thing missing is the "trade" aspect (and it's not like ck2 had trade mechanics either, you just built money printing trade outposts)
>>1889446https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Constantinople_(860)
>>1889415I like garden architects.
>>1889450I want to play as Venice though
>>1889451the leaders have norse names, I don't think one can attribute it to slavsattacks on constantinople just a few decades later have the greeks recording many names of its leaders, which were very clearly norse. these attackers are also called rus
>>1889466Shit you may be right. Early Russian history is a mess and it doesn't help how politicized it became after WW2. I need to do more reading. But I've definitely heard that Russian culture was influenced by the vikings. Really what I've noticed is that Russia is the one place on the map that benefits the most from having access to the long ships innovation and I just want it.
>>1889196theres already a mod, rurik something, it adds everything the game lacks in that regard>>1889224>their culture diverges from Ukrainianoh baby>from Ukrainian
why is there not a single mod that adds new funky skin colors like green and red and stuff, am i the only one who wants more inheritable character characteristics in the game
>>1889507>>their culture diverges from Ukrainian>oh baby>>from UkrainianUkrainian diverges from the culture of the Rus. Look man, I don't want to get political, I just want long ships.
>>1889448Absolutely not, ck3 is barebones with 0 flavor outside of VIKANGZ
>>1889526https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2218891628
>>1889509https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3146744869

Is it actually possible to beat Genghis' army. I thought i remember hearing that his units are buffed to the point even if you min/max they just get instantly deleted. I was thinking of doing a Steppe run where i build up in power and try to stop him when he spawns in but if its just not mathematically possible till he dies ill skip the effort.
>>1889509The Warcraft mod has that by switching the skin palette with the hair one
>>1889576I did it as Yurga once. It was right after tours and tournaments came out so I'm not sure if things have changed much since then. Every county in the kingdom was 100 development and I had to buy some mercenaries, but I beat him.
>>1889576>>1889587With the 1.13 update his units were so strong their advantage overflowed into infinity or some other crap like that, I don't know if it still happens after they changed the combat balance again with the latest patches
>>1889590Maybe ill just do a quicker run on a broken character to see if its even possible first before doing a real run at it.
I just noticed that you only need either the long ships innovation or to follow a Norse faith to have access to the Norse dynasty legacies. I thought you needed North Germanic heritage, did they just change that?
What should I do culture wise as Bohemia (Czech)?I grabbed cultural blending cause I needed to spend points, heard it was good but don't really understand why. Never made a hybridized culture before.I don't know what I'm doing...
>>1889632Hybridize with Persian to make the best culture ever.
>>1889637What does it do? I don't even understand what the hybridization mechanic is. Make a new culture but with access to unique traditions from a foreign one? Then what, you have to convert all your land to the new hybrid culture?I don't even know what regular traditions are good, let alone what unique stuff there is to try and get through hybridization.
>>1889650You get to pick and chose your traditions and pillars (but you need to take at least one pillar from each culture). The culture will spread in a randomly sized burst and the rest you will have to spread. If you do hybridize with Persian keep bureaucratic and west Slavic heritage. Keep industrious, grab garden architects and Beacon of Learning from Persian. The rest is up to you.
>>1889626That's weird, the code for it hasn't changed in common\dynasty_legacies\98_fp1_legacies.txtYou need the DLC + the first perk, the norse culture, or a child of norse culture for the legacy to be shown.
>>1889681Maybe the wiki is wrong. I thought you always needed North Germanic, so that may change how I play.
> travel event> my 0 year old daughter is heading off with a makeshift fishing rod> "Where are you off to?" my character asks> "Its a nice day for fishing" my 3 month year old daughter saysThis game makes me laugh so hard sometimes
>>1889682I just tested it out and yeah the wiki's wrong. Also North Germanic heritage = norse in code so Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish get the legacies.
>>1889196Same, but I mainly want PDX to tackle the rota system autism. It should fit right in for Crusader Kings, since it's both partition and house seniority combined.
>>1889064Considering the name I guessed it was more stuff for the last expansion specifically around landless characters. Seems weird to be a wandering king kekAnyone try a landless start? 5 dollars doesn't seem too bad but I already feel like an idiot giving paradox money for the tournaments and landless dlcs

