How do they do it? How do they continue to thrive while all the other small corpos are dying left, right and center? Did fishman make a deal with the devil or something?
Because the guy has a lot of money and can afford to run it in the red until he gets tired of it
We all know who makes it possible
>>87057071
>>87057071Luck. Plain and simple. They were lucky enough to not hire anyone who would destroy the finances beyond repair with a sudden graduation.
>>87057071Literally who?
>>87057454pretty much
>>87057454Yes the failed manager carried by a company that already popular before she even joined.
>>87057071Fish hires autistic women and weeds out queen bee mean girls. Also he is heavy on female managers. The lead manager is Muumi, allegedly a veteran of the industry, speaks Japanese and Korean and has a Psych master's.
>>87058612
>>87057071Cuckoldry is in demand in the vtubing space and phasegods have a monopoly on it
>>87058728Didn't she work for NijiEN for a while?
>>87058915The rumor is that she was a part of NijiKR and briefly EN before leaving
>>87058915No that was a lie that phasegods tried to insert themselves into the gurratMuumi worked for a NijiJP affiliate branch the same org as Nasa's
>>87057071Coffee sells. Also he has other businesses and managed to reel back since bringing in Muumi which ultimately saved a few people from graduating. Phase Connect is actually one of the better companies to work for, despite the rabid fanbase. It'll stay alive until Fishman is ready to call time on it.
>>87059185>It'll stay alive until Fishman is ready to call time on it.Fish has a 40 year plan for Phase and jokes about employing the children of the current talent.
>>87057071pander to chudsit's that simple
>>87059168Oh the virtual hostess club thing
>>87059270More like he should be hiring the mothers of the talent. Rinmama would make money.
>>87059270>and jokes about employing the children of the current talent.I really don't want to think about Pippa reproducing
>>87057881Mumi is a witch
>>87059369What about Uruka?
>>87059185He's a good businessman but a shitty talent manager. Thankfully he's smart enough to realize that and hired good talent managers. They supposedly hired a JP manager a few months ago and their JP gen has been blowing up lately so apparently he has a good eye for talent.
>>87059270But he wouldn't allow his own daughter to become a vtuber, fuck that guy.
>>8705946420 years from now half of the new talent will be the daughters of blue bear
>>87057071it is NijiEN done right, let hope he didn't get a stroke and debut a luxiem equivalent.
>>87059514Here's hoping the new Invaders are worthwhile poaches and not just more reactivated corpses from Tsunderia.
>>87057071>zero yabs>zero graduations>20000000% growth>all girls happy>earning more money than most of holoseriously how the fuck is Phase so fucking powerful?? why couldn't others do the same?
>>87059621While Luxiem didn't help NijiEN was DoA when they let the clique form
>>87059631Who is even left from Tsunderia? Lisa joined idol and Ami will never join a corpo
>>87057071Fishman is mentally stable and a bit smarter than average. That's it. That's the only thing you need to succeed in the chaotic showbusiness industry of Vtubing. That's what the 95% of other corpos don't have.
>>87059880Da Wose. His ultimate prize.
>>87059764Well they did fire Yuri and took her model and channel but didn't she try and steal money or something?
>>87059764holosister please, this bait has been done before
>>87057071Coffee.
>>87060018Who is Yuri I only know Nano I mean Kiba I mean whoever she calls herself next year
>>87060018Some kind of serious contract dispute
>>87059369Pippa is only the prelude to madness. Imagine Pippa but as a genuine unloved freak (most likely created in a lab).
>>87059880Rosemi. And her joining is likely too, considering nijien has been collapsing for a while
>>87059880hoshino char and almost everyone from gen 2
>>87057263It takes a bit more than a fuckton of greenbacks to run a vtuber agency. Just ask Niji EN and pre-Brave Idol about the correlation between the CEO's personal wealth and the agency's success/longevity.Phase's success is not because of Fishman's deep pockets. It's because of Fishman's COMPETENCE. Though, admittedly, him having a fuckton of money does help; but that has more to do with capitalism in general than the vtubing industry in particular
>>87060018Talents have said things along the lines of>if you knew, you wouldn't support herAnd that's from talents like Tenma, who isn't afraid to screw over the fish.
>>87057071>other small corpos are dying left, right and center?By taking the BASED CHUD pill and going hard right of center of course.
>>87060127Why did she get rid of Nano? Weird.
>>87060339That was Panko who said the quote, Tenma didn't seem to give a shit and made jokes about it.
>>87059880>Lisa joins Idol>Sells out to Brave>...she stays because they promised her a 3D modelYOU HAD ONE JOB, SAKANA!
>>87060501Ah shit, you're right. Still, not a bad track record for a small corpo. My personal theory is she wasn't giving Phase their cut from YT monetization
>>87057071>competition literally killing themselves>fishman wins by doing absolutely nothing
>>87060601Lisa admitted on stream she never got an offer from the fish and cried
>>87060733Biggest missed opportunity they had. I'd also say Yuko Yurei but it turns out Fishman dodged a big bullet with her seeing how it ended over at Idol.
>>87058838They missed one comma...
>>87059764>zero yabs>zero graduations
>>87057071simple they running a coffee company not a vtuber one
>>87057071Older fan base who doesn't lose interest as quickly and has more dispensable income.Pretty fair contracts that aren't overly generous.Fishman is a competent businessman and learned to just delegate the talent management shit. They've got a stranglehold on the older online generation and the more edgy younger viewers.
Phase would have closed its doors too if Fishman didn't hire a bunch of networkers in Gen2I remember him complaining that no one in Gen1 ever wanted to network or do collabs and he had to force them
>>87059514>he's smart enough to realize that (he's a shitty talent manager) and hired good talent managersLike you said, he's a good businessman. A lesser businessman might have hired cheaper talent managers, and would have gotten what they paid for. A much lesser businessman would have let the talents self-manage, and a clique almost certainly would have formed.
>>87059185Coffee may sell, but WHERE IS MY FUCKING TEA AND HOT CHOCO YOU STUPID FISH?
>>87061723NGL was never a huge fan of Gen1 but the later gens have several talents I enjoy (Panko, Dizzy, Shiina, Clara)
>>87060488Some people don't care about self-preservation, in her case she just wants to be quirky and changing her name is a totally uwu quirky thing. So what if it confuses people and fucks with her SEO.A lot of vtubers fantasize about starting fresh with a new name and they workshop those fantasies but few of them actually do it because they have the self control to recognize the brand and audience recognition they built up over the year, even as 3 or 2views has value. Not Nano tho
>>87061865I've been trying to convince fish to invest in becoming a gamersupps competitor.Making the powders would be cheaper that importing all that coffee and it could be done in the US easily for convenient shipping. The fanbase is already receptive because of the coffee.

