I was on my drive home today from work and I turned on Youtube music and popped on Gigi's cover of "Rotten Girl" and just let it give me related songs. The amount of songs I heard that were covers from multiple EN that I watch that I literally never heard of from them is astounding an various channels. Just look at this image, this shit gets about 3-5x the amount of listens/views as a REGULAR STREAM, yet it seems to be eating up more and more time from the talents. Why the fuck is so much time being dumped into what is basically a waste of money and effort? Then you look at people who have even less covers/collab covers and they get even worse viewership on their channels.
There are many reasons for this, OP.In Nerissa case, she loves singing, and will do it for fun, if she gots money enough for other sources. So yeah, imagine that people would put time and effort on things they love, even when its a "waste of money".For others, it can be a portfolio. The same way many people build their portfolios, putting a lot of effort, to convince people to hire them. If a talent has songs, performances, voice acting, with a meaningful enough viewership and approval, it can be used to advertise that they can be hired to do it.And many people fail to realize that "low views' from a holo are still very solid views for anything else.
Maybe it's just me, but I started to hate that they let talents basically clip out the songs they did for their 3D showcase/lives/etc. and post them as "cover MVs". I don't know, I just think it bloats their video section down and makes it hard to find their actual standalone covers/orisongs. If I wanted to watch the song sung during a 3D, I like to go back to the actual VOD for that 3D and watch it there.
