The feeling of the interconnectedness of the world and sense of discovery you get while exploring it is something I think the later games never quite recaptured to the same degree. And as much as I enjoy the later games, coming back to this one after a while made me really appreciate the slower pace of the game (in combat and in general), which is one reason I would really enjoy seeing them play it. It feels a lot easier to just pick up different weapons and try them out than it does in the later games, or to use a variety of weapons and tools like you did.
