You can't have a low-skill event with a large prize pool it, doesn't work. I have a friend who is really into TCGs and he says the disney TCG always has big prizing for events (since they can afford it, obviously). What this results in is that all the TCG experts show up like vultures, netdeck, clean a bunch of scrubs for free money, and then immediately forget about the game again. which I don't think is healthy for the more casual players or the game itself