Okay so what I'm getting is that while fishman is hardly a genius, he's not a retard either and knows when to delegate stuff to more competent people which honestly makes him smarter than 99% of the people running vtuber corpos

Most of the stories I've heard from those fallen corpos is that management was not existent or they used too high of a budget for how much money they make. Talent's give a huge cut of money they make to the company, and they get the clout of the company as well as management. If your company has no clout then you better have good management in order to justify taking 50% of all donations. Otherwise you just sold your soul to get a vtuber model. If 50% of all future profits are an exchange for a $10,000 model and that's it, it's a bad deal.

Phase is where you go if you're into twitch culture (despite mostly being on YT) and meme spam, also male collabs and ironic weebs. I'll stick with Pixel, sweet cute girls and lots of positivity and gfe.

>>87075835Pixel is good, but who asked?
>>87075915Lumi streams on YouTube 4 times a week
>>87075769Speaking of Phase and shekels, the fish interviews about how a small corpo works like with cash flow are pretty informative.Like one of the pieces of advice he gives for people trying to join one is to look at the corpo's ability to pay any contractors like artists, riggers, editors and even talent on time because of how irregular revenue is.There can be months and months of delay for a small corpo to get revenue and its extremely for them to spend money they won't have, not being able to pay people on time is a bad sign of cash flow mismanagement and showing bad things to come.
>>87075952That's a different Lumi don't fall for the fishmans psyop
>>87075960a tiny corpo recently died cause of this, yume+. the ceo was basically the only employee aside from the talents from how things sounded, was late paying the girls constantly, and eventually just kind of ghosted them. they managed to bother him into responding, dissolving the company and releasing their IPs. my favorite girl there went on indefinite hiatus after. sad times
>>87076086Rhea…
>>87076164yep...
>>87075835Ngl your opinion smells
>>87057071Fishman isn't actively evil, stupidly greedy, or desperate. Good at hiring managers and talents. Has more brains than his small corpo competitors. Look at the four EN talents in gen 1. Their content is quite different, both from each other and from the big corpos at the time.If you hire a bunch of girls who do the same thing as the big corpos, not only are they going to have trouble competing, they'll also wind up competing with each other if there's too much overlap. How many people would watch several different girls play the same game? Sing and dance like Holo, but worse? Maybe if they're already heavily invested in the talents, but you'd got to hook them first.
>>87060018no. stop peddling this rumor. the character assassination of yuri done by phase is seriously so fucked up

All of the other girls were literally whos until like late 2022. Unironically pandering to /here/ got Phase to where it is today (and they still do it).

