Spore has people working on it again and an official Discord server. Something MIGHT be happening, but 95% chance nothing will ever happen. Anyway, Spore thread.

>>1910099>Spore has people working on it again and an official Discord server. The fuck?
>>1910113Yeah. It is most likely some shit to keep the online functionality up and running.https://youtu.be/g7hAEOnxAY4?si=JZJh5sbW2kO6W3GSThen again we need to consider that EA is involved, so they are under an NDA and can't confirm anything. They MIGHT be making Spore 2 or Spore definitive edition or another DLC but are not allowed to disclose. But it is mostly a case of nothing ever happening.
Spore 2 could unironically sell gangbuster in this autism age of roblox and minecraft
Spore 2?
>>1910127the fact that sporepedia is this live after all these years is crazy.
>>1910191Spore would sell well in this autistic age, but it would have to be good AND something execs would want, sadly it fails at the second assignment because execs are unwilling to experiment. Maxis and EA would need real venture capitalists for this sort of shit to come out.
>The Sims 5>Spore 2>SimCity 4 2 Where?
>>1910398Apparently they aren't making the Sims 5 so maybe maxis is doing Spore or Sim City. Either way kinda strange that a game from 2008 that hasn't been updated for years is getting an official discord server
>>1911045>Apparently they aren't making the Sims 5Source? I heard otherwise.
>>1910127>They MIGHT be making Spore 2Imagine the fucking jewry >Creature Leg Pack 1- $10.99
I thought maxis got shut down after the last sims?
>>1911078they just closed a bunch of studios
>>1911078maxis is dead, EA closed it for good years ago and i think one of the lead devs of simcity died a couple of years ago.
I don't think you will want spore 2 made by EA bro. They will create worse dlcs, add-ons than paradox.
>>1911181This. Spore 2 by EA would be "free to play" with lots of microtransactions.
>>1911196EA already killed spore THE FIRST. If you go around trying to find a really really old teaser from spore 1 you will see the dev had bigger and more cool ideas but EA wanted it to be dumbed down for kids.
They must have seen what Elysian Eclipse is doing making Not-Spore and doing OK (they have a seperate Aquatic Animal stage). It can’t possibly be but feels like Jet Set Radio’s new sequel announcement coming out right out after Bombrush Cyberfunk did well.
>>1910107>>1910099Why are you posting this like anyone will give a fuck, shill? The game was trash when it came out and it's still trash today. I'm not one of the cucks that got sucked into the hype, I played it years later and it's simply not a very fun game.
>>1911058>Source?CBF finding one but it's true. Believe it if you want or don't. Think yourself lucky you even got a response to something you could easily google yourself.
>>1911045Let it be like the third not the fourthLet it be like the third not the fourthI'm begging thee
>>1910099Let's fucking GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>1911488lol that's a lot of words to say you're an underage zoomer
>>1911890Are you trying to imply that the game has ever been good? Because that would make your post pretty ironic.
>>1912019It is good enough to make your mentally ill brain to seethe about it after 19 years.
>>1910127I feel that EA is simply doing the bare minimum when it comes to upkeeping spore, not planning on actually expanding it or making it the game it could have been, as to reach it's full potential spore would need to undergo a massive rework, and EA is a really sucky company so I don't see them trying to actually make a fun game any time soon that wouldn't earn them massive profits over the cost of making it
>>1911488Bro is only on this thread cause hes mad the game is good :skulll:
>>1910357yeah, especially because EA wouldn't even do it with a venture capitalist because all they care about is money, so they would have some shitty contract where the investor would have to pay them exuberant amounts of money even if it failed, and no sane person at that level of economic standing would take a deal like that
>>1910127>EA is involvedSo it's dead.

>>1912389>Bro isreturn at once to your point of origin
>>1912719I don't know. Apparently they are trying to regain access to the Spore Youtube and Twitter accounts. Something might be up with that. Too much hassle for too little gainCaptcha: 0RGYA
>>1910099BRAPxis
>>1910127falsetto troon voiceno THANK YOU
>>1910099I can't say much and you don't have to believe I'm legit here, but they are just at the stage of testing the waters to see if there's enough public interest to make a reboot financially viable. They recognise there's a market for a male audience targeted equivalent of the Sims, and also that Stellaris was popular but has died down a lot lately. If it gets approval expect lots of DLC packs too if figures are decent.