>>1889733no idea, it doesnt even have a skin color trait from this mod >>1889553im interested to see if it too will be inherited
who thought that hiding new activities under 4 trashy lifestyle perks each is a good idea?
>>1889757Me.
>>1889757I wish they let you pick a focus independent of the base trees. Some of them look neat but why would i ever pick it over something like Scholar or stuff like that.
I have been stuck in a crusade for 15 years despite having 150% occupation score because the retarded ass AI cannot form up allies yet the arabs can manage a 50K doomstack and defeating us in detail just fine.REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>1889827kek I've been waiting for my landless adventurer to die so his kid can start doin stuff for like 10 years.
>>1889827The fact that they couldn't fix their dogshit AI for 4+ years is actually mind boggling to me. They literally just dont care
>>1889757>>1889819Fixed skill trees were always a mistake. Random perks from CK2 was much superior.
I gotta pay more attention to what the brides look like. My dynasty looks like cross eyed retards.
>>1889842Right looks like an Oblivion character kek
>>1889842he has the "beautiful" trait doesn't he?
>>1889858yes, how could you tell? The king's mom was a little cross eyed, and his whole generation looks like that. He married a normal woman, and his son is even more cross eyed. Sent him to tutor with a glutton so he eats his way to an early grave. Hope his kids don't look like this. Might have to start looking mates with eyes too far apart.
>>1889874The complexion, all people with beauty traits have a smooth babyface complexion. The traits also used to ensure that people with them have symmetrical faces and no extreme features but that functionality was broken in the 1.13 patch and is still broken right now.
>>1889883>no extreme featuresIt also makes female necks too thick and I hate it.
>>1889858>>1889874That was a problem carried from ck2 as well with the Attractive trait linked with the portraits in that game. Although ck2 came out like 8 years before ck3, so what the fuck is the excuse? Muh "beauty is subjective" shit?
>>1890036Laziness, it's much easier to do something like that than put in the effort to create actual beauty mechanics
>>1889415By the Sword is a better pick.
How do you have fun as landless?
>>1890155The landless dlc is the most fun I've had with ck3 just don't get trapped into doing the schemes early on as you burn a ton of time without good followers to slot in. Stuff like the border disputes is a skill check that gives money. I had a lot of fun just walking around, talking to people in taverns, upgrading my camp, making a family, getting gear for them, etc.I found it much more enjoyable than waiting for 300 gold so i could finally upgrade my 1 building and going back to waiting until I get a war on me out of nowhere and now I'm dead.
>>1890159I should add though I also got tournaments at the same time and I'm so fucking tired of how it takes JUST too long if you want to move your whole camp to a tourney and they are always fucking forever away. Pay attention to your travel speed and pay attention to the danger when travelling. It is more than just bandits. >IF YOU SEE PLAGUE DO NOT GO NEAR THE PLAGUE EVEN IF YOU HAVE A GOOD PHYSICIAN WHO IS STOPPING DISEASES, YOU *WILL* RANDOMLY LOSE PEOPLE NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO IF YOU LOOK AT DISEASED AREAS ON THE MAP LET ALONE GO THROUGH THEM.
disgusting
I HAVE A QUESTION Can someone recommend me a good name to rename bavarian culture to?
Is there any way to make the terrain not look like shit without enabling 'advanced shaders'? That option makes the snow blindingly bright.
huscarls seem pretty good
>>1890271>those handsoh yeah he sure is "anglo-saxon" alright...>>1890282Keepers of the Cream
ESG virtue signaling panel
>>1890321They have fun MAA down in Nubia/Ethiopia and you can also play a character using the ancient Egyptian religion. Western Africa is the DEI location. Or at least ive never had any fun down there.
>>1890306Someone needs to update this mod. It changes the terrain shader code so it looks nice without the advanced shader effects enabled.https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/mod-xidragons-shader.1420441/
>>1890326i've had, although i only play as bottom feeders trying to raise on top. Jungle traditions are pretty op
>>1889102Got to the part where I got the swansong thing. I got land, then realized that I forgot to marry and have kids. Also I was 60 and the only thing that was keeping me alive was all the health boosts being an adventurer gets you. I reloaded to before I got land and now I need to find some lady with good traits to seduce before I die, there's a genius 29 year old lady over in England she'll probably be my target. Looks like my son is going to have to be the one to take Normandy. Also pic related happened.
>>1890335part of me wants all the earth to be modelled in the game with no regard to historicity, just for the flavor. But put more effort in to racial differences in their faces, the current representation is pretty ass.
What's the best way to get prestige as an adventurer?
>>1890321>beta israelis kek
>>1890336My first adventurer run the dude lived to fucking 78 I started avoiding health boosts and tried to let him die of cancer and he STILL died of old age like a fucking boss. His heir was fucking 40.
>>1890362Get gear from tournaments/buy it from town markets/get your people inspired to make it once you have an armorer. Then do stuff like the play schemes for prestige easily.
>>1890368Well yeah but I died a week after getting land. I'm not sure if I should restart or get a son to invade Normandy.
>>1890370I had so much piety I could ask for a claim but I was like nah since I was already ancient at that point. I find it funnier to keep going. I have so much stuff and a crew of straight murderers. >What your newborn son isn't over 20 prowess due to all the artifacts you dumped on himp when he was born? Plebs.
>>1890371I'm pagan so no asking for claims.
>>1890372Can you build and claim a holding? Still too early for me since Anglotards don't know how to build them properly yet.
>>1890373My plan is to grab a bit of land in Scandinavia and just do a varangian adventure for Normandy. Also I can't believe that Norse adventurers can't do varangain adventures. The regular adventurer invasion doesn't evict people from the land.
>>1890123Why is it better? What should I swap it out with?
>>1890376It allows for unlimited kingdom tier holy wars, but it drains your diplomacy. It's good if you want to expand a lot.
Is friends and foes worth it? I don't have it for some reason.

