Is there anything else like this out there? I love the Oregon Trail meets turn based tactics shit it has going on but the sequels are just traditional CRPGs with the resource management/travel stuff being a barely-there afterthought. The only other series that springs to mind is The Banner Saga but the management in that feels 'fake', it's balanced so that whatever you do you never get too badly fucked over and never run away with a total glut of supplies vs Conquistador which regularly hits you with "all your guys are mutinous, starving and going insane from jungle poisons, you're being raided by hostile natives ever night and the nearest settlement is three weeks away; good luck asshole",

There is Viking and especially Rome, so go try them first.
Other than Expeditions, you have either shitty indies or shitty DOS era games that do similar gameplay
>>
Conquistador was horrible. Legitimately don't understand the praise it gets.

all of them are pretty mid snoozefests

>I love the Oregon Trail meets turn based tactics
This sounds great, too bad its stuck on some spic nonsense.

a different type of game but the curious expedition series combines resource management, exploration and turn-based combat

>Translation: I never played this game, but here is my opinion, please give (You)s
Here it is

I was never disappointed by a sequel as much as with CE2. Original game is fun as hell. The sequel is pure tedium with zero fun or flair
>>

I actually never finished the original, think I stopped playing shortly after setting up a fortress in Mexico. I got the sense that choices definitely mattered, I remember one of my party members chudding out and murdering a native chief's daughter who I had recruited and was intending to bleach

I somehow got stuck in the first village in the viking one, I'm ashamed to say. I was busier back then so I just said fuck it and forgot to ever go back to it.

Other then the other games by the same devs I can't answer much, but I can absolutely give other suggestions for games set in Mesoamerica, if you want that

The only one which is /vst/ though that's well researched that i've checked is Tlatoani: Aztec cities, which just came out. And the mesoamerica universalis overhaul for EU4, but that's dead

Some of the AOM Aztec mods seem alright, I think there was one other thing. Then non /vst/ stuff I can also tak about a bit

it's just boring

Original anon - Viking is easlily the worst one of the trio, and by a large margain.