>>1910127>EA>Sporethey are creatively bankrupt and would not even consider doing serious development that would be needed for the sequel, just look at how they downgraded Sims 4 from Sims 3.The only possible future for the game is a spiritual successor but most indie developers are too incompetent and can only do asset flips, and the ones that are are working in AAA slop industry where the money is.
>>1915512>consider doing serious development that would be needed for the sequelExactly. That's why they'll just make Spore Galactic Edition or some shit like that. At best I would expect incorporating some parts from Darkspore and re-adding the beta cell parts in terms of new content and some graphic and quality of life changes. Modders already did it previously so EA could just do it with minimal work.
>>1910299Well it is for the most part. Problems appear because some of the oldest content gets deleted over time. There are certain adventures that aren't available anymore on the sporepedia even if you try to download them through the game. Mostly the maxis made ones. If you want them you'd need to either go through an archive or find some 3rd party repository to get them.
>Spore threadThis may have just fixed my entire day
>>1915439'tis unfortunate to be a br*tish w*man
>>1912032>after 19 yearsI played it like 5 years ago. It was just shit, sorry. It's ok that you have warm feelings of it because you played it when you were 5 but it was never a good game and nobody should be fooled into buying it and especially not a sequel made by EA in the current year.
>>1910099I just need to somebody to make separate and more in depth games out of cell and creature stages. Also, still mad.
>>1920473Best you can get is Galactic adventures. On the topic of EA and Spore:https://youtu.be/4QxWIO9W-Ko?si=Dv7xjh8Nfgtld6mN
>>1911573Still can't get over how much of a downgrade 4 was to 3, despite the quality of life and the fact that Sims 3's Sims still don't look too good even with face improvement mods like the Primer one. Even if they didn't want to go open world for performance reasons, they could have at least done some sort of "districts" thing or make open hubs. E.g: while your sims are in a neighborhood, do stuff for that entire neighborhood. Go to business district, only do intense calculations there.
>>1920473The real issue is that most evolution isn't super flashy, which makes any game where evolution is the focus painfully stupid.>woaw, my cell can produce [new polysaccharide] now, we will rule the oceans!isn't really the engaging gameplay that normies want. So what can you get other than a wacky creature designer?Even as a biologist, I couldn't even begin to grasp how to make a game which is both 1) fun and 2) decently well grounded in reality. SimEarth was like the first and last attempt and that was highly simplified.
>>1926232I think the only way to do it would be to increase the scale. Like Plague Inc. where the scale is the entire world population, that's what you'd have to do for a somewhat realistic evolution mechanic to be fun. You'd have to be on a scale where a 5% improvement in infectivity in arid regions will actually make a difference and provide a strategic decision.
>>1920473I wish the Tribal and civilized stages were longer desu.
>>1926920That would be pretty cool concept. although you can't do much with that kind of game other than "modifier stacking". If you could change between the scales and interact with your individual creatures during some part of the gameplay loop then it would be a very unique experience.
>>1911058LGR made a whole video ranting about it, that was how I found out.
>>1910099>old game reboots in modern clown worldYeah it's gonna be shit like every time.
>>1928359Sorry to hear you live in clown world.
>>1926232It can be gamefied and not take biology too seriously.
>>1928435Which immediately turns it into a novelty creature designer.
The issue and big disappointment Spore had was how gutted the civilization and space stages were compared to the creature stages. The civilization stage was just a really simple game of making peace with everyone or blowing up everyone while space stage was whack-a-mole missions along with a planet terraforming tool and half-working landscaping tool.
