As such, the Caliph had little ability to continue his war and was forced to pay a heavy ransom in exchange for his release--one that was well-appreciated by Zenon's chancery. With those tidings, and Matfei's brothers in arms, Sheikh Aghlab was repelled from Jerusalem and the war shifted in Zenon's favor.

Vastly outnumbered, there was little that Zenon could offer his brother other than funds to hire mercenaries, for his own lords had urged him to avenge themselves against Al-Aqabah, launching an invasion of that territory. Letting those lords take to that conflict, Zenon was a bit perturbed when he went to inspect the workshop he had hired to provide Damascus with a throne room worthy of a proper Christian lord, and was accosted by a pox-ridden woman in employ of its master who claimed to be a great admirer of his. Having to escape that, Zenon was quick to leave for Aqaba and receive Aglab's lands, which he absorbed into the royal demesne for now, finally expanding it beyond Damascus' immediate county. Another such matter to consider for the security of the realm was that of marriage: Zenon's eldest living daughter, Raymonde, had come of age, and the widowed Despot Zenon de Lorraine of Anatolikon had wished for a young wife. Though Raymonde protested such an act, Zenon was pleased that Alice had given him a son, Ioannikios, who would be able to assume the throne upon majority (after Barthelemi was quietly placed into the church's service). With Raymonde's marriage into one of the most powerful families of the Latin Empire, Ioannikios' succession was secured and Zenon had the belief that his realm would live on beyond him.

The third was his own brother, Andre, who had allegedly died of a sudden heart failure, leaving Nikaea to his son, Gueroc: he had given him a strong and centralized realm, however, with powerful and loyal nobles to guide him in his young ascension.
Obtaining victory over Sultan Tawfiq and integrating Tiberias and Irbid into his realm, Zenon was most pleased to welcome Wali Sergios of Korosko into the cells of Damascus. Looking to the aged Nubian, the King of Syria spared him no painless moments, and there were some who said that, in a moment of possessed madness, the King had the Wali cooked and eaten as a final sign of vengeance for his fallen son. But this was all just the first action, for the collapse of Tawfiq's realm in wake of his defeat had left Jordan prey to the mad King of Syria. Descending upon the Sheikhs of Balaqa', Ma'ab and Kerak, winning the first two through the successful capture of the Sheikh of Ma'ab's son, who had been a hostage of the Sheikh of Balaqa'.
While Herman Hohenstaufen inherited Frisian Anatolia and Lebanon from Duke Gerard, Zenon had little care for that minor trifle, even while some of his lords cautioned him about the Hohenstaufen expansion into his own brother's realm. Zenon, instead, wanted that grand prize, from the River to the Sea, and, with Sultan Ghazi of Egypt severely indebted from his massive wars, one of which had been a 5 year fight against the King of Epirus over control over their minor possessions in Krete, now was the time to strike. Mustering his men and battering down the walls of the Saracen castles, Zenon's troops had taken Gaza and were advancing on Sinai when the Sultan's army first arrived. It was around this time that, entirely unrelated to King Zenon, that the direct line of Saintois, the Dukes of Flanders whom had remained while the Beauffremont had seized Constantinople, died out, having warred against the Kings of France and lost their lands to the Capets.

It is under such auspices that we return to the grand realm of Despotissa Eunike, whose possessions she had inherited from her grandmother, the greatest woman of the age, Sarrazine of Strymon.
Having lost in her war of liberty against Emperor Fasti, the 40 year old Eunike had been forced to abandon her ancestral seat of Mysonopolis, but had managed to do so through cleaver measures, passing it onto her son, Maurice, of whom she born to prince Haukr Beauffremont, the second eldest (and surviving) son of Fasti. Trying out the Warcraft mod. World and races are very impressive. There are three start dates but actual scripted events seem to be pretty scarce. I did a quick run with Durotan and mostly just checked out how interspecies breeding ends up looking. Didn't mess with the really exotic races yet. Anduin Lothar is currently Duke of Black Morass. I can make him King of Black Morass, but I was holding out to form and hand out two more duchies in the Kingdom to too much consolidation under Anduin. We have had five children by Jaina, and three by our magical Dark Iron paramour. And potentially all of Lothar's children with Medivh's mother but that was for his benefit. We are currently trying to seduce one of Gul'Dan's daughters. Blackhand also has some impressive daughters I might get to know as well. Eventually we will take Stranglethorn Vale and Zul'Gurub as well as the Lost Isles, but for now I need to look inward and fix some vassal situations.

amazeballs kino megacampaign idea:start in ck2 earliest start date as the visigothic king and create a comfy visigothic empire around the iberian peninsula, and keep the visigothic culture.once you reach the point where your empire is so strong you can do whatever you want theres several ways of gimping yourself, just do whatever you want at this point. maybe have your empire split or establish a new kingdom somewhere that your heir inherits and let the ai take over your visigothic campaign, shape europe however you like etc etc.the point of it is, when you convert to eu4 your visigothic empire will start colonising the world with visigoths instead of spaniards (which is just frickin epic if you ask me) either you do it yourself or the ai controls your visigothic empire at this point while you play some off-shoot kingdom like i said earlier, however you like.and just watch the world unravel - you started at the earliest ck2 start date so everything is fun alt-his and it doesnt even break immersion because you started so early and whatever funky alt-his happens is legitimate.so yeah.then you convert to vicky and just build industry and influence stuff and so on, just watching the world unravel.kino if you ask me.gonna do this after my crusader privateers megacampaign.

mercenaries are somewhat a ready to deploy standing army tho they would usually lack morale the mostconscripts are usually referring to new conscripts so in the end it should cost more to train and equip them + these pops no longer working your land. a choice for a last ditch effort or raising a new army. after that they become normal levies levies are the middle ground, you lose money since the pops that worked your land are in the army like last time but they're a bit experiencedstanding army gotta be the strongest units by virtue of full maintenancejust my two cents

i think the person combat system would have to be entirely revampednone of this "greater chance to wound" "greater chance to not be wounded" nonsense, since a fantasy game would have greater emphasis on heroes and combathave 2 or 3 levels of an HP bar (like stress) that give injuries (short term/long term/crippling) that can end in death, with some attacks being able to bleed through the bars make attacks consistent but have varieties for ranged combat, regular fighting, and grapplingand then various educations/character traits can unlock new options (like a magic user gets a spellbook) wheras different fighter types specialize and learn new status-affecting moves that help them gain the edge in certain situations instead of just X to hit with swordthe only thing is that i'd want formation/group fighting to represent things like battles and small combat, which makes those previous conditions more difficult other than trying to make it more complex (and take away from incest memes) --
