You can set up fairly complex stuff with it that doesn't interact with the chat at all. ScottFalco and Landie (one of the devs) have used Sammi as pngtubing software, having it animate their pngs, swap between different states, and so on without any plugins or such needed. I've used it to animate a scene in a similar fashion to old flash animations. Others have built plugins for it that allow it to use game state information from Guilty Gear to control aspects of their streaming set up (sfx and vfx both). It's way more versatile than you're imagining I think.
