Damn I missed the whole stream, due to my interview. My cafe was basically off so it was probably not that that was causing issues. Copycat slabs will crash a player and a cow in a jar can crash the server. There are some random performance fixes I could suggest but I am burnt out atm. It might be time to look at releasing the world file and resetting the server. Actually knowing everything going on it probably was my cafe that is hurting the performance soo badly if I can have the world file I will nuke.

I don't know, it could be any number of things, I don't think we should jump to conclusions too much. I was sleeping through the stream though I'm not really sure what even happened, was it an issue of bad TPS (so things like breaking/placing blocks have a large delay but everyone can move around normally at least from their POV), the clients getting bogged down and having bad FPS/lag, or was it a ping thing? I noticed Kiki had bad ping when she showed the player list at the end, that's happened to me before too but it went away after a while and seemed to be random

There's the simple fact that modded servers really don't last forever as time goes on more and more is built and more and more little errors pile up so the server runs worse and worse. An incredibly active moderation team can mitigate some of that by reseting chunks that haven't been "used" by anyone in a while and removing chunk loading belonging to people who haven't been on in a while but eventually you just gotta choose/make a new pack and reset the server. Last couple weeks I have been the only one on most days a reset would reinvigorated the server and with a more stable pack the server could last longer. With a world file release no one would loose the work they did.

There are things in that mod that I have seen on the server cause crash loops starting 30 min later.

If it's of any interest, I've been splitting all of it 50/50 into a tank for thee and a tank for me. I haven't used my own personal tank at all, and it's got 461M buckets. That means /pyon/ has collectively duplicated 138M buckets worth of items. At 0.1 bucket UU matter per item duplication, that means you guys have duplicated 1,380,000,000 items, a number which I find highly unlikely and which calls into question whether or not the split is really 50/50 or nod.

I think atleast The Repairer of Reputations should be required reading to talk about "lovecraftian" horror being the only story from that early in the history of the genera to be told from the cultists point of view. Anything we do is just gonna be a bandaid
No one logs on anymore. If Kiki gets on it is in Creative. If it is talked about on the bread people say that they go other things to do, in reality people are just bored. Everyone has done everything they have wanted to do. I am really the only one who gets on anymore and this is coming from me. A server reset would fix that. It doesnt have to be tomorrow set a date a month or two out, make a big deal about it, make it an event.
I say this understanding her thought possess and not bad mouthing Kiki at all the /pyon/craft modpack is just a slightly edited version of All of fabric 7. Both "all" series' are infamous among the dedicated modded community for being unstable and fabric is known for being less stable than Forge. If we started from scratch we could build something together from the mind of Kiki and the Champys that was more stable and better suited for the way we play so that people would play for longer. There are very large mods playing a major part of the pack that would cause major issues to stability and progression if removed that have issues that can easily take down or lag out the server, there is no way to fix that without a reset.
Adding to this if we started over no only would it draw champys back but Kikis friends could play on it from the start of the server.
Reiterating if Kiki released the world download of this server nothing would be lost either.
I will probably reedit this and the relevant parts of the last post into a mallow but what do Champys think on this radical idea?

the only thing i have to say is that two things are true no matter what
- any kind of mod pack is really hard to maintain. all it takes is one mod dev to say i quit and its out of service for quite a while, possibly forever if nobody can or does pick up development
and
- most mods for any game that add stuff to a game generally cant be easily removed. most of the time you have to go through and physical remove the items from the world before removing the mod or it will crash and sometimes ruin the save file causing a complete wipe of the save file.

personally it doesnt bother me if it is or isnt modded. and it wont bother me if we have to restart either. i just enjoy playing with you guys so i will be there to help build stuff.

This lets you do all that again. I have been the one stating all the bandaids, I will continue to work on these bandaids. I said in a month or two but if it is longer it doesn't matter. Kiki should know resetting it is an option and that it is eventually needed, there are very few servers out there, even vanilla, that dont reset every year and even less that dont reset every 3 years at most. It is hard to copy structures from one modpack to another but not impossible with some manual intervention but have you walked around rabbitville recently? I have been doing my best to clean it up but the claims make that impossible, there are half constructed houses and clear cut and leveled but otherwise empty plots everywhere, roads start and stop on a whim, random holes. There's alot of good and alot of bad. If more people got on and worked on it then there could be more good. If Kiki went through and removed some unused claims even though I can ignore them if I really want to that would be very nice.

It looks like separate GC issues for both Kiki and the server if I had to guess. The Java argument optimization guide I have been linking and careful RAM settings will smooth things out. Clients want min and max set to 8 gigs no more no less, more causes issues because when you hit the max it has to work too hard to clean things up, min and max the same because having min less than max just slows thing down.
Server ram set the min to the max it if two are different and lower it untill you stop seeing the issue. no other way. Probably want to remove all spectrum crafting recipes (even if that breaks the packs progression) aswell as I have been able to get a few spectrum blocks to trigger this issue. Update everything and that'll work as a bandaid, do the rest of what I have said and you get a little further. I will send a mallow with a fix here in a few days.

To be clear with what I am saying here. I feel wrong about messing with claims so I am only doing small things and going one or 2 blocks in. I am doing my best to not but if I can make things look alot nicer by say adding 2 grass blocks to level out the spawn chunk or remove a half cutdown tree I will. I like building around the weird blocks at the edges of chunks, it is a fun challenge but it isnt always possible. The other guy who has done it more has gone a little more extreme with it putting in whole fences around claims and adding in light posts but it is still subtle enough that I dont think anyone would realize that we could break claims unless I just admitted to it.
I will not clear out these half built houses or terraform the clearcut terrain but I think it should be done

To the Champs with mice infestation problems, I recommend using these. The dumbasses will go right in to get the bait one after another. I caught every last one that had moved into my walls with a couple of these placed in areas they'd frequent during the night. Then you can just take them somewhere far away and release them unharmed
