my oshi debuted her 3d model there and had a part in two concerts there.

it's kind of funny that Brave Group US dominated a European convention rather than Brave Group EU/globie

it's an extremely small convention

phase concert and brave concerts were top notch really brought the quality up for the entire con and made it feel special

Kicking myself for missing the Phase one. The opening concert was pretty high tier too though

Merryweather used the wrong announcement channel and did a PA to the whole venue. Yes. Whole venue. Good thing the Reform con ended before that happened. Imagine the media.

I think it would've been very funny if it had happened desu, it'd be interesting to see the reaction of both Reform and the media. Certainly an interesting way to introduce vtubers to Barry from Gateshead and Ethel from Tunbridge Wells.

Good write-up, VeXpo looks miles behind Offkai
>>
>>104324290
The most noteworthy thing was the Queues, I don't know what crackhead was in charge of timekeeping and layouts but that needs fixing.
Roca Rourin's singing was a standout performance for me
>>
>>104357608
oh wow, didn't even mention the music performances, doesn't seem like an opinion worth jack shit. If I go to one of these it'll be to hear vtubers I like sing. Writing up 20 paragraphs of autism and not even mentioning the music performances, what a fucking retard
>>
>>104345837
Officially it's both. They never correct people with the pronunciation, they just always say it must be spelt VeXpo.
>>
>>104358088
Are there other events in Europe? I'm sure it's less established in general

>>
>>104358088
Well Offkai has like a 2 year head start, so they've had more time to iron out the issues. But yeah, they really weren't prepared for the increased numbers this year. Last year the queues were tiny in comparison and the event was almost sold out.
>>
Roca, Phase concert and the BBC were my favorite parts
>>
>>104359128
There's really only twitchcon and dokomi but neither of those are vtuber specific
>>
>>104359146
Offkai’s year 1 was still in a better venue with dedicated rooms for concerts, panels m&g. It was at a hotel, and the pro to that is they had big medium and small rooms to use
One of Vexpos problems is using curtains to try and create individual space. You can get away with that if the hall if huge. I think next year if they could rent 2 smaller halls that are next to each other, it would work better. Have one hall for vendors and meet and greets, then have another hall that is the main stage for concerts and panels
>>
>>104360692
Weird thing is that having been to some events at the NEC (not VeXpo though) you can subdivide halls with detachable walls that can be installed in various ways depending on what's required by whoever is running the event. I don't know why they wouldn't use that option rather than just curtains (unless setting it up is prohibitively expensive).
>>
Eas the indie concert alright? Can any of those girls sing?
>>
>>104361750
Are you talking about Idol Anarchy? That had 3 indies and 1 small corpo. That was the best concert as far as the singing and performances go.

>>104360968
The dividers were used last year, since they rented only half of a slightly larger hall. This year it was the entirety of NEC's smallest hall. They rally need to think if they want to go larger and more professional or stay as a slightly amateurish local con.
>>
>>104359695
I live in Portugal and didn't know about it. Too bad, it would have been fun to experience something like that.
>>
>>104324979
Its funny how they throw so much money at sponsoring cons when they have 3views
>>
>>104357524
why are the lights shaped like horse dildos
>>
>>104363031
What else are you supposed to do as a corpo vtuber tho?
Just stream everyday for the rest of their lives?
Being able to work towards and do venue 3D concerts is something tangible at least. Its the new meta for a reason
>>
>>104324290
Let's just say my phase oshi ended up thanking me for my support in a very, very special physical way.
>>
>>104363229
£28 each too

Toffee best girl, Raki great too
>>
>>104324290
Were there many cheap single room hotels nearby? I might go next year.
>>
>>104362626
It is a catch 22. on one hand, holding the convention at the NEC, a legit nice convention center, is a flex and adds more legitimacy than holding it in a hotel conference center.

on the other hand, they had to use curtains to create rooms and space, which took away a little bit from the experience. at the very least, the main stage should be it's own dedicated room. meet and greets can have curtains usually IF there is enough room

I think there's also that Paris con that's pretty big, most countries probably have their own but the con culture isn't as developed?
I never hear about European con orgies

What is the French one called?