>>87076909She jokes on stream all the time about being a thief that steals money because people peddle fake rumors that she did that. She herself says she didn't.
>>87075194Putting limiters on Lia's content.
>>87076964I don't know what about whatever I wrote sounds to you like I think he's some "second Jesus". He's just not terrible overall, plus pretty good at hiring so far. It's more that his competition are... were pretty dumb.
>>87077097are you retarded?
>>87077014NDAs can be indefinite as long as it's signed into agreement by both parties. I did clipping work for a small company and even I had an indefinite NDA. Of course, I didn't have any information disclosed to me that I'd be able to break said NDA because I was just a clipper, but it was in the contract.
>>87077183No but you just might be if you think a contract can't be written up to last for life, especially a gag order.

>>87077603I don't think Nano lived in Cali, thought she was east coast
>>87076880even if it somehow was "reasonably" indefinite, it'd almost certainly be found unenforceable per those terms upon her termination. courts don't like indefinite contracts in the first place, and she'd certainly face no consequences aside from having to deal with a legal system when she almost certainly does not want to. if she really wanted to, and phase was in the wrong, she could say what she wants to, but unless they REALLY fucked her over i can't see her wanting to deal with the potential headache of speaking out

Plus for Phase JPs they're doing pretty well for a foreign company in an already beyond oversaturated JP market.
>>87075813>she is the most bland hire they made since shiina but nobody pretended shiina was a wild childFuck you, Shiina is great.
>>87057071Fishman is married and already has a mistress on the side so he's not sexpesting the girls or the managers constantly.Plus he already has money and a business on the side so he's not desperately trend chasing and donothoning to get rich quick. That's two entire classes of megayabs off the table from the start, meaning he's basically not going to tank the company himself out of nowhere. As for success, he literally got a girl who made a suicide vow that she'd either work herself to death to achieve success or literally blow her brains out live on stream.Luckily for Kevin she became popular. That was the biggest gamble he's taken so far and the only one that legit COULD have imploded the entire company. Like just IMAGINE how things could possibly continue on after that, it's impossible!
>>87059631Nah, trust me on this one. Amaris Yuri is going to join under the name "Fuura Yuri"
>>87078003>In my opinion, no other factor has affected the company more from a holistic standpoint of financial, PR and time cost combined than that issue.Even with that debacle most fans don't have much animosity on that issue, and even light heartedly rib Sakana about it since they know eventually they'll get their merch in a year or two.
>>87078247>and already has a mistress on the sideDizzy...
other than only rumors of what cause Yuri's termination, I don't understand the hate directed toward her. She was well liked before the termination, and hasn't done anything really bad at all as Nano. Pippa still plays games with her, Jelly follows her, she has a lot of friends and her fanbase stuck around. I don't see why she has 2 year old hearsay dug up about her every time she's mentioned. Really seems like her only stain is something we don't even know what it is.
>>87078003He is only suing one distributor who was in charge of a set of plushies. Everyone else he is okay with strangely despite the fact that they are late with delivering.>>87078330Sure, more hardcore fans now are fine with it but it's really not great for their merch reputation has gotten to the point it does and even the warehouse he has for final packaging and etc. became an inside joke. It affects gaining new fans and how many people are willing to buy something to wait that long to arrive. As a casual watcher of some girls, it is really offputting to see posts every once in a while in their threads regarding this something along the lines that something took 9 months to come over or someone had backlogged several hundred dollars of merch waiting to arrive or that they forgot they ordered something and then it suddenly arrived on their doorstep late. Admittedly, people do like the quality and it's not cheap China shit and it is better than most small corpos but at Phase's size, you would think that they would've figured this out by now being in their 3rd year and counting of business.
>>87078247>it's impossible!I think Lumi could make some jokes about it and keep going just fine
