When I bought and installed Warcraft 3: Reforged, I was excited to see that my favorite map, which I had actually helped develop back in the day, was being updated by a new team. I still had the original unprotected file, so I took the opportunity to completely redesign the tech tree, streamline the gameplay, and add new upgrades, fixing a lot of long-standing issues I’d always wanted to address. I used the experience I’d gained in the games industry as a 3D artist and game designer to polish it up. But when I submitted it on their Discord, their response was basically, "Yeah, nah... that's too much work to copy and paste it into our version"

I'd rather not go into all the details, but we stopped actively working on the map years ago when I got a job in the games industry and the rest of the team moved on with their own careers. When they got in touch, we gave them an unprotected version so they could continue development.

What surprised me was their lack of interest in the design work we had laid out. This included the prototype progression of towers, walls, hospitals, heroes, a more coherent enemy AI, spells, upgrades, tech trees, itemization, and linear scaling for unit progression. Towers begin to fall off even before the implementation of the elves, and part of our overhaul was meant to address this. Units like archers, knights, swordsmen, and magical units quickly lose viability as enemy upgrades ramp up, leaving players stuck in a pure tower defense with heavy reliance on the hero.

Everything we planned to streamline the gameplay loop and evolve the base-building and hero defense systems, including core base concepts and difficulty progression, was basically ignored. The map went from something focused and thoughtfully designed to cluttered and directionless.

Despite all this, I asked them to send me the most recent iteration of their version so I could implement these changes, but they were uncooperative. If it was 2006, I probably would have just implemented everything myself back when we were actively developing the map.

Here's what I'm looking for: a city builder defense map similar to "Custom Castle Defense". Players build walls and towers, earning gold from kills and from income. That gold is then used to invest in towers, walls, progression, upgrades, and combines, along with your hero and units.

Enemies grow stronger over time. Like in "GemTD", towers and units that get kills receive a bonus per kill, encouraging players to keep them alive so they can scale and become more powerful.

Your combine system would apply to towers, their damage type, units, spells, items and heroes.
>Eg. Posion Frost Tower: It does cold damage and poisons the unit overtime.
>Eg. Fire Water Tower: It burns the area with liquid fire.
>Eg. Fire Rock Tower: It throws a burning rock.

Something a little different, your attacking units may spawn a Red Globe over an enemy. If you click it within 2s, your unit gets an attack speed boost. The sooner you click, the longer the boost.

To help with this, enemies you select now auto-reselect your original selection + there's a floating HP bar of the last selected unit.