CK3 make anyone else's CPU spike to 60~80c once or twice during first launch?
>>1890420yup when it's loading it goes up to 75 degrees.
>>1890480yeeshthanks for confirming
How is road to power? seems like the administrative state could be fun.
>>1890321Forming Israel was probably the most fun I've had in CK3, I might end up doing a run with him.
>spend 100 years roaming the map getting all the upgrades and shit>during this time scandanavian empire forms and covers the top of the map and northern germany>byzantines own egypt and italy>all of russia and eastern europe are some obscure jewish sect for some reasonWas it always like this?I asked the byzantine emperor to become a vassal and he accepted, I got like 4000 gold from camp building refunds and then immediately died. Byzantion seems to be rife with constant plagues too. Is it worth trying to gain control of crimea to make the bosphoran kingdom?
>>1890380The diplomacy penalty is insignificant to the boon the Tradition grants. Its not even debatable.
>>1890501Khazars used to be a lot more prone to collapsing within a generation or two, though they tended to leave a few jewish converts after doing so. They tended not to collapse though to my recollection despite the higher tendency to do so.Then they got a religion tweak, and became more likely to hold onto the pagans in russia and the mordvinsthen the new conqueror trait got added, and I think they either default to receiving it-- which makes vassals "Fall in line"?-- or they just happen to get it a lot when I played. Conqueror trait's fucking nuts AND inheritable. Feels like it shouldn't be a guaranteed inheritance, but no option for that particular case because lol lmao
>>1890420Not CPU but the game has an abnormally high GPU load for what its doing in game. Nothing absurd but the game heats my graphic card up like warframe or another high graphical game would... and there isn't shit going on besides some fucking waves.
>>1890511>Conqueror trait's fucking nuts AND inheritable. Feels like it shouldn't be a guaranteed inheritance, but no option for that particular case because lol lmaoIt is retarded some of the shit that carries over and some that doesn't.
>>1890508I guess it depends on how many kingdoms you want.
>>1890511I like it the game is too easy without itAll you gotta do is murder rulers until a civil war happens then invade. That makes it harder.

>>1890904There is not a single mention of the word DEUS VULT in a game called CRUSADER KINGS, it does not get more cucked than that. Jihad is completely fine though.
>>1891002Fuck off back to wherever you came from, you don't even play the game
>>1891007
>>1891002>Jihad is completely fine though.I actually think they should remove jihads. The game depicts jihads as Muslim crusades, but they were not.Jihads were just individual holy wars, Muslims never had international coalitions like the crusades, because they lacked same level of unity as Christians. Like nobody came to caliph's aid when the Mongols attacked. And it isn't like they needed them, Saladin was able to raise 50K troops from Egypt alone while the largest crusader army was only 20K.In-game Muslims are already stronger than their historic counterparts because thanks to polygamy they get shit ton alliances with marriages.Random note, but it's weird slave soldiers (saqaliba/ghilmen/mamluks) aren't depicted, considering how importan they were. I guess Muslims won't get a another rework for some time.

