Do you pick a civ in AoE2 campaign? I honestly can't remember the single player campaign. Who do you think she would pick out of the base game civs (can be based on history or how they play or whatever)
>>90667524No the campaigns are locked to whatever civilization they're about, i.e. the William Wallace campaign lets you play the Celts (Scots). The Joan of Arc campaign lets you play the Franks (French). When it comes to the original game I think the only campaign that wasn't a single civ all the way through was El Cid, which has you swap between Spanish and Saracens at certain points. Outside of the multi mission campaigns, there are also a bunch of one mission scenarios based on different historical battles.
>>90667875While we're talking about it, the William Wallace campaign is the original tutorial for the game, so I do recommend Kiki consider playing it first. It's not super long, and each mission teaches you basics of the game without overwhelming you.
i didn't play that much aoe2 myself, a bit of multiplayer only i think, and then again the same for aomyth. all i remember are the general game mechanics, that teutonic is a cool word, and some voice lines. i was more of a starcraft/warcraft kid

Thing to remember about AoE2, is that the game is about countershaving a proper unit composition to counter enemies will win you gameslist of them:Pikemen, hallbeards (long pointy stick guys) counters cavalry, horse and camel unitsFoot soldiers counters pikemen Archers counter pikes, and foot solders (with proper micromanagement)Skirmishers (spear throwers with a shield) counter ArchersCavalry (horse guys) counter archersthis is just a simplified list, there are siege units and other special unitsAlso, do not forget about upgrades (blacksmith) they are very stronga fully upgraded unit can beat their counter with no upgrades

Age of Empires 2 is very turtle friendly, which is "slow and steady", you can easily make walls and towers to keep the AI away for as long as you need (a strategy called turtling).

There is a mod menu you can use from the main menu to search for "Original Campaign Voices" and install mods with a click. Be careful with Petards, they have really low health and are completely useless against infantry but super powerful against buildings, you want to keep them alive long enough to get them close to the enemy walls.

You're gonna want some battering rams to help take down the British walls and castle too. They're made in the Siege Workshop, which has a gear icon in the Military Buildings section.

If you select some infantry units and right click the ram, they will go inside of it, and make it move a LOT faster. You can pop them back out when it's done knocking stuff down (or if it gets killed).
