The only souls game I’ve played besides Elden ring is dark souls 3 and I finished that one. I had no idea what I was building. So far for Elden ring right now I have the complete opposite build that Ina has. Currently I’m level 42 with 30 int and 20 faith. No points on vigor and everything else is varied. Uchi would be fine for the base game as long as you upgrade it, but you can always replace it like Ina did. The flame and blood stuff comes from a weapon's affinity. Most of the time when you try to change a weapon's skill it also changes its affinity, which can add damage of other types and change which stat will affect its damage the most. They do different things, bloodflame has a long cast animation, some fire and lots of bleed while black flame blade has a fast animation and more fire but only lasts a few seconds and has no bleed. Overall bloodflame is probably better, especially with a bleed weapon.

Ok, so this is my first play through of Elden ring and have no idea of what I'm doing, i've only ever seen Ina play and I gotta ask. I'm I supposed to already be at the Erdtree or does it not matter? You can get to the Altus Plateau without killing a single boss, the capital itself is locked behind shardbearers though. It's more of a midgame area, just take your time exploring.