NTA, but it looks like he was talking about Japan Expo - it's like 200k visitors.
>>
>>104367220
oh, that reminds me that the anime league con local to me had two of globie having some kind of streamed panel so I guess there are vtuber things at other cons
>>
>>104324290
It was my first VTuber convention and first con of any kind in years. The only other cons I've attended were relatively mainstream (Comic Con, gaming, tech) and I only went for the day; this was the first one I stayed for the whole weekend. I've been aware of VTubers for a while, but it's only been a casual interest for me until recently. I went mainly to see my oshi PillowDear who was making a few appearances. I didn't recognise many of the other guests.

It was poorly organised. Almost everything was delayed and/or ran over its allotted time slot. There were many technical issues. They didn't give me a ticket to the Idol Anarchy concert that I paid for like they were supposed to, which I found out as I was queueing for it. They did sort it out in the end however and I got in, and the member of staff I'd spoken to was very apologetic when she saw me again the next day.

Despite the issues, I mostly had a good time and plan to go again next year, circumstances permitting. It's just cool having one of these events near me and I want to keep supporting it.
>>
>>104367220
Yeah that's the one, 200k seems like a lot but I'm not familiar with con numbers
>>
>>104367756
vexpo was like 2500 for comparison
>>
>>104367674
>Despite the issues, I mostly had a good time and plan to go again next year, circumstances permitting. It's just cool having one of these events near me and I want to keep supporting it.
I think that's the opinion from a lot of people. It's undenyable there was a ton of scuff and a bunch that they need to sort out for next year, but there was nothing egregious that would be reason enough to not go again.
>>
>>104367787
Those are rookie numbers compared to your mom

my mum's choir probably had similar numbers to that when they performed at some event actually

>>
>>104367799
yeah. It was worth going and there is nothing they can't fix for next year if they try.

I'll try to write down my thoughts after reading the posts in >>104357608.
Good fun, I went last year, this year and I'm pretty sure I'll go next year as well.
Vexpo grew a lot from last year and I'm not quite sure they were ready for it. Echoing the point about queues from >>104357608 queues for single events (Concerts, M&Gs, Panels) often stretched around the booths to the point that figuring out where each queue ended was tough to make out. Which was annoying, but in a way also a good icebreaker to start a conversation with the next guy in line.
Leading to my next point, the audience. Sure it's vtubers, what do you expect, but especially at the concerts, where you're sat really impacted how much fun you were going to have. Anywhere but front center and the standing area the people were just completely devoid of enthusiasm. Strangely enough that was not as big a problem last year not sure why.

The floor planning was a disaster, honestly. What worked well was separating the Main and Exhibition Stages to two opposite ends of the hall.
What did not work well at all was the positioning of the Meet and Greet Booths. Who's idea was it to put them in the center of the Hall? I didn't manage to win a m&g ticket this year but everyone I talked to said that both understanding the talent and being understood by the talent was impossible. They really need to work on a solution for that issue. Either separate the M&Gs into a second hall with the Vendors and the Gaming area or use Headsets and figure out a way for the staffers to monitor what's going on with an earpiece or whatever.

The company booths and Vendors were great. Seeing all the big fan creators was fun. I spent way too much money, but at least I don't have to wait for shipping I guess. All the big hitters had their stands outside the Artist Alley, which is understandable but funnily enough I think that led to less people actually knowing about them because for merch everyone just went to the artists.
The maid café was hidden all the way at the back, strange choice in my opinion, especially as they put way more effort into decorating their stand as a café this year.
In my unqualified opinion, swapping around the M&Gs and Maid Cafés would have made a lot more sense.

But all in all, good times. I'll definitely be back next year. I've heard from everyone I talked to how much fun the fan meetups are, I'll try to go to some of those as well if I can manage to keep myself engaged in one of the discord communities.
But even just talking to random people you meet in line, on a smoke break or the pub a couple halls down was great. Talking about what everybody enjoyed at the con, which vtubers they follow or even where someone got a specific piece of merch was a lot of fun. I talked to a guy who I met last year already and it was like catching up with an old friend, even though I only met the guy twice now. The sense of community really was something special. Maybe it's the /vt/ bubble speaking here, I'm not usually the type of guy to hang out in fan discords, but online you just don't get anything like that.

Isn't Primordia the thing Sayu was in? Why do they have a booth
