why it didn't got more popular? it's amazing
Weird balance and static map mostly.Starts was very punishing, and even in mid game you can have god mode if you lucky and know what to do.
>>1929598>static map mostlyRandomlets, please. It's an especially moot point since they've been in pandering mode after Demon Scourge released and you've got your RNG map bullshit and even a spell school that compliments that.
>>1929609Stfu retard. Most losses that game take in first month after release, where all fucking map was just static, and between this, invulnerable bullshit, totally fucked balance (rng core traits included) and nightmare level of difficulty in first turns bullshit players just never back. You can cope as hard as you want tho.
How do the new Spellforce games compared to Spellforce 1? I really liked the comfy vibes of the original. The newer ones seem way more serious.
best crafing type? artificier seems broken>>1929659they are very good. I'd start with fallen god (standalone expansion) and then base game and soul harvest. Conquest of eo plays more like HoM&M/age of wonders
>>1929640>coping accusations>copes in his responseCan someone explain this to me? But since you bought it up yourself, I just can't resist:>cries that the game is unpopular because there's no random map>random map gets introduced and the game is still unpopularI can only advise you to cope harder. Surely it will help.
>>1929662Why fallen god first?
>>1929741It's not connected to the rest and soul harvest is a sequel to the base game which can be a bit slow at times. especially during RTS segments
>>1929666>t. retard
>>1929853No argument. No thoughts. Not even human. bek 2 skjuul, teenager.
>>1929863>your arguments is not arguments bcs i said so>also i will ignore half of sentence since you can't stop me>t. retard
>>1929659If you liked the RTS aspect fused with being able to actually walk around your settlement don't play this game.
>>1929903>writes like a retard>calls others retardsI see a pattern here.I hope you have a lot of children, since the local circus is lacking freaks.
>>1929907> >>1929903
>>1929909
Unbearably boring game for unbearably boring people. Just look at the kind of literal subhumans this thread attracts if you needed proof.
>>1930097But enough about paradox threads.
>>1929906I honestly don't think the hero aspect of Spellforce 1 was done that well. I was hoping you could opt in to a support hero that micros buffs, debuffs, heals, stuns, summons, etc. In reality if you do that you're fucked, because the game will routinely makes your hero the line holder. Plus walking across a gigantic RTS map just to talk to an NPC to do a side-quest.Despite this the campaign and art direction was fucking great.
>>1930202SF1 literally cannot work that way because your runic warriors and RTS armies quickly get level capped far beyond you and your enemiesThe only way to push forward is to make a physical warrior frontliner. Even summoner mages suck dickThis could've been done better but I really don't know how exactly
>>1930217Make the buffs and debuffs scale significantly stronger for multiple units as opposed to an individual unit.Make summons fill a niche lategame. Even if they're just meat shields. The fact they get 2-shot into the lategame makes them basically useless.Combine the two - Summons + Buffs making them better for when you don't have your army.Make the army scale better and not basically become useless outside of tower spam. There are like 100 different things they could do honestly.
>>1929587Why haven't indies tried the Hero RPG+RTS genre?
>>1930217needs more mobility and teleportation other than menhirs. Walking across these giant maps is a pain in the ass and a huge timewaster. Then again, the game was explicitly made with padding in mind, every game around that era padded the shit out of its gameplay
>>1929609>>1929666NTA anon but question was - why its not got more popularand the other anon replied as it isfor example I played it close to release, then some time after to give it second try and didn't like it much, game having one map had some part in ituntil this thread I didn't know that it got random map update and so probably most people who tried this game
>>1929609Are nu-RTS players unironically pushing for procedural randomized maps? Are they retarded?
>>1930335>why its not got more popularThe WAT>and the other anon replied as it isThe WAT?!I'm not going to address some stupid bullshit based on fucking nothing if you can't even be bothered to put enough effort and thought in writing 100 words long post and then having a nerve to call someone else retarded.ESPECIALLY if its based on a dumb false premise, that the central issue this game had was the lack of RNG map. Congratulations, you got me. I'm fucking seething now.
>>1930335I was a fan of the originals. Didn't play this one because it looked like it was missing a ton of content from the original, i.e. races, so I waited and checked in every once in a while. It also came out during a period of extremely disappointing sequels, so I assumed it would be shit to. This is actually unironically the first time I ever heard of anyone mention "random maps". The game didn't bomb because of random maps. This just sounds like autism only 1% of the audience cares about.
>>1930350
>>1930352well it had only one map and you just started in different place of it, I guess replicability would be affected by that but honestly I didn't even beat it oncedesu I do not remember much from this game other than you started as some magic apprentice and could move your tower and that fights were boring and exploration tedious
>>1930359The originals were basically setup in a way that implied it was 1 big gigantic world but they didn't have the resources to stream it like Dungeon Siege was at the time, so I could see that working. At the same time I can also see it fucking up the pacing, fucking up the level encounter design, etc.
>>1930352>This is actually unironically the first time I ever heard of anyone mention "random maps"And it's retard OP who start scream about random map.Such irony.
>>1930363I remember playing Spellforce 1 but i do not remember anything from it, it was like 2 decades ago or something>>1930338dunno, I think its just people see TBS game and think that is something like AoE and so they want more maps or randomly generated one
>Fire up fallen god>Tries to get me to register to some website for some reason>Character select screen>Genuinely have no idea what makes each character different at a glance>No quick blurb of their strengths and weaknesses or anything you have to read all their stats and figure out what the devs added>They all have the same skill trees except one who is melee only and you can't set int of>They have different armor but it doesn't say what it does other than you can disable it>Premade classes is an arrow button that isn't even labeledBro what the fuck. Who designed this? It's bad on so many levels
>>1930406Found out this is your starting party. Wasn't expecting that.
>>1930280Because RTS is dead.
>>1929587It's that game that dares to have the same abbreviation as CoE!
>>1930217Low level cap. Unironically this is the key issue.
>>1930575There are countless indie knockoffs of command and conquer. There's even one that gets shilled here. DORF. You go to any game dev circle and there's at least 1 dude making an RTS, but it's ALWAYS command and conquer with a new coat of paint.
What are pros and cons compare this to AoW4?
>>1930661those are autists that actually like RTSheroshit is casual shit that diehard fans of the genre dislikemeanwhile C&C's core mechanics are by far the best in any RTS, people who want to make a good game will inevitably take inspiration from it
>>1931008Those retards are why the genre died. We needed to abandon those retards pronto>Microing spells ontop of a base and an army is too hardGit gud.
>>1931008Every time I play one of those games there's always something missing. The mechanics are there but that's literally all there is. At that point I would rather just play an RTS from the 90s that actually had a budget.