There's a mod on loverslab that just replaces all the photos in the game with pictures of chicks with massive tits.

I didn't get what you mean at first but it replacing the event images and whatnot is fantastically dumb. I almost want one with more realistic tit sizes just for tournaments.
>>1891505>I almost want one with more realistic tit sizes just for tournaments. If you have the equal martial tradition women wont wear shirts while wrestling. It's really the only upside to letting women serve in the military.

In real life, Hellenic Pagans still existed at the time of the early start date in CK3.The last Greek communities to convert to Christianity weren't until some point between 880AD - 1100 AD, depending on the source you believe. And yet... it's considered a dead religion in-game.To be historical accurate - at the very least the county of Laconia in the duchy of Achaia should still be Hellenic pagan at the early start date, if you believe in even just the most conservative sources on the end of Hellenic paganism.Meanwhile Paradox is finding excuses to include the Norse religion in EU5, despite it being contrary to most historical evidence.Make it make sense.
>>1891933Two very different teams work on those games.
>>1891933Bring it back yourself with a sword.
>>1891933>Make it make sense.Hellenic paganism died out for a lot of reasons, and it's historical for pagan religions that don't get reformed by the player to steadily convert to one of the more stable organized faiths.Norse paganism is native to Scandinavia, the same place that Paradox is from, and so the Swedes want to include mechanics for it in their games. They have no such connection to Hellenic paganism, and yet they still throw scraps to the Romaboos by way of things like the new unique Hellenic restoration route in RtP with the Household Gods tenet.
>>1891959>new unique Hellenic restoration route>Click a button and become HellenicIt's so lame, even the Basque pagan thing is more interesting and believable. There were some intellectuals that waned to restore paganism in the Byzantine empire, they should have made something that was related to that.
I've noticed that the AI is way more aggressive about spreading their culture in the new update. It's not that I'm necessarily against that, it's just that they do it in the ugliest bodergore way.
I think my CK3 is bugged because I have no wandering lifestyles. Am I supposed to do something to unblock the trees or is my game bugged?I can choose the three new perks while making a custom character...1.14.0.2 btw

Paradox needs to integrate the Catholic Trinity mod into the base game and make the pope actually a force to be reckoned with. They should>change crusades so that the pope can call them more frequently if Catholic core lands are threatened. Also buff them if the pope's authority in Europe is threatened>make pleasing the pope and excommunications matter. Make the pope like an early to mid game boss rather than insignificant like in current ck3>make it almost impossible to play as a heretic or heathen in western and northern Europe without getting stomped by the pope or Catholics>bring back the Monks and Mystics dlc and make being part of a secret society as one of the only few ways to play as a heretic or heathen in Europe without getting stomped by Christians.>make it extremely difficult to defy the pope and rewarding to please the pope. If you want to defy the pope you should need to create an antipope or become part of a secret society to subvert Catholicism or the pope's authority or maybe scheme to put your own subversive pope into powerstpdh

>>1893780I don't think so, as long as the Byzantines are around it should work.

Use your marshal to help vassals, dynasty perk that helps too.Make sure all your vassals are the same faith and use your priest to help convert counties to prevent religious uprisings.Set your heir up as a ruler so he can build legitimacy before you die. Single dutchy kingdoms are great for that, your heir can have his own royal court and you can give him artifacts, and no risk of him getting killed or maimed dealing with rebellions.

The legendary shrine building gives +5 life expectancy, same as the final perk from the blood line legacy. You can easily shit these buildings out, holy legend seeds are so common, you could have one of these in every holding in no time. I only made 2, but my last ruler survived cancer in his 60's then typhus in his 70's, had to commit suicide at 77 before I outlived my heir.If you have ten of these, do you just routinely live to 100+ years?

