ffmpeg does literally everything. -ss seeks to a defined start point for the output, -t defines duration, -vf scale=x:y resizes, -vf crop=x:y:x:y crops to a size from a defined upper left corner.

I'm on linux so I'm familiar with ffmpeg but it doesn't seem very useful for doing precise video or audio cuts when you want a clean beginning and end for a good soundpost, wouldn't I have to keep clicking around in mpv to find the right moment, then manually write the timestamp, wait for it to finish encoding a clip then check it and repeat the process a bunch of times to get the right timestamp and duration?

I don't watch most of chron but the standee bundle deal is so good that it doesn't make sense to order individually

If you want to quickly check your timestamp and clip, don't reencode it, use -c:v copy to stream copy the video and see how it plays first, it's way faster. But yes, getting the correct timestamp and duration is part of the process.
