What’s the lore behind “regular” weapons being able to fight against magic enemies in 40K? Watching Mori melt this Imurah guy with a smg style gun is kind if cool but also seems a little silly lmao.

You know, when mori said something about having fun getting pulled into the fanaticism of 40k, it got me thinking. That's so far from me and what I enjoy, and maybe part of the reason I don't like it is because it keeps getting sold to me like "there's this incredibly over the top thing in the lore that will arouse your animal passions," which is an approach that wouldn't win me over even to the properties I care about. I'm glad Mori had so much fun with that aspect of it though

It's also worth noting SM ammo typically undergoes some sort of blessing procedure so it may be extra effective because of that but I don't remember if that has any real effect in lore. Various "holy" weapons can be more effective against daemons and at a certain level, person's faith itself can hurt or even outright banish some of them but the bottom line is, a 25mm shell from the bolter hurts no matter how many horns or tentacles you have.