>>1894446How could it be improved?
>>1894466You just don't understand compassion. Doing bad things to bad guys makes you uncompassionate even in self-defense. From a dharmic perspective people who do bad things are the victims of ignorance so people who do bad things don't know what they are doing. So by retaliating it causes you to stay in a lower unevolved state enslaved by the aggregates instead of reaching a state pure compassion and love. Compassion is the most attacked trait for a reason. The elite want you to get revenge on your enemies so you stay unevolved.

Its funny seeing the options sometimes go directly against itself though since he's calm and has a bunch of other positive traits.I just love how 90% of dialogue boxes now seem to have a "well you shouldn't have fucked around too close to me" option for anyone, doesn't matter if its a king, a child, a pope, whatever.>>1895913Nah man my computer is definitely not the issue in my case. Cyberpunk 2077 and warframe as two higher end examples run maxed the fuck out on my rig. CK3 100~ years in and the game starts shitting itself. A lot of it seems to be down to adventurers and people in general. The game seems to be tracking every fucking thing everyone is doing and it doesn't like doing that.Turning down some graphical settings like objects can help some but eventually the game just hates itself.
>>1895913>>1895916>>1895972Change the options to have max 20 adventurers and have this on at all timeshttps://catalogue.smods.ru/archives/69877 / https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2276469612sometimes I reset it, turn off and on again, and it's working quite okayish
>>1895976I don't think you can do this to a save in progress, the adventurer bit.
>>1895976sup saltfish>Saltfish 11 hours ago >Could you please add another exclude rule `Waifu_safe = 1` in case of `exists = global_var:anime_core_loaded waifu_portrait_trigger = yes` ?>BTW, by checking AGOT loaded or not by `exists = global_var:AGOT_is_loaded` , the dragon etc. can automatically excluded from population control. e.g. if exists = global_var:AGOT_is_loaded, then AGOT_Dragons_safe = 1 in default.
>>1895977You can edit the save file, or maybe there are mods that allow you to do it, but you're right, I forgot we can't do it ingame.
>>1895982Yeah I was willing and hoping to be wrong on that one. I don't really like the sound of that mod though either. I feel like that would break something bad doing a landless run. I can already see 200 schemes ending early because someone vanished without a trace.
>>1895983I can assure you there are no problems with the mod, I've been using it for a loooong time and never had any problems. It removes unnecessary characters from the other side of the world that show up, or random characters created by an event that should have disappeared later, but the game doesn't remove them for some reason. It's a must have for me because without it the game runs like absolute shit. You can just try it out, add it to your current game, click "start population control" in the decisions and see the differenceI will shill this mod forever because I literally am unable to play without it anymore.
>>1895984Yeah you say that and the mod says it won't kill people involved with schemes but in default ck3 more than once I've had people just cancel schemes before I can even start them because of gameplay reasons. The scheme never started, and I'm not "close" so I 100% could see this mod deleting them as I'm not interacting with it yet.I'd much rather the game just not spawn a bunch of unneeded people in the first place, PARADOX.
>>1895972>Turning down some graphical settings like objects can help some but eventually the game just hates itself.I think it's the processor that the game is really heavy on. But generally I do agree, I used to be able to run the game for about 400 years without major difficulties, now it''s just a constant slog.I'm hoping to get a new pc with a 7800X3D soon. That will solve all my issues.
>>1895989Oh it is indeed the processor but in my case the game never even maxes out cores unless its loading. Graphics just add to the "lag" of the game no matter how powerful your card is. The game can only run so well no matter the computer you throw at it. The bigger issues are what we're talking about above with the simulation going out of control. >I think what they really need to do is stop following so much information about unimportant people until they are "used", maybe "sleep" some variables. You would think they were already doing this but clearly not.
>>1895976>https://catalogue.smods.ruIs this a safe site? not heard of this one before. Heard of modsinexile and shit like that.
>>1895992How does it compare to other paradox games? This is one of the most hardware intensive games I've ever played.
>>1895999safe, it's the biggest site for pirated mods, I download mods all the time from thereyou can request a mod if it's not there, or an update, and it'll be there in a few hours or the next day
>>1896003Its hardware intensive for what it is thats for sure. Cities Skylines 2 is a lot like this, runs like garbage no matter what you do. Though Skylines 2 runs like shit with 0 buildings.I certainly didn't have this problem with Victoria 3 for example. Its why I mentioned I run warframe and cyberpunk 2077 maxed above. Same with x4: foundations which itself is a janky game that likes to hate computers (especially processors). This is definitely a lowspot as far as hardware goes. I would hate to play this on a console.