>>1918823>you'd need to either go through an archive or find some 3rd party repository to get them.Afaik that doesn't exist aside from some fruitless efforts. Would be glad to be proven wrong
>>1926232It could always have a focus split between evolution and ecology. Fair you'd have to sacrifice a lot from the evolutionary side but at least it would remain in the realm of biology instead of being completely gamified. This is how I'd do creature stage>Goal is to form a tribe>Requires a specific set of adaptations (inteligence, ability to manipulate objects and use tools, ability teach younger members from older or hive mind,)>The problem comes in with the fact that to unlock them or even benefit from their bonuses you need to increase other traits that make adapting to extinction level events harder. Some examples:>Increasing inteligence means that you have to spend more of your hunger bar on keeping the brain alive making high calorie food more important potentially forcing you to either migrate or change your diet.>Having to increase lifespan to benefit from teaching and learning will result in longer distances between generations which means you will recieve less mutation points per evolution than a shorter lived species. In this way instead of just having a creature designer you have some strategy as evolving inteligence at the wrong time would result in a game over. One would have to account for the environment instead of just evolving some random shit that wouldn't be beneficial in the ecosystem a species finds itself in. The difficulty slider would probably just be a slider that determines how often extinction level events happen.>>1929905Here is a github repository of the Maxis and Robot Chicken adventures.https://github.com/Liskomato/Spore-CreationCollections/releases/tag/MaxisRC-v1.0
The fundamental design of Spore just doesn't work. Why would I play 6 mediocre minigames instead of just 1 good game?
>>1930254The idea is that there is some amount of continuity which makes you feel invested in your species. I agree though, trying to simulate an industrial society within the same framework as a bacteria doesn't really make sense.
>>1930430>The idea is that there is some amount of continuity which makes you feel invested in your species. This would be cool if previous stages actually had any significant impact because they don't.
>>1926232SimEarth 2 would be absolutely amazing.
>Make a bunch of space species>Have them all interact with each other in game>Carefully terraform each colony so it has its own personal charm and history>Make up a bunch of scenarios in the galactic adventures expansion explaining their interactions and writing up my own scifi universeThis game was my childhood. I don't expect EA to give it any justice, and now I see all of the flaws it has, but at one point this game was my game and it was so comfy.
I always had the dream to kill all the grox and other alien species and putting a colony on every star system in the galaxy, but im simply not autistic enough for that.
>>1930254I think you could make it work, the phases just needed more depth and time. You could get into the space age in one sitting if you were really trying. Making each phase have a planetary or cross species effect instead of just a number bonus at the end would help make each one be more impactful as well. Maybe its just copium because I would like a Spore 2, but with the right vision I think you could make it work.
>Spore 2: Genetic Boogaloo
Trust me, we will all still be here in 2023, probably later. But listen, never let the destination be your motivation. What have you done since you first laid eyes upon the galaxy and heard this song? The things you've done, the times you’ve had, the places you've gone, the friends you've made? The result pales in comparison to journey. Think of the weird creatures you made in this game, remember how different the difficulty spike was from creature to tribal? Remember the Grox? Remember that one city that refused to give in to your Economic ways? Remember how you could reuse the code in the cover to validate multiple PCs? Funny story for you, I live in Australia, so I had to grab the mech parts that came from the Dr. Pepper promo illegally. I accidentally got a virus trying to get them, but it was worth it completely. But in the end, none of it mattered. None of it had any purpose. That computer broke anyway (poured some lemonade on it or something). We just did things because they were fun. In a way, Life is similar, there’s no goal, no destination, no purpose. From when you were born until you die, the grand scale of the universe will barely twitch. Yet, we’re here. Why? Big question. I sure as hell don’t have an answer. I’m sure no one knows for sure, so just make your own. Who’s going to tell you otherwise? Make your own goal, spend your life making the best god damn story you can imagine. Do the most you can, travel everywhere you can, meet as many people as possible, be the best at what you can, make the best of what you’ve been given. Make your own “personal universe.” You’re the main character. You’re the star. You may not be perfect, but no one is! And it doesn’t even matter! You’ve got everything you need to make it through whatever trials and tests you face just fine. Your story might not be interesting, or the most climatic, but it’s yours and you should be proud to call it yours.
>check spore on Youtube>still a slew of videos made within the last year getting 500k to a million viewsHuh?
spre fucking sucks because literally every game is the same
