Visa issues makes the most sense by far as someone who has worked in Japan, it really is random as fuck and depends entirely on how much of a dick the agent you get on the day wants to be.I had to go to the immigration bureau like 3 separate times to extend my visa once because the guys the first 2 times were just being cunts for no reason. I needed a visa for 31 days and they options were 30, 60, and 90, per their own website. I asked for 60, the first two times both they insisted anything over 30 is literally impossible, it doesn't even exist. I showed them the website and they were like nah it's wrong. Eventually settled on I have to skip work on the first day to come to immigration and get a visa for the remaining 30 days of the month. Got a nice lady that time, she gave me 90 days which they had spend hours arguing was impossible before.Another guy who I worked with renewed his visa every year for decades, one year they just decided fuck this guy, and then delayed granting his visa for like 3 months for god knows what reason to do some extra paperwork. He applied like 6 weeks early and still missed a month and a half of work.