>>1896010So its not a repository per se its reuploads? Is there any kind of checking on uploads?
>>1895530Are you really surprised that reddit likes reddit humour?
>>1896017Not them but I liked the dumb shit in ck2 like the horse stuff. Haven't really seen any of that in ck3 yet. I certainly am not a predditor though.
>>1895989Even 100 years in on my 7800x3d the game runs ridiculously fast on 5 speed, too fast to play on
>>1896028What renderer and what graphic settings are you using? Curious.
>>1896028Can you go from 867 to 1453 without lag?
>>1896028>>1896059Good question, also do you have any DLCs? Any Mods?
>>1893887Delegate - a single King is easier to manage (with sway/befriend or marriage to one of his daughters) than a bunch of Dukes. Or you could just set the realm stability to higher or extreme. This is more beneficial to the AI (which is retarded in all aspects) than the player, and so I always play on Higher Stability to see more Kingdoms on the map instead of fractured duchies and counties.
I'm such a greedy fag. I prefer to stay for 10 years at +1 income and shitty development instead of giving someone my title.
>>1896114Me irl
>>1895999I use skymods all the time.Paradox has their own mod workshop that synchronizes with the launcher. Not the selection that steam has, but lots of popular mods are also uploaded there by the mod authors. It's more convenient than manual installations, and you get automatic updates (with version control). Check if what you're looking for is there first.
>peasant faction war>outnumbered 250:1>they just sail to another continent and hide>can't end the warThis is such horseshit. If the last rebels deport themselves, it should be over.
>have vast Empire that spans all of Europe>Mongols show up>they siege a few border provinces and win ONE (1) battle in the steppes>instantly win the war and take the entire EmpireThat's really gay.
>>1896357What's the solution? I can't win a fight in open plains, but I can't wait to fight in defensible terrain because they're going to get 100% war score and take all my titles just from holding these shitty backwater counties a thousand miles from my capital.
>>1896358What a shit game. This is all the land the Mongols need to occupy to win without fighting a single battle. Real epic war there.
>>1896040>>1896059I usually get bored before that point, I think the longest I played was 867 to 1200ish but that was on a 5800x a few years ago>>1896062unmodded and all the dlcs except persia, legends of the dead
>>1896391>I think the longest I played was 867 to 1200ishNo lag? I usually end once the mongols are no longer a threat, but I eventually want to play from 867 to 1453 just to see what it's like. Also how did the 5800x hold up? I was thinking of getting the 5700X3D rather than the 7800X3D because it costs half as much and I don't plan on playing anything more intensive than ck3.
Is it mathematically possible to form a witch coven with a large house? You need 60%, but characters can't become witches until they come of age, and in my dynast about 40% are under 16 years old. You basically need 100% of the adults being witches, but even if you were just a couple conversions away and every child had witch parents, the kids that fail to become witches or are educated by non-witch courtiers will become adults faster than they can be converted.
>>1896467I got a witch secret early in the game, been trying to convert as many as I can for centuries, targeting young parents in my house, and the % just keeps slowly going down.
>>1896467I just realize it says 60% of adult members, but the point still stands. Conversion scheme length being constant and population growth being exponential, this quickly becomes impossible unless you form a cadet branch or do some weird shit like marry matrilineally with a random unlanded sow.
>>1896364How are your invincible Astartes not strong enough to demolish the mongols? Whether you started in 867 or 1066, you should've been able to do it.
>>1896606well, he says that he didn't even fought the war as mongols occupied some random territory and got 100% warscorenot the first time im hearing this
Ah yes, the Calipha
So do armies just not cost anything to maintains as a adventurer? Seems a bit silly that I can just keep growing in size seemingly forever, but at the same time it is Fun.. so not really complaining
>>1896784>Muslim female-dominated marriageThis has been a design flaw from the very beginning of the game. Paradox doesn't even bother to fix this or the holy war "bug" that prevents co-religionists from joining a defensive holy war. They're lazy and incompetent.
>>1896827The devs mentioned that it wouldn't be fun for the player if you had to actually deal with the logistical complications of heading a landless warband. So Reddit memes reign supreme.
>>1896606If Genghis was still alive ive heard his armies are broken to the point that it might be mathematically impossible to win.
>>1896836It's an intended feature.
>>1896848They buffed him again? It's been a minute since I've played til his invasion. If I look for an engagement north west of Kiev in the hills or forest, the war ends before I can get my army in position.>>1896848They get +100% damage and toughness from the great khan perk

