I was a good way through doing a Loji playthrough before I realized the way I did it makes no sense from an RP perspective. They let you do it, but it's incoherent. I took the DemSoc political tree and all the other economic focuses before creating Loji and that, in retrospect, makes no sense. Why would people who have literally created a utopian demsoc society suddenly decide humans are bad and throw away the system they just built to hand it over to an AI? It makes no sense. I think the Loji path only works if you beeline for it right from the beginning, like Xi's failure and the social collapse has caused a crisis of faith that it's decided can only be solved with drastic measures. So they build this AI overlord hoping it will get them out of the shitshow theyve caused because no one trusts each other enough to maintain power for long. Loji then either decides humans are more worthy than they think (Servant path) and that inspires them to go down the DemSoc path, or maintains control (Overlord path) and sells itself to the public as being able to create that which humans could not: perfect central planning (Maoist revival tree).

Having tried it out from a prior save, I was right. Going the Loji route makes way more sense if you prioritise it from the beginning. You wont be able to build it in a year once you take the focus because you need maxed out academic development first, but the fact it exists (just not upgraded to AGI form yet) and buffs you as you do all the other economic focuses makes the decision to build it seem more logical from a roleplay perspective since everything was falling apart right before you built it. It also makes going down the Neo-Maoist path as you wait for the project to complete make sense too, since the efficacy of the AI over a planned economy justifies telling everyone Mao was right but he couldnt do it because he was a fallible human, only our God Machine can deliver on Mao's promises etc etc. Even the new communes and digitally-organised youth organisations make a lot of sense if you see them as setting up communcation channels for Loji to take over so it can be immediately and intricately involved in people's lives as soon as it takes control. And because you did all this economic development and propaganda beforehand, instead of coming out of left field as some secret project in the basement, it feels like putting Loji in charge is something everyone is already primed to want (and also justifies why it has a cult of personality already).

On one hand, I'm happy TFR isn't making random countries in Latin America their bread and butter. But on the other I hope that they eventually do make content for that region just like KR did. Having a kind of great war over ideologies there could be a great mid-game battleground between Europe, Russia, America (if they're around) and the Asians. Maybe not all at once in every game but I could see some majors having potential there. And then it'd be fun to get to tag along onto the real big wars. Brazil sending expeditionary forces to either side in the GAW comes to mind.
