>>108581542my discord is publicly available (but locking it behind channel points is a smart idea) i have it so the @everyone role can only see the rules to the server and choose roles like colors and stuff (setup through carlbot). i also used carlbot to make a message in the rules channel that gives you a role when you click on a reaction to confirm they were read (probably). Then it gives you access to a channel that you make yourself known in (slow mode, no image embeds in case anyone tries to raid the server with scat images or something like that). i usually check the people in there a bit or remember them from stream and manually give a role for people to access the rest of the server. it's not the best way to do it, especially since you can make it a community server and get extra options like members being able to pick roles after joining through discord itself, but it's the way i did it. It's good to have an announcement channel (you can set up carlbot to automatically send a going live message through the setup website, you can @roles in this notif but you have to have dev mode on discord on and type @rolename to get the proper text to embed), a general channel, one for memes, one to share art in, and whatever you deem to be necessary later like a pets channel etc. i have 2 vc channels for talking and gaming and usually only 1 is in use but i like having the option. A bit of a ramble but i hope this helped somewhat!