>>1895541>that doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implementNever ever. The game's lead director clearly stated in a dev diary that he hates the idea of a hard mode.
>>1896940Light infantry are absolute garbage that can't even counter the unit its meant to counter due to its weak stats, why do you have them in your army?>If I attacked them head on in open plains it's not even a contest, my army gets completely btfo and the war ends instantly. If I look for an engagement north west of Kiev in the hills or forest, the war ends before I can get my army in position.Well, in this case, you might just have to take the L. It's not a big deal, though - you can always get your lands back. The Horde doesn't last forever.
Is there any good strats for rapidly converting cultures outside just having good stats?
>>1897045I picked that one that gives cheaper hybrid cultures and more cultural acceptance and set up house members of my culture throughout the realm. Once they got enough prestige they formed hybrid cultures, which instantly converted most (all?) of their land, giving them all the latest tech and building upgrades.
>>1896952Link? Why?
Would having all of your holdings contain a legendary watchtower or would having all of the warfare legacies be better for defense?
>>1896897>They buffed him again? If i remember right they indirectly buffed him when they reworked how generals buff armies. The way that i think the math works is you take the high martial Genghis has, combine it with the buff of the greatest Kahn trait and it gives his horse archers something like 2k in all stats. The way that those numbers work make it possible to beat his heirs with the normal great Khan buff if you're built properly. That being said it might also be old info as i believe they changed things up last patch?>>1896940If they're unlocked dump all those light infantry and make them crossbows, hell even archers would be better then them. Light Infantry are more of an early game thing. On top of that Horse archers directly counter heavy and light infantry. You're trying to fight him with armies hes built to heem.
What mods are you guys running?
>>1897112How the fuck do you figure out load order? I'm interested in 50 mods but I'm afraid they'll just break the game
>>1897109I forgot to add when i mean "early game" for light infantry i mean 867 early game. They're pretty much only good as a cheap MAA to use when your econ is shit and you want "something" to be a front line that isnt levies. But by the time you have any form of econ to support it you dump them and pick up more cultural units or pikemen as a front line. Kinda depends who you're fighting.
Can you still get the household gods tenet is you just form the Roman empire without choosing the Hellenic hard mode option and just converting with the old exploit?
>>1897112Rawdog for me. I want to experience the game the professional designers made, not some redditors that do it for free.
>>1897166>I want to experience the game the professional designers madeSo what are you playing instead of CK3?
>choose succession as a countess in the latin empire to see what that's been like>only has one county, with an older brother, while father is a duke>empire experiences three successions in 5 years because of poor health and my dad suddenly gains independence before dying>now my older brother rules the duchy and conquers the other parts that became independent with us>he aspires to become my friend and has no children of his own, making me his heir and regenti love it when a plan comes together
I wish Japan made its own CK game.

>>1897677maybe he should bobondeeznuts fuckin hobbit ass bitch
>>1897713I have had more fun with my unlanded run than I've had with ck3 since its launch. It meshes well with the tournaments stuff and the new mini dlc since you can hike to shit for fun, go to college, do a wrestling tourney, then rob some rich people while walkin around talkin shit.>bonus if you have the sadist trait and just run around being crazy
damn girl
>Start out as Norse in Scandinavia>Spend the early game forming Scandinavia and reforming the faith>When this is done, switch to a promising heir and make him a landless adventurer>Play landless until I reach India>Start building up a new branch of the dynasty in IndiaHow does that sound?

>>1897869alright you retarded nigger, give me your idea then
>>1897871Don't have any, I just felt like bashing yours because I'm bored.
I'm prolly late to this party but horse lords + konni is wack as fuck. This shit just stack wipes everything early game even when outnumbered heavily.
>>1898190why not just use horse archers if you have horse lords?
>>1898217You use both, you just have konni for the pursuit stack wipe.

