>>1895402>Great ship-building galaxy strategy game with crew management elements. As nice as it looks, it has barely any content after 5+ years of development. Also, what should take one hour of game play to accomplish will take you three.>>1895405>dumping the first google result
I got bored after an hour.
>>1895402gave me a few hours of enjoyment I guess. It's better than most in its niche
>>1895402I really want to like it but I can't, at least the way it is now, but playing it two years after the last time I did, the core gameplay had no change:>Make barely functional space box>Enter derelict with armed crew>Clear of aliens (and now robots!)>Wait many ingame days to dismantle and recycle useful stuff>Mining isn't productive until mid-game>Need too many growing beds to feed a modest crew size>Combat is bunching up with the most firepower in a corridor>Crew doesn't feel distinct beyond max skills and meaningless traits>Slowly research stuff that should have been unlocked since the start>Bored of doing the same thing over and over while boarding becomes slowly more difficultMaybe if you like building ships or interior design, you can have more fun with it, but the gameplay is so barebones and additions in the last two years doesn't seen to address any of the problems I have with it. It's not content that it's the problem, the basic gameplay loop is repetitive, unengaging and unrewarding.
>>1895402First time I hear about this game but it reminds me of that one spacestation management game Double Fine abandoned. Spacebase DF-9 is its name from what I've checked.
>>1895608this... I was hyped for it but the gameplay killed me
>>1895402The Game was interesting and looked cool early on then a random slave update out of nowhere basically tanked a lot of fan hype and potential buyers. Honestly don't think they recovered since then.
>>1896377Weird, that made me play more.
>>1895402Oh wow, i didnt notice this thread upI like Spess Haven. Very brootal game imo. Mechanics aren't extremely brutal per se but the situations you get into are sort of.Development takes two million years though.
>>1896393This is my fat battleship that i made one year ago... and in that time there was one whole patch? two?
>>1896394ugly as fuck.take notes
>>1896411no ur ship is ugly as fuck>lopsided gun layout, rear and aft>three different scattered avenues of assault to protect against when dealing with boarding parties>no workflow from storage to raw materials processing to manufacturing>kitchen and messhall isn't in the center of the ship so people can more easily convene and disperse after eating and break time>take notesi think not
>>1896416why does your refinery have a spacesuit door?
>>1896416>lopsided gun layout, rear and aft literally makes no difference >three different scattered avenues of assault to protect against when dealing with boarding parties I have a team of dedicated super-soldiers that one shot everything with laser rifles>no workflow from storage to raw materials processing to manufacturing literally what? my drones do all logistics while my crew plays video games>kitchen and messhall isn't in the center of the ship so people can more easily convene and disperse after eating and break timethey only eat before and after returning to their bedrooms so not an issue >*poos on you*
>big shipokay now do the real accomplishment and build a fleet instead (actual hardest thing in the game)
>>1896418No point in temperature controlling refineries, especially multiple ones, that are often working around the clock. All that heat isn't worth controlling, so just lock out the entire area and let people go in and out with suits instead.>>1896418>literally makes no difference I don't care about aesthetics, but I sure as shit insult other people's aesthetics>I have a team of dedicated super-soldiers that one shot everything with laser riflesOh la dee da, form and function dont matter for ugliness simply because you can ignore it (ignoring that for most of the fucking game you need to get to the point you can ignore it)>no attention to logistics of materials or workforceSee above. My ship is a carefully considered blend of form, function, and symmetry. Yours looks like any other generic barge out there.>*poos on you*no u>>1896437I was in the process of putting together a cruiser/destroyer escort before i just gradually stopped playing. Tbh there's nothing encouraging multiple-ship playstyle imo and its a pain in the ass transferring men and materiel back and forth. Nothing beyond more efficient point use for weapons, iirc, anyway.
>>1895667The research thing sort of killed my interest, prior to v10 there was no research and you just had everything at the start. Research doesn't feel meaningful, just something you devote someone to for a while to slowly unlock stuff so you can fully enjoy the game.I would've said all the basic stuff should've been unlocked from the start and finding new designs should've been done by searching derelicts for truly wondrous stuff.
>>1899022>a new hope start>you explicitly got the ship from a merchant baron>thus implying you have been living in space already>somehow doesn't know what a lvl 2 hyperengine is despite everyone else already running around with oneimmersion breaking quite honestly like are they seriously claiming we didn't just copy the schematics for these things or even have them aboard the ship already?
>>1895402Every update since the early ones has made the game worse to play.
>>1899022>Hire a nerd or two whose only skill above 8 is research>Research everything>fucking nothing else for them to do>send the nerds outside the airlock>warp away to let them die in space
reminder that in space there's no law against feeding pirates their own crew
>>1899113reminder in space haven there's no law against patching all this until its not remotely enjoyable.
>>1899312boohoo nigga
>>1899356>boohoo the devs took a solid game and have made it progressively worsekek thats a take I guess
>>1899409it's a 2D pixelshit game you mentally challenged dumbfuck, only autistic pixelcounting retards like you can tell if the game has gotten worse or better
>>1899421kek you're so mad
>>1899082All the starts are low effort. I get that they want to give you a blank canvas but they could at least give your 'starting ship' the verisimilitude of a purpose.
