Yeah Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds was a shameless clone of Age of Empires 2 and I loved it almost as much. My favorite scenario in AoE2 was the Battle of Agincourt where you had the British longbowmen, and Galactic Battlegrounds made that exact same scenario using the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo.

I don't think multiplayer would be nearly as fun as single player campaigns. We played Little War Game with Kiki a few times, but she enjoyed the tower defense scenario a lot more than the skirmish scenario, and the skirmish scenario is pretty similar to Age of Empires basics.

Playing against the AI in a story campaign is a lot more relaxed than playing against real people.

Recently champs have been playing Dawn of War together. My game always crashes multiplayer though so I can never join those.
I host a private Valheim and Vintage Story server for champs to play on as well, you can search pyondex for login details to those, but we haven't really been playing either of those games for a long time now.

Digging into it more, it looks like the definitive edition of AoE2 took some steps that will hide your IP address during multiplayer. The original multiplayer was peer-to-peer so everybody knew everybody else's IP address, but the definitive edition multiplayer passes everybody's connection through a microsoft server first, so you only know the IP address of the microsoft server but not the other players.

Not an issue when playing singleplayer, but nice to know.
