it finally hit me just before she told people to stop giving suggestions;

mio, go to school for marketing. it would be helpful with streaming, getting those numbers up like your parents want, and also an avenue for future employment for when we get married and you stop streaming because we are so happily married together and you want to financially support me and make me fat and dependent on you for everything

when she hits rock bottom and decides she must fix things rather than soothe herself with self harm and avoid painful feelings (shame, guilt, etc) she will rapidly get better. it's disappointing, but clear, throughout every subject mio went through tonight that her goal is basically always avoiding spirals, rather than overcoming them. and frankly, her ideas for how to avoid them are really stupid and obviously born from a place of desperation.

the meds will hopefully level the playing field between "want to get better" vs. "want to not hurt" a lot. they'll give her a chance to look at things more rationally, but on their own won't give her ideas on how to overcome those spirals. she'll still need a catalyst in the form of a moment of lucidity to get things truly going.

for honeymeads who are feeling despair about their helplessness; wait until she gets her meds, and start thinking about what coping mechanisms she might have more luck with. actual coping strategies, not handling physiological needs like eating & sleeping enough. ideally, the meds will put her in a headspace where she's more able to receive those ideas. and if things go well, she will certainly need encouragement and patience when things don't all fix themselves overnight.