>>1898377...yeah fuck the AI kekAlso they don't give a single fuck if you help them which is really weird. Its fun to demand money to help to sperg out greedy leaders though.
I haven't played CK3 landed in awhile. Just landless since coming back. Are you able to get as absurdly powerful as a landed as landless? My guys have all ended up with 40s for used stats and loaded up with traits. Doesn't even get into the armor, weapon, regalia, etc. I've made.
What are important legacies to get first? Blood right?
>landless dad dies, 12 year old takes over, game mentions regent but I don't actually have one>going around solving boundary disputes and debating kings as a preteenbased.
>>1898391Erudition, Glory and Law are all really good trees. I wouldn't put more than 1 or 2 points into blood, the later tiers aren't very useful.
>>1898440Yeah it just seemed like the first 2 were very well worth it if you got them early. Thanks
What is the fastest way to get prestige as an adventurer? Diplomacy and transport contracts seem to be the fastest and easiest option, or not?
>>1898377The only way to get the AI to maybe do something is to attach your army, they'll never follow you otherwise unless you're the war leader
>>1898603Get the perk in the diplo? tree that gives you more prestige from missions that helps regardless. I think the hobnob with ruler ones give extra also. Also the new 5 dollar dlc adds hikes and expeditions that straight give fame. Also you can get more just winning tourneys and putting on the shitty items they give if you don't have better than the bow or brooch for example. I've never had much problem with prestige always end up with way too much.
>>1898657I mean which type of contracts are more profitable for farming prestige? I saw in the wiki that it's the diplomacy and learning, is that accurate?
>>1898677Justicar contracts are decent too.And of course you can get a few hundred prestige after winning a big battle, just go around looking for strong armies to fight if you already have your OP MAAs set up.
>>1898677You can click on them and they'll tell you what they give. You're better off doing 'quick' ones vs the schemes. A learning one that is in stages, fine, but if you have to scheme you're going to spend months when you could've already done 2-3 more. I think hobnobbing with rulers is still better though? I got a ton doing that.
>Fixed an issue that made the ‘Searching for Talent’ event unable to trigger.people were trying to claim this already worked and it was just supposed to make random chance encounters more likely, but I knew better.
>>1898742I *BARELY* ever had anyone show up and when I did it was just a bitch with a map every time. It says you need to have free officer slots though, does it change if you run around without a porter for example? I didn't want to lose muh stats to try it.
>>1898703You can stack a long-running scheme with other things. Go train some knights, travel to the next region etc. You only have to wait if you picked up the scheme when travelling away from your camp.
>>1898747Some outright won't let you leave or start another and will just auto end when you try. Its not intuitive. I read this before and got fucked over because of it.
>>1898752I've not had any issues as long as I'm travelling with my camp to accept the contract, and don't try to start a second contract scheme, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if there are some weird exceptions.
>>1898681>winning a big battleI've been playing since 1178, and it's nearly impossible for me to start as a mercenary. The feudal lords are just too strong>>1898703>I think hobnobbing with rulers is still better though? I got a ton doing that. What do you mean ?
>>1898758The type of mission is called "hobnob" there is also regale court? I think its written as.

has anyone here invaded an empire as a landless adventurer, how the fuck do you gain the prestige for it?
>>1899390>I want to form a hybrid culture, but I'd also like to convert back to my origial, pre-hybrid cultureWhy would you want to do that?

Its nothing but prestige, gold, and piety.
They need to rework feudalism, especially the succession
>>1899502You can keep hybridizing and collect new cultures into a mangled abomination. It keeps adding new hyphens by default.
>>1899582No they don't. Gavelkind makes perfect sense to show fragmantation of feudal domains between various sons and decrease in land, which was one of the big reasons for the start of the Crusades. The centralization of land didn't begin until 13th century and it took until 15th to mske substential progress. What they need to do is expand feudal flavour to actual better simulate the land and fomain managment. Conflicts between high nobility and the King and rise of the low and middle nobility. And make the city and clergy vassals actually relevant as they should be.And rework the religions.
>>1899582>especially the successionI feel like that was mostly fixed with administrative realms.
>>1899621>Gavelkind makes perfect sense to show fragmantationSure but the succession is nonsensical in this gameJust start an early bookmark and see how bulgaria partitions, it's fucking stupid
>>1899390>hybridize>move your capital to a county that's still your old culture>use decision to convert to capital culture