>>87078542Anons on /vt/ are just desperate to have something, anything, that they can use to claim Phase is a bad company but there just isn't anything substantial so they have to resort to digging up ancient history that was never revealed publicly to make rrats about
>>87062219 >my oshi is a cliqueless losershe's just like me...
Combo of incredible english gen 1 and probably something like >>87059185 . Selling coffee is one of those high margin merch that flies ubder the radar
>>87063388Vshojo is a likely outcome, but if you think that notRosemi would be anywhere NEAR as popular and successful as Mint and Doki, you're delusional.
>>87079021My rrat is that she'll be a "surprise" graduation that will happen before the end of the year and that there will be a fight to get her to go Vshojo vs Phase with Matara and Dizzy doing all the backroom negotiations to get her to go one place or another. I can't really tell at this point who would win though so that will be interesting to see who wins out.
>>87079287>I can't really tell at this point who would win though so that will be interesting to see who wins out.Matara with a bullet. She has more political power and influence to get Rose what she wants. Dizzy has nothing to offer.
>>87075565Runie is a standout because she actually fucking streams.
>>87079437Does Rosemi want to do a 3D concert and etc. to a live audience? She didn't seem like she was a big idolfag like Mint was. And even though her 3D was lackluster in terms of what Nijisanji put in, I think she basically would have hit all her goals with that otherwise. Dizzy has the emotional support pillar factor and is looked up to by her because Dizzy supported her to get out and apply for Niji. I do agree there might be some recency bias too given maybe how much Rosemi has met Matara in the background vs Dizzy but who really knows. There is also quite a big difference with Youtube vs Twitch despite Vshojo saying yopu don't have to do Twitch and she may not be up for changing platforms since her indie was on Youtube and I am pretty sure she can resurrect her channel like Doki and Mint did. But given how long she has been gone, it could really go either way. I expect it to be close and not as set in stone like you think.
> We'll stop debuting new talents after we get to a nice round 30what is this move called
>>87080326He actually said "slow down", not stop hiring. They started 2023 with 15 girls, lost Yuri, got 3 invaders, 5 gen 3, and 5 JP at the start of 2024. That's net+12 in less than a year.Maybe spamming gens like Niji or Brave isn't the best idea.
>>87080326pretty sure that's autism
>>87080326quality over quantity
>>87074219being able to agree when someone shows what you're doing is dumb is a talent lots of small corpo owners lack. from what I've heard he'll do the same for you
>>87078330>>87078635I’m just one datapoint, but the few times I’ve been considering merch, I’m hesitant because of the issues.
which of the talents are spamming these threads? Saya is that you? go fucking stream woman.
>>87082007she had a karaoke today
>>87060733>>87060901Just like with Yuri, they must know something we don't. Either the current roster has issues with Lisa, or Dizzy was very insistent on poaching her, which triggered the fish's apocalyptoc alarms
>>87082461Before Lisa went to Idol, Pippa went on a drunk rant on who she'd like in Phase and mentioned Lisa.
>>87082527Yes, Pippa likes her. But Hime hates Pippa(s audience). Same reason Kirsche wont be let in. Being liked by Pippa alone isnt a golden ticket
Yuko will Phase in
>>87083437She's not being let in again, anon.
>>87075730Yes, of course. "Skill in hiring".
>>87075835Totally organic post!
>>87082461it seemed a very obvious pick, which may be why fishman's alarms went off.he clearly doesnt like picks that are too obvious
>>87059185>Coffee sells.out loud
>>87075813No, you were never promised that. You were promised a normie that begs for money then fucks off.
Unironically? Cause the girls, sans Tenma, were always extremely receptive to the kind of "memes" created in their /vt/ general which changed the shape and perception of the character they play, making them more attractive and shill worthy. Pippa might have started it but other girls like Lia, Lumi, Panko, Shiina, Jelly, Muyu, etc. didnt mind dipping in either, some more than others. Now referencing this place is not as novel as it used to be tho, nor all fanbases are made equal, Phase's fanbase was creative as autistically active and annoying as they were.
I don't have a horse in this race but from an outsider's perspective, Phase taking Yuri's character and channel which she had before coming to Phase seemed like a dick move even if they were perfectly in their legal rights to do so.
>>87087156Same as your situation anon but that's how you deal with insane women
Coffee
>>87078917Erina is in the Lia clique, you just don’t see it on screen because of time zones.
